2012 MLB Random Chatter

  • gorocks99
Pitchers and catchers report this weekend! Fire up the random chatter for this season.

I'm ... worried, excited, and hopeful about the 2012 Red Sox. Worried because they don't have a set rotation yet, and have a new manager, excited because I won't have to watch Fatty McLackey sweat on the mound and hopeful that Crawford will be better in year #2 than year #1, and Valentine will right the ship in the clubhouse, and we won't have bad Papelbon show up in any games against the O's this year.

Speaking of Red Sox, Tim Wakefield is retiring after 19 years in the league: http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7585718/tim-wakefield-retire-17-seasons-boston-red-sox

eemed like he could play forever w/ that knuckleball. Gonna miss Wake even though he was never as flashy as the other guys management. brought in.

To be fair, Crawford can't play much worse. IMO he's too talented to lay another egg

Jamie Moyer in Rockies camp...they want him to make the staff....he's only 49. Was brought up right before Greg Maddux.

That man has been pitching my entire life, and then some. It's nuts that he's still effective enough to be a MLB pitcher.

Seems Terry Francona is enjoying his time off from being a manager. http://deadspin.com/5886676/report-this-is-terry-franconas-new-20+something-girlfriend

IMO the Red Sox will finish 3rd in the division and miss the playoffs. Bobby Valentine is an f***in nutcase and despite success with the Mets, his bosses have always hated him everywhere he goes. Francona is a much better manager than Valentine and I think Boston really under performs this season

    David O'Brien @ajcbraves
Meanwhile, #Braves 2B Dan Uggla, who already had Popeye arms, has even larger guns now after adding about 20 lbs through heavier lifting.

Raul Ibanez signed a 1 year deal with NYY.

I loved him with the mariners.

He'll hit 15 more home runs...while batting .150 this year.

Former Kent St. pitcher Chris Carpenter was apart of the compensation the Red Sox got from the Cubs

    Heard it here first:

Ichiro has hit 22 home runs in the last three years combined. He will hit that this year alone batting third.
    /wishful thinking

Didnt realize he was hitting 3rd. Who is hitting 1/2? Could actually put up some decent RBI numbers if he hits .320.

Thats what I figured. Ackley killed it for me in fantasy. I snagged him 2 days before the call up. If Figgins an get back to his solid OBP, that is a formidable top 3. Though, no power really at all.

But if those three bat over.300 the mariners will improve their shitty offense. They have to.

    Figgins - 3B - S
    Ackley - 2B - L
    Ichiro - RF - L
    Smoak - 1B - S
    Montero - DH - R
    Olivo - C - R
    Carp - LF - L
    Gutierrez - CF - R
    Ryan - SS - R

this is just a guestimate line-up for the M's, but I feel like it could create runs. If the top 3 can get on base, Smoak, Montero, and Olivo can drive the ball.

I feel like they have to improve upon their shitty offense of the last few years.

Ryan Braun just won his appeal of his suspension. He will not be suspended.

Unreal. This has never happened before under the MLB testing. How will this affect his legacy?

IMO, we need facts on why he won. I can't just be like "oh ok he must not have taken steroids".

Also, the NL central just got a bit more interesting. I had the Reds, and probably still do, but this is big for the Brew crew.
