I didn't expect this though. He's playing at a 45 goal pace, too bad he started the season in Grand Rapids. I swear our GM is the worst when it comes to personnel, incredible drafter, but terrible at managing the current roster. No way guys like Samuelsson and Cleary should have played over these young guysLaley23;1600136 wrote:He is quickly becoming a star. But just watching last year you knew it was coming at some point. -
Classyposter58Also great day for our prospects as Anthony Mantha was selected as the QMJHL MVP and Ryan Sproul was named CHL Defenseman of the Year. Mantha is 19 and 6'4 190, 20th overall pick from last years draft, had 57 goals and 63 assists in 57 games this season. It's incredible the amount of young talent the Wings have, I didn't think we would be able to reload again but sure enough it's happening

I assume this is right about intramural club teams, not impressed.Classyposter58;1600367 wrote:Also great day for our prospects as Anthony Mantha was selected as the QMJHL MVP and Ryan Sproul was named CHL Defenseman of the Year. I've never wanted Washington to win out and the Wings to choke as bad as I do right now.Classyposter58;1603071 wrote:23! 23! Greatest playoff streak in sports is about to continue -

Midstate01Clinched with a loss? Good job.

Well, it was an overtime loss, which has been what Detroit's done best this year, so it is kind of fitting.Midstate01;1603434 wrote:Clinched with a loss? Good job. -

Good thing for the Wings they dont use shootouts in the playoffsHeretic;1603503 wrote:Well, it was an overtime loss, which has been what Detroit's done best this year, so it is kind of fitting. -

Currently in sports, there still 5 years from tying the NHL record for longest streakClassyposter58;1603071 wrote:23! 23! Greatest playoff streak in sports is about to continue -

Well, I think with OT losses, you get a point if you lose either in the brief OT period or the shootout, right? I know Detroit got 15 points solely because they were good enough to take teams to OT before losing, which makes the only difference between them and also-rans like Toronto being how they were competent enough to avoid losing before regulation ended.lakeflyerMike;1603595 wrote:Good thing for the Wings they dont use shootouts in the playoffs
So I'm not sure if just the elimination of shootouts will be enough to help them. There is a chance, regardless, that the games will go into extra time. And then they are doomed. -
queencitybuckeyeThey can reserve tee times for any time after game 5.

Laley23I know everyone is hating because its Classy, but Detroit has been playing very well since they have given the young guys more of a role.
Pittsburgh or Boston will be tough though. They need(ed) the 5th/6th seed.
Also, I think they are 5-6 in OT, not counting the shootout. They are just terrible in shootouts, pretty average in OT. -
sportchamppsBluejackets have been beating Detroit pretty easily the last 10 times they have played. I think their record is like 8-1-1 vs the redwings

Highly doubtful they match-up. Wouldnt they both have to get to the CF?sportchampps;1603745 wrote:Bluejackets have been beating Detroit pretty easily the last 10 times they have played. I think their record is like 8-1-1 vs the redwings -

Yeah since they're the lowest seeds. Red Wings swept Columbus in the Bluejackets only playoff appearance ever. Just glad Ken Holland get made to look like a fool bringing back all those shitty veterans. Not only were those youngsters clearly ready, it made for actually watchable hockey instead of that crap early on. Still Detroit needs a healthy Zetterberg and Datsyuk to make a true run at it, as the Olympics showed Dats in shape can absolutely dominate.Laley23;1603747 wrote:Highly doubtful they match-up. Just look at least season though, beat Anaheim in 7 and lost in Game 7 of OT to the eventually Stanley Cup champs and had a 3-1 lead on Chicago actually. I think they can do it, heck anyone can once in -

I'm taking the Bruins in 7. Definitely isn't a true 1-8 match up. -
