WOW I didn't know that. What a fail.

Yeah, they start their regular season, then do a couple more exhibition games, then continue their regular season. What an epic fail.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!? That is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard of in pro sports!

Wait, here's a question as far as that works.

You need to have a 25-man roster for the regular season. You use the exhibition games to get down to that number, but I know the Pirates, Reds, Indians, etc. aren't down to 25 yet. If you're playing real games now and still have exhibition games to play, do you have to pick "your 25" to take to the real games, while keeping the other guys in camp for the upcoming exhibition ones? Because it seems that most clubs would still be having competitions for things like those final bench/bullpen/end-of-rotation spots on their roster at this time.

Complete guess, but I bet MLB doesnt require you to be down to 25 until your "real" opening day.

However, not sure how you do it with travel. Allowed to assign 25 for the 2 games in Japan, but then re-open the competition?? IE, you could leave off your 4th and 5th starter in lieu of guys competing for the 5th OF spot since those pitchers wont be used anyway...? Dunno.

Real regular season is finally here tonight. Now we can all stare at that thing in the Marlins outfield and go "...dafuq?"

Don't understand why Miami opens at home tonight and then travels to Cincinnati for tomorrow. I guess just to open the new stadium on the biggest stage possible?

Also, Red Sox lost Bailey until at least the all-star break. Fuck. I smell a pretty poor season (read: sitting in 3rd place the whole way) coming in Boston.

This school beat the Pirates three years ago, quite the recruiting tool. Come here, beat a major league team!

So the opening day was in Japan about a week ago, the reds no longer host the first game of the year, and now the defending champs open their season on the road for a one game series... SMH

Agreed. Also Miami does not deserve that ballpark, or a winning team. What a joke.
