    Nice, I like that.

Only problem is he'll probably want Trent Richardson since he's used to running an offense centered around AP.

Or he might be interested in RG3 since he drafted a mobile QB in Tarvaris Jackson and worked with McNabb?

    True.

Maybe RG3 w/ the 4th pick to be his Tarvaris Jackson, and a trade up to #15 for T Rich to be his AP? :D

The only thing I don't like about it is that if/when Shurmur wears out his welcome, we have Chili with head coaching experience already in place...that gives me shivers.
  • IggyPride00
I wonder if Chilly was the first choice the whole time, or if Sherman passed on them so he was the fall back.

Definitely going to have to find him a running back because he ran quite a cave man offense in Minny before the Old Gunslinger took over as the defacto OC.

Grumble grumble... Clueless isn't anything to get excited about. If you've had Adrian Peterson on your FF team, you know why.

Haha, you'll probably swear that Shermer is calling the plays again.
  • BTrev
Peterson put up some monster numbers under Childress... but he really wasn't used much in the passing game, and Clueless was always taking him out in the redzone and around the goal line.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. RG3 to be his Donavan McNabb, not his Tarvaris Jackson.

I'd much rather have Sherman than Childress.

His head coaching tenure in Minnesota was largely a disaster. The players (especially veterans) apparently hated him, and his game plans were rigid and unimaginative (which sounds a lot like the current offense, honestly).

And, if anyone wasn't aware, when he was the OC in Philadelphia he didn't call the plays, Andy Reid did. So for anyone excited about Pat Shurmur relinquishing playcalling duties, I don't think that's anything close to a guarantee.

That's why he and #4 were at eachother's throats, and Favre called him clueless. He was terribly rigid, and would get pissed off if Favre dared change the play at the line.

Cleveland though isn't going to have a QB the credibility authority to disregard his poor play calls the way Favre could.

That is why the Minnesota offense was largely God awful until Favre arrived.

I wonder if we will find out why Sherman didn't work out. Shurmur and Chilly will be 2 peas in a pod though to say the least.

of course both Childress and Sherman are represented by the same agent as Shurmer, Heckert and Holmgren.....never liked this...though it may not be true it gives me the feeling that we only look for candidates that are represented by Lamonte which really limits who we hire......just sayin
how can it not be a conflict of interest when you ar trying to get your client the best deal from your other client ? the agent could raise the ire of Heckert for example by pushng for a better deal but doesnt because he does not want to make his client ( Heckert, Holmgren) upset and he doesnt want to do that
just get the feeling that if you want to coach the Browns you need to have Lamonte as an agent and that will give you a leg up on the competition

If it ends up being Childress, the biggest reason Sherman will have taken Miami's job is that he's best friends with their new HC, Philbin.

Let me save some ppl the trouble of reading that:

Shurmur sucks and so does the talent on offense.

lol, I thought it was a pretty good summary of the article. Particularly the Christmas Eve clock management blunder. Inexcusable.

If you added that Dick Jauron was awesome as the DC then yeah I'd say your summary would have been spot on lol.

Funny thing is Shurmur is now the 4th best HC on the sideline. (Chilly, Jauron, Rhoades)

He did work for Chilly as a position coach in Philly if I am not mistaken.

Will be interesting to see if at any point they have any disagreements about things because Chilly (while he may be an asshole) is far more accomplished than Shurmur. I would probably side with Chilly over Shurmur were I a player as at least he has won some games and done something as a HC in the league.

I thought it was interesting how things flip flopped too. Shurmur used to work for Childress and now the shoe could be on the other foot. Have heard that Childress could "mellow out" not having the responsibilities of being a HC.

    When does FA start?

March 13th, 6 weeks before the draft.

Should give us a good feel for what direction the Browns are heading going into the draft.
  • OQB
I believe the more I think about our QB scenario, the best option this year is to sign Matt Flynn and let him and Colt fight for the job.....Flynn has been in the west coast his entire career with the same coordinator, a great mentor in Rogers, and good playmakers around him. He was a 7th round pick in 2008 so you really could get a good deal done with him. That way we can address other needs in the draft and if they (McCoy/Flynn) aren't the answer, you go get a QB with your #1 pick in 2013.

I look for the Browns to really spend some money in FA this year, and hopefully add some important younger pieces to this team.
