I just hope Haslam and Banner get it right for once. The Colts were 2-14 in 2011 and 11-5 in 2012. It's not a five year plan in the NFL. I want win now and I'm tired of waiting. Cleveland sports fans are the best fans in country and suffered so much its not even funny its sad really deserve a winner for once. I have trust with Jimmy and Joe please get the Browns back to be a force for sake of fans and city! GO Browns.

Really wish they would keep Heckert. Want the new HC to be flexible enough to mold his offense to the players strengths. See Seattle and Washington. If you have players that excel in a certain type of system, you play to those strengths. Shurmur never did this.

You can't really compare what you want the Browns to be with the Colts. There turnaround isn't because of amazing draft and genius off season pickups. It was because their hall of fame QB and their heart and soul of their franchise was out for the season, and they had half retarded backups.

I'm guessing they'll end up with a LB or DE/LB: Jarvis Jones, Manti Te'o Bark Mingo, Damontre Moore?

Maybe a CB: John Banks or DeMarcus Millner?

Hopefully KC takes Geno Smith to free up a defensive player in need.

Jay Glazer announced on twitter that Shurmur and Heckert are fired. No surprises here.

Heckert wasn't awful, but im glad he's out...the Weeden pick sealed his fate with the new boss. Can't make picks like that and expect to keep your job especially after zero winning seasons.

One thing I found interesting was on ESPN's NFL Countdown Chris Mortenson said the Browns' should have a new coach by the end of the week. He didn't make this same type of statement when discussing any other openings. I know they have gotten it wrong before but maybe sources are telling him they are leaning toward O'Brien? Unless Saben or Kelly agreed to terms before their bowls I can't think of other names being tossed around that'd be available.

UPDATE: Add Saints O-line coach Aaron Kromer to the list of HC candidates in Cleveland. Kromer was the interim interim HC this season, serving in that role while interim HC Joe Vitt was suspended for the first six games of the campaign.
    ---
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports has reported that Heckert and Shurmur have been fired, and thus begins the search for replacements in earnest. Stay tuned.
    ---
Ever since Jimmy Haslam bought the Cleveland Browns and installed Joe Banner as his CEO, there have been rumors that GM Tom Heckert and HC Pat Shurmur would be fired by the end of the season, if not sooner. Both men made it through Week 17, but the bell appears to be tolling on "Black Monday." According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Shurmur addressed the team after Sunday's loss in a manner that suggests he is out, and he has not spoken with either Banner or Haslam in weeks.
Both Shurmur and Heckert will be in-demand for roles elsewhere around the league -- possibly reuniting with former co-worker Andy Reid, as he assembles a new staff wherever he lands -- but who is on the Browns' radar? For the new GM, we've been hearing NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi's name quite a bit, but he's not the only candidate; Cabot reports that Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell has been contacted by Cleveland already, and adds that the Bills' Doug Whaley, the Chiefs' Ray Farmer, the Cardinals' Steve Keim and Jason Licht and the Seahawks' John Idzik are also believed to be on the radar.
As for the HC opening, the big name that's been mentioned is Nick Saban, though the latest reports have indicated that he'll stay put at Alabama. League sources have informed Cabot that the Browns will go heavily after Oregon HC Chip Kelly, though they'll have company there. Another possibility is Penn State HC Bill O'Brien, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, though both O'Brien and Kelly are on the Eagles' radar as well.
Some other candidates include Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, 49ers OC Greg Roman, Colts OC Bruce Arians, Denver OC Mike McCoy, Falcons OC Dirk Koetter, Bengals OC Jay Gruden, Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan. Jaguars DC Mel Tucker and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer.
Whoever gets the gigs will be inheriting a roster with some promising young players, as well as the No. 6 overall pick in April's draft.

I actually wouldn't mind Zimmer. He is the main reason for the Bengals success the last 4 years imo.

I would be absolutely sick if the Browns hired Chip Kelly.

Also, if the Bears fire Lovie Smith, i would take a flier on him as well.

I really wanted to make a play for David Shaw, but seems like he's set on staying at Stanford for a while.

No doubt in my mind he would run the fucking ball, that's for sure.

    I would be as well.

You gotta be certain when you make a hire. I think he is way too much of a wild card

I wouldn't mind Greg Roman if they go the co-ordinator route. He will definitely run the ball as well.

I think Zimmer would be a sound choice for anyone but they need an offensive minded guy somewhere.

After posting on here I checked out some other forums and there is a lot of buzz about Aaron Kromer as the new coach. I know it's just forum talk but someone claimed to have info that he'll be announced Friday. It'd be in line with Mort saying on ESPN that the Browns would announce their coach within the week.

Also, Kromer has some connections to Lombardi. Both were in Oakland at the same time.

Kelly would be intriguing....the defense is good, I would take him over just about everyone else being mentioned.

From what I hear it looks like job will be offered to Kromer by end of week. Guy is a Margaretta grad. Understands the Cleveland tradition and will actually use T-Rich.

Do not want Kromer. 2-4 as Interim with the Saints and all that offensive firepower. No thanks.
