2013 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread

It does sound like he might be willing to play for the Browns for a tad less since he's a NE Ohio native and getting "closer to home" seems to be a priority. Browns new D-Coordinator is former Steeler coach, Ray Horton, who learned Lebeau's system.
How do you think Cleveland fans in general would feel about this? In his pro career, as far as Cleveland's concerned, Harrison is the guy who (a) bodyslam'd a Browns fan who ran onto the field and (b) seemingly saved his best head shots for the Browns.

Seems like it could be a marriage made in hell if he can't perform at a better rate than, say, last year with the Steelers.

I've been saying all along they might as well ink Joakim Noah, Michael Vick, AJ Pierzynski and, perhaps, Satan if they sign Harrison. Unlike some of you guys, I think Harrison's done. In fact, I think Polamalu's pretty much done too. You see more of Troy on Head & Shoulders commercials than you do on the field anymore.

EDIT: As far as Harrison goes, you guys have said it before. He's kinda like Hines Ward. If he's on your team, you love him. If you're the opposition, you loathe him. Don't know that I could even grow to "like" Harrison. I think he's a dirty player and has serious mental "deficiences" every time he opens his piehole.

If he performs....they will love him.
If he doesnt...they will boo him and make him cry like Tim Couch.

Hearing Pittsburgh could be a landing spot for Steven Jackson (Rams-RB)

No, we wont. I don't GAF if he comes to Cleveland and makes a Pro Bowl or two, I want nothing to do with the PoS, and I'd say thats the general feeling among Cleveland fans.

and again....that is until he plays like a boss and knocks out Flacco or BR or Dalton, or all three.

I'd be ecstatic but I can't see it happening. He'd have to take one heckuva cut and even though the Steelers are typically "contenders," I don't think he'd be willing to take the cut he would have to.

In regards to the Harrison to the Browns talk.....I know that most Cleveland fans on here have HATED him so an about-face would be pretty hypocritical on their part. That being said, it happens a lot in sports. A hated player from a rival joins your team....do you actually root agains the guy? I mean, he's on your team. You don't have to like the person off the field, but the player on the field.....if you want to see your team do well...odds are you will cheer that player on. I guess I'd classify it as excusable hypocrisy.

Well...if Harrison did somehow end Roethlisberger's season with a sack I'm sure that hate would turn to love very quickly amongst a few....

I would love that play, but he's still a POS

Look no further than the LeBron returning to Cleveland talk. He embarrassed Cleveland on a national stage....yet quite a few would welcome him back with open arms if it meant a chance at a title for a championship-starved city. And I'm not saying Cleveland fans are the only ones like that....every fan base has fans like that. None are above it. You hate a guy unless he's playing for your team and then you are able to look past his off-the-field and even on-the-field controversies for 3+ hours on Sunday, etc.

Not me. He'd still be a weasel turd. This is Kyrie's team now.

I would not welcome LBJ back.

Judging by the Cavs thread there are definitely several that would welcome him back.

I did chuckle at BR's comment about seeing Troy in hair commercials more than on the field anymore. Thought that myself many times last season. Sad but true.

Anyways, I see that Arizona is interested in Mendenhall. He'll end up there.

I can't claim "originality" on that Polamalu quote. A Steeler fan called in and said that about Polamalu. Said they should've already cut ties with Troy & Harrison. When Harrison & Polamalu are healthy, they are elite game changers. Problem for their fans is that they are rarely healthy, for a full season, anymore.

I know what you're saying about the Cavs thread.

McFadden and Gay in Arizona didnt work out and I doubt Mendenhall will either, but that is their problem. They are running the cardinal org like a bad fantasy football owner who drafts players from his fav team.

This is a pivotal year for TP. WHen he plays he def is a game changer, but he has been injured often and doesnt recover real quickly. He always seems like the type of guy who feels like he doesnt need football so I could see him up and retiring with little notice at some point. He usually does his own training out west.

I am willing to give him one more season to see if he can reclaim his glory.

-Steelers are gonna end up cutting Willie Colon. It will clear $5.5 million in cap space.

    -Dwyer signed his tender.

-Foote re-signed for 3 years and Burress is expected to sign a 1-year deal.

-Wallace is gonna make big bank in Miami.

-Mendenhall drawing interest from Denver and Miami as well.

-Steelers have shown interest in Beanie Wells. IF he can stay healthy...I'd love to see him in black & gold.

    Batch is done.

I did feel sorry for him after he played poorly and seeing how it affected him, but he just doesnt have the sklls to be able to get the job done anymore. I am always for a vet being the #2 over a rookie because they know what it takes to get it done. Backups get basically no reps in practice and for a rookie to go through that and expect to perform when ben gets hurt really is too much to expect out of anyone.

Grad will be the 2, and a rookie will be a 3. They may keep Batch around for camp as you need 4 arms in training camp.

Leftwich needs to hire out his body to medical students or something, since I think all his bones and muscles detach from each other after barely being touched. He'd be great for anatomy study.

i wouldnt say its 100% that batch wont be back. depending on how the draft goes If we dont get the guy we want at qb or some other postions its still possible. he knows the playbook, after getting some snaps he beat the superbowl champs at their place and we had a ton of drops while he was in there or he may have won another. he comes very cheap and 3rd qbs rarely get in the game

True... There is around a 600k diff between a rookie min and a vet of his tenure.
His stats against the Ratbirds in tha game werent bad at all...over 250 passing but it was the defense that won that game as Flacco was under 50% passing and the steelers got a huge turnover late.

I like charlie...but I think his time is done. Even in that game he was underthrowing guys and just didnt have the arm strength. The playcalling was better in that game to guard against his weaknesses.
  • Gblock
yea i mean most likely he wont be back but it wouldnt totally shock me if he was. im not sure we really have kept him around the last 3-4 years because of his playing abiltiy anyway
