You'll never get an answer on this. It's no use.

You have Toledo guys who are outraged because chud is from Toledo. And you have iggy who just wants to bash the regime at any cost. Perhaps iggy used to have a relationship with one of the upper management guys and was turned away. Who knows.

Everyone second guessed the Trent trade, and now it looks like grand larceny. We're all so used to seeing these things fail that we immediately fly off the handle when a decision is made. Let's wait and see how this thing plays out. The one thing I think they need to be careful of is keeping the players in a positive mindset. All these guys are angry, and we can't afford to lose these guys who are part of our core.
    Well said. Agree.

So, why would I comment on the regime 10 years ago?
I said the last 10 years, which would include the last year and change. You seem like a knowledgeable Browns fan, so I figured you'd have all kinds of ammo to refute my statement, and that's why I posed the question.

Now these are good posts, as they actually express an opinion. Thank you.

The messenger part referred to the article, but what I'm saying is that the organization is a joke. I'm giving my opinion is all, and not trying to downplay yours. You think they're moving in the right direction, I don't. I posted an article supporting my opinion, and you're free to post one supporting yours.
Both Chud and the new front office came in at the same time. If you believe that Chud should have gotten more than 1 year...then you should be willing to extend that courtesy to the front office. If the front office is a joke what the hell was the coaching staff? The front office didn't teach blocking and tackling. You can compare this coaching staff with the Steelers staff, who coached their team up.

This team had more talent than Shumur, Crennel, Mangini ever had...and it had the worst record.
Frankly, I applaud the front office for recognizing their mistake and not accepting mediocrity.

I am not too worried about people thinking the browns are a laughing stock. That can change very quickly in the NFL. You have the right draft and get the right coach it can change within one year. Not sure if mcdaniels is that guy, but maybe his second time around will be better (if he gets the job). Look at the bengals 3 seasons ago. Everyone predicted them to be a 2 win team. Mike browns hard on for WRs finally paid off and now that team is very tough. People thought that organization was a joke, now I see people saying they so a great job running that organization lol.

This draft will be the most important draft for banner and Lombardi. Just like when Heckert and Homgren had 2 first round picks, this draft will pretty much determine their fate along with the teams date. If they hit on this draft, this team can be scary good IMO.

Unfortunately I had the same view going into that draft 2 years ago with all the picks we had. H&H just totally fucked it up. Say what you want about banner, but the guy pretty much just gave this franchise a second life with his t rich trade, after H&H fucked up a golden opportunity to turn the franchise around with all those picks. You don't normally get a 2nd chance like that in the NFL only 2 seasons later.

HitsRus, what makes the front office a joke in my eyes IS the fact that they fired Chud after only one year. If this doesn't happen, then of course the front office gets a pass. Hey, just like with the TR trade, this may work out. I just want to read other people's opinions that are pro this move (like yours), and not just get railed for having mine.

edit: like_that, good post as well

I am hoping this team just holds on to their picks and just drafts the best player available with each of them.

I'm just hoping we re-sign Alex Mack and TJ Ward!

And extend Haden. Let's just lock them up now.

To be quite honest, it was a joke for a long, long time. Did Mikey Boy all of a sudden become a genius, or did they stumble onto some very good talent finally in a draft? When they got Dalton and AJ is when it all came togehter. They got rid of Palmer and CJ and the new, y oung guys werent able to get Bengalized.
I still think Brown is pretty shitty because of how bad they were for so long. By dumb luck in the NFL if you stick around long enough sooner or later you will hit on some guys in the draft.

Hope in one hand, shit in the other and see which one fills up first.

    Mack and Ward are gone.

They will be replaced with low cost options.

I've expressed my opinion over and over again the last few days. I'm not going to repost them for you.

Oh, that's right-that they need a coach and a QB. Sorry.

I read that there was mutual interest in re-upping with Ward. Haven't heard ANY talks about resigning Mack, which really makes no sense unless he absolutely has no interest in returning.

If you are constantly self evaluating, and you have determined that you made a mistake, when do you go about correcting it? Do you wait and hope it works out...or do you go about fixing it promptly? This front office determined that TRich was a mistake, and they jumped on the opportunity to correct it. Why should they continue on with Chud, just because he was 'their' mistake?
....and there are plenty of reasons to think he is/was a mistake. The QB situation didn't help, but as noted earlier in the thread, that might be an excuse for not making the playoffs, but not finishing 4-12. Just contrast the way the Jets played out their season vs. the Browns....the Jets saved their coach's job...the Browns were embarrassing.

Teams in all sports get rid of "mistakes" made by a previous regime much quicker than they do their own. Just how it goes.

The jets did save Rex's job. He told the team a few weeks ago he was basically fired.

No such thing was even thought of in Cleveland. No one really expected this. Maybe they should have floated it out there a week or two ago and see how the players react.

Or Haslan wanted him gone so bad that they didnt want the players to try and rally around hime...

Mack has stated(albeit before the Chud firing) that he really wants to stay.

I've seen no indications that Jimmy Haslaam is Paul Dolan in disguise. The Browns have plenty of cap room.

Both Mack and Ward have stated they want to stay. I see them signing at least one of them. The only guy that has been saying Mack is a goner all along, is Iggy. Just assuming like always. I hope this is another assumption that bites him in the ass.

Was just looking up that stuff.

And also with the new CBA rules, teams have to spend a minimum so owners cannot just sit on the $$$. Thing is...who do the browns give it to? Overpay for free agents? Sign some of their own guys with big $$$?

I would hope they would sign and extend their own pro bowlers first.

Also, this might be the first time the Browns use their franchise tag on somebody not named Phil Dawson.

Why should that make a difference? These are the pros....a good coach has his players prepared playing hard all the time. Moreover, fan opinion, and player opinion shouldn't dictate what football decisions are to be made.

Just was stating off of what you said how the Jets players played to save their coaches job and teh browns didnt. Yeah, they shoulda played hard ,but they didnt. If they knew their coach'sjob was on the line would they have played harder?
