Not sure it is. The Rangers get Fielder for something like 7yrs/138 million at 29 years old. Reds gave Votto 10yrs/250 million at the same age. Disregarding the fact that most all of the great players in MLB are overpaid, seems like a pretty good deal for the Rangers, and and a nice salary dump for the Tigers.wes_mantooth;1540067 wrote:Detroit gave Texas 30 mil as well....that is a terrible contract -

Fielder belongs in the overrated thread lolse-alum;1540075 wrote:Not sure it is. The Rangers get Fielder for something like 7yrs/138 million at 29 years old. Ironman92Fielder and Votto are very similar postseason players.

IggyPride00McCann signs with the Yanks for 5/$85.
That seems like a shit ton of money for a 29 year old catcher whose offensive production has declined for 3 straight years now and is coming off a season of .256/20HR/56 RBI. -
Azubuike24Cardinals get Jhonny Peralta.
-
Ironman92Yeah.....he's quite a bit better than Kozma

HitsRusFormer Tribe setup man Joe Smith is on his way to the Angels....3 years $16 million.

shoot, I wanted to resign him -
Classyposter58Tigers are targeting Choo now. I guess they want to give top prospect Nick Castellanos 3rd and have money to keep Scherzer after this season. With Choo it'd look like this...
1st-Cabrera
2nd-Kinsler
SS-Iglesias
3rd-Castellanos
C-Avila
LF-Choo
CF-Jackson
RF-Hunter
DH-Martinez
I like that lineup a lot, a lot of good hitters and a team that can actually run and field the ball -

Coming off a steroid suspension from last year that seems like a dangerous contract as who knows what level the clean version plays at. Turns 32 at the beginning of the year, which usually marks a downturn for most guys. -
HitsRus^^agree with that. One thing about JP is that he is pretty consistent and he is dependable as an every day player. By that I mean, you can count on him everyday to go out there and give you a solid performance. Compared to most players, he's not injury prone, and he fields whatever he can get to. Still it seems like a lot of $$$ for him.

HitsRusRicky Nolasco to the Twins...4 years $49 million...club option for a fifth year.
Robinson Cano and the Yankees had three straight days of meetings.... Cano wants a 10 year/ $310 million deal....Yanks want to give him 7 years and $168 million, but might consider an 8 year deal....
Who else but the Yanks can deal up that kind of bread? Yanks seem to be bidding against themselves.
Dan Haren is going to the Dodgers...a one year deal worth $10 million plus incentives. Pitching 180 innings will vest Haren for a 2nd year. -

Also think of all the money he brought in as far as merchandise and tickets go. Detroits attendance was great because they were good of course, but the star power is what really gave it a boost. Him and Cabrera are total household namesse-alum;1540075 wrote:Not sure it is. The Rangers get Fielder for something like 7yrs/138 million at 29 years old. HitsRusThe Twins have signed Phil Hughes away from the Yankees (that wasn't very hard) Hughes was 4-14, 5.19 with the Yankees in 30 games. The deal is for 3 years /$24 million pending Hughes passing a physical. Even mediocre pitching seems to be fetching a good price so far this off season.
The Royals are expected to go hard after Carlos Beltran.
The Rangers are said to be trying to trade for David Price. -

HitsRusThe Yanks have shipped catcher Chris Stewart to the Pirates for PTBNL.
Twins attempting to re- acquire AJ Pierzinski. -
IggyPride00The Tigers traded Fister to the Nationals just now.
