What's the difference between playing slots and watching football?
Nothing really but if they don't have someone/something to bitch about they're not happy. You know, "good old boys club/clique."

That's kind of what I thought too.

I just avoid con_alma in general. He obviously gave birth to jesus christ himself, so we will never reach his standards of livelihood.

'OMG...BR would rather get out of the house and do something other than watch football....he's not a "REAL" fan....OMG !!!!!" Believe me, I've MORE than paid my "dues" as far as the Cleveland Browns are concerned.

I don't recall anyone saying that or being that dramatic about it. Maybe your own conscience is getting your panties in a bunch about it, but to say I am bitching about you makes me LOL. If you don't want to be a fan anymore, then don't be a fan anymore. IDGAF. The Browns have plenty of loyal fans.

I mentioned that I went to the casino and missed some of (or parts of) the last 3-4 games and I get "lol won't watch your team on Sundays...such a fan?"

In fairness to us, just because you've "paid your dues" (as if being a fan of a sports team requires hard work, blood sweat and tears, etc.) doesn't mean you can just do other things during Browns games and still call yourself a super fan.

Sorry, but not watching Browns games because you'd rather put your money through a paper shredder in West Virginia doesn't make you a good fan. If you're losing interest in the team, just say it BR. Don't beat around the edges and use the "I'd rather go win money and watch part of the game!" excuse.

I thoroughly enjoy his responses...they just scream "I am stuck in the 1950's" it's unreal.

The closest post to what you just mentioned is probably my post giving you a hard time for playing slots...

The bolded part made me LOL. He "paid his dues," yet he is here agreeing with con_alma. That goes completely against what con_alma preaches.

I like you BR, but I have to agree with s&l. If you are losing interest in the team, then just say it. You don't need to be passive-agressive about it. It is pretty understandable for an older fan such as yourself to lose interest after much misery.

I was just sticking to Browns fans, since BR mentioned the "good old boys club/clique." I wouldn't consider wildcats in that group, since he isn't in on the Browns discussion as much as you, coa, or myself.

When did I self proclaim myself a "super fan." Oh right, I didn't. If YOU want to label me that, it's on you, not me.

I have no problem stating my superfandom ended November 1995. I have been nothing more than a casual fan since 1999, been to two games and watch only when convenient to me.

Yeah, I don't get the "super fan" label when it comes to me. Just because I know a lot about the team and the game doesn't mean my life depends on them.

And the "never been to a game" comments are drawn out & boring. Yawn.

"Paper shredder" has paid over $60k since November so I'm not complaining.

Lol, please. 15,000 posts on here, probably 12k of those on a Browns thread. You scour the internet for Browns articles, news, info, etc. You get all pissy every time someone doubts your fanhood. Just because you don't directly label yourself a super fan doesn't mean you don't come off as one.

I would never label you a super fan considering the elements. More like an old bitter guy who is so miserable w/ how the team has been lately that you'd rather do other stuff than watch/go see the games.

First of all, I highly doubt you won 60k from slots in 3 months. Sorry, not buying that. Even if you did, I hope you are claiming those on your taxes, you wouldn't want my buddy at the IRS knocking on your door now would you? :D

Secondly, I know enough about casinos to know that's how they suck you in. Let me know how much of that you've lost in May when the machines "go cold" aka the casino management has you right where they want you and start turning the jackpots off for you.

Durr...we have to pay taxes in the United States? When did this start? My accountant has my won/loss statements and will be doing my taxes shortly.

Just making sure you play by the rules, that is all. Nice work on winning 5k since November..that's actually pretty impressive.
