2013 Cleveland Browns Thread: RIP Chud

  • shook_17
Who changed this thread title? Its dumb as fuck. Chud being fired is a blessing. The guy went 4-12 with 5 pro bowler 6 if you count the alternate Tj Ward. And 4 pro bowlers on the offensive side. When Chud and Norv were hired they said they could mold Weeden into a winner. The FO didn't want to into the season with Weeden but Chud and Norv convinced them. Simply winning 4 games is unacceptable. I know Chud wasn't their first second third or fourth option. I truly believe he was a stop gap until this year. I never was a fan of the hire but I rooted for the guy. I root for the name on the front not the back. I really believe Haslam wants a winner in here. You don't spend 1 billion dollars to see a loser.

This job is attractive. 2 1st round picks a lot of cap room. 4 Pro bowlers on offense and a young team. I don't care what outsiders say this job is attractive. The new coach will have his choice on HIS QB in the 1st round or playmakers and rolling with Hoyer.

He was a troll in Philly and make things miserable in that organization. He was always jealous of Andy Reid, and was bound and determined to show everyone here that he was more than just a bean counter.

I have been so down on him because I knew this is how things would play out with him.

This is what happens when you bring Joe Banner into an organization.

He creates distrust and paranoia between the players and front office, and sits around like a half ass version of Dr. Evil.

The guy is a first class bum, and knowing we have a crook for an owner I am not surprised they get along so well.
When banner was president the eagles made the playoffs 8 out of 11 seasons he was there. They went 4 years in a row with a NFC championship appearance , and also a Super Bowl appearance. Yeah the guy is a bum LOL.

Immature if the browns have that type of resume in 12 years you will find another reason to bitch.

Maybe. Maybe not. It could come down to this point though. What control will they give a HC on whom to draft? I could see the more well groomed coaches only agree if they get to basically make that call.

Andy Reid was 100% responsible for picking the players.

Joe Banner was nothing but a bean counter.

In Cleveland, Joe Banner has final say on personnel.

You do realize that we have a bean counter picking players and not Andy Reid (who was responsible for their success) don't you?

We hired a 1st year personnel man to run the team. It defies reason.

He had 3 different QB's play, and they traded away their running back mid-season. Of course they went 4-12. They were supposed to.
LOL. The guy will pocket millions for flippin his dick the next 2 years. Poor fella.

Oh yeah, the eagles just paid banner a shit ton of money to sit on his ass for 12 years. Continue on with your troll act though you old miserable fuck.

He was in charge of the business operations. That is what team Presidents usually do. They don't get jealous they aren't in the limelight like Joe Banner and try and move in on the personnel side.

Yeah... Not bad for finishing 1-11 to end the year.
Was any coaches of recent memory that bad with less talent??? Romeo? Mangini?

As a Steelers fan.....Cleve getting Wiz would scare me the most. I think you'd get immediate playoff type results.

Not sure if he can take a team all the way.

Browns players are going ballistic... This could end very, very poorly. I heard the reason for the firing was because Chud would not release Weeden. At that point, the brass thought that Chud didn't hold his players accountable and was too "chummy" with them. No wonder they all liked him.

Why would he need to release Weeden? Wouldnt that be the job of someone above his pay grade?

    These guys are freaking clowns.

Part of the reason the special teams sucked so bad this year was they were releasing the bottom 1/3rd of the roster seemingly every few weeks. Those are the core guys of a special teams unit usually.

It's like a freaking clown car with the unholy Trinity of Haslam/Banner/Lombardi driving the team into a ditch.

Reps for injecting some common sense into this place.

There was a tweet this morning (Mary Kay?) that was along these lines, but the player(s) named that they wanted released were Little or Lauvao

This is what I heard as well.
  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
It's possible. I posted earlier that it may have been Little, and I could certainly see that being the case. Typically, it would be above his pay-grade to release a player. However, if the front office said, "we're going to cut Weeden" and he fought to keep him, that could be where the disconnect was.

Who knows though. Sadly, I'm ready for baseball season. Tired of the Browns and tired of the Cavs.

Peter King reporting the Browns really like Manziel.

This is so Jimmy. He's looking for the headlines, he wants the ESPN trucks camped out and he wants the jersey sales. Winning is secondary to this bunch. Anything involved with marketing and lining his pockets takes precedent.

M&M had top 4 picks as...

    Bridgewater
    Bortles
    Carr
    Manziel

I saw a mock draft earlier today with Carr going to Cleveland. I don't know a thing about him other than his brother was a huge bust.

Maybe it came down to this when they wanted to release Weeden:
Ownership: Chud, you need to tell Weeden he is released.
    Chud: No. YOu tell him
    ownership: No. you tell him
    Chud: No, you tell him
    Ownershiop: No, you tell him
    Chud: No, you.
    Ownership: No. You/
Chud: No, Y. Oh shit, wait I have to call a play....

What...in the fuck are you talking about? Teams say all the time if they really like someone coming into the draft. It was just a report by Peter King. Just stop dude.

I don't know what Haslam or Banner have done to get all the shit they've gotten. They made a mistake in Chud, realized it and cut bait. To the tune of 10.5 million dollars out of Haslams pocket. They didn't see progress with the team as the season went on, they obviously gave up on the coach. With all the draft picks, cap space, etc coming up...they decided to find a new head coach. Big fucking deal. When the Jets found out their coach was on his way out, they played their fucking asses off and he kept his job.

Im with the FO, hope they get their coach and QB this year.
  • se-alum
I think the "giving up" and "lost the locker room" are just cop outs for the front office, because it's an excuse they can use that fans and analysts can't really disprove. However, it seems as if the players are doing all they can to disprove it.

    This. Fucking this.

I think we should thread ban iggy. Fuck him. He's just spewing bullshit. Typical former reporter trying to spin shit and make a story.

Banner was a bean counter for 12 years LOL he wants tebow for the ESPN vans LOL Now he wants manziel for the headlines LOL

Anybody who agrees with iggy should off themselves with a sharp object.
