Umm...the starting of Hoyer should've sent that signal to most. LOL

I like Cousins but no way is Washington making this move, right now. RGIII is FAR from being ready to play but they've thrown him out on the field. Griffin has lost his legs and hence his explosive playmaking ability. Cousins should've started the season until Griffin was completely ready.

All that being said, this regime is likely going to go out and draft their guy, not trade for someone.

As I said in my post, this is the one part where I am down on the trade. Luckily they are locked in contracts, but wtf are the other guys going to do when I see the FO just pretty much gave up on them before week 3?

Not really. Weeden sucks and everyone saw the underhand pass from Campbell at the end of the game...so it didn't really matter what trainwreck of a qb they threw out there. Trich was their "star power"...and to the casual fan, this was much worse.

Ok lets say the Browns use their picks or earn the number 1 pick in the draft and get Brisgewater the consensus number 1 QB. Then Bridgewater still won't have any options outside of Cameron and maybe Gordon on offense. He will still be stuck playing behind an awful OLine. The Browns just need so much on the offense side of the ball. For the Browns sake I don't wanna see them draft Bridgewater and let him get killed behind that line until he either gets hurt or develops bad habits trying to protect himself.
  • sportchampps
If they get Jony Football that would be even worse because his size would be hard for him to survive behind their current OLine

I think they are forced to draft either a Olineman or a WR with that other 1st rounder then. And they must be active via free agency.

From the non-replacement of Oneil Cousins to the insertion of Hoyer at QB and now the trade of Richardson, they are sending a clear message that they are not in "win now" mode. Campbell would've likely given them a better shot to win but they know what they have in him. Lombardi loves him some Hoyer and they want to see if he can come out looking like a genius by seeing what he's got in his boy. The ones I feel sorry for are season ticketholders and the Browns vets who have had to suffer through this.

Overall, I think it was a great trade but don't like the message it's sending.

I do agree that trading Joe Thomas probably isn't a bad idea right now. By the time they are any good, from how it looks, he'll be riding around in a Rascal.

Well based on this post they are fucked either way. Might as well get a first rounder out of it. Also I refuse to believe their line is that bad.

yeah, i am in the same boat...I wasn't big on moving up to get Trich, but i hate the message they are sending for this year.

And the sad part is that they have SEVEN home games remaining. Attendance could be Tribe-like. Ouch.

Here's a hypothetical (and I hate talking draft this early), but if the Browns continue on like this we're probably looking at a top 3 pick. Let's say the Jags finish in the #1 spot and the Browns draft #2, if JAX takes Bridgewater do you take the QB #2 or grab Clowney?

Not sure if he'll even come out for the 2014 draft but I think Marcus Mariota is going to be a good QB in the NFL. Has the size, arm and athletic ability. Hopefully he's a strong leader as I think we see with guys like Cam if you aren't ready to be a leader then those physical skills don't matter in terms of wins and losses.

I like him because I think he can be similar to Kaepernick but what do I know as it's looking like I pissed down my leg hitching my wagon to Weeden.

Hypothetically, if Cleveland gets the #1 pick...do you take Clowney or trade?

My eye test says that Clowney is the best defensive front 7 prospect since Lawrence Taylor. But it is the Browns strongest position. No way that you don't take him there, but I can not imagine that 20-25 other teams would not want to trade up to get him.

I actually think Manziel will succeed in the NFL. Most scout say no, he is a 3rd round project reach.

Be about the Browns luck to pass on Lawrence Taylor in favor of Charlie Frye. LOL

Well I've slept on this. I was pretty livid when it happened, but now I'm not so down on the trade. I still don't really like it, because Richardson was a good player. I know he didn't rush for 1500 and 15 TDs like we pictured him doing, but he was still a solid player on a pretty bad offense. And we traded him. That more than likely makes this offense un-watchable. In week 3. SMH.

But long-term it's most likely the right move...problem is, regime after regime, they have FAILED in the draft, especially with these situations (multiple first round picks, 7 picks in the first 4 rounds, etc.). And I'm not so sure Lombardi has the ability to draft a stacked draft and actually get this franchise going in the right direction.

All I know is..they better fucking draft a QB with a top 3 pick. This talk about QB or Clowney...give me a fucking break.

Also...don't be surprised if we made this trade to have "move up" ammo in next year's draft. Say we finish 5th in the draft, we could use this extra first round pick and maybe one of the 3rd or 4ths to move up spots to take the best QB in the draft.
  • derek bomar
what QBs are free agents this off-season? Freeman? Anyone else worth a shit? I'd rather go FA qb and get Clowney (if only for the fact that we'd have dudes named Barkevious and Jadeveon on the line) if possible.

I think this is pretty obvious. They've been stockpiling picks since the draft when they did, essentially, nothing.

At least this regime is starting to understand what has been wrong w/ the Browns though. No franchise QB. We've tried to reach, we've tried to grab a 3rd rounder for one, we've tried to rely on the backup wayyyy too many times.

Just spend a top 3 pick on a damn QB already. Pick one you like. This upcoming draft will have great options. Just trust a kid, and take him. The team will INSTANTLY be better, and won't need a 5 year rebuild or whatever the fuck iggy calls it.

First time I will ever say this, but people should not show up. It is time the FO feels it.

    Trade down.

Trade down if its only a few spots.

BR you gotta realize that 3-5 year rebuilding processes aren't a thing anymore. That's just a regimes excuse for "we've fucked up so far. This is a process".

It's simple, you get a good QB, you're no longer rebuilding lol

The browns weren't going anywhere this season because weeden sucks. So they made a move to improve their chances at a franchise QB.

I don't think of that as sad and gloom.
