After Jones's combine I think Blackmon would have gone behind him still. I know Alshon Jeffery probably would have been in the mix, as I know after last season he was considered a top 10. However he came into this season fat and out of shape. If he gets his head together and shows up to the combine in shape I agree with Wes. He will shoot up draft boards. He is considered to have the best hands in the draft as well, but has character concerns.

Hell Floyd or Jeffery are more of a physical freak than he is. 6' 1" 215 lbs (Blackmon's measurements) and lacking elite speed doesn't say physical freak to me.
Actually now that I look more closely, you are right. I thought he was 6'3-6'4 range, and 215 while isn't bad..certainly isn't great.

I still think he stays top 5 though...he simply produces.

FYI...Tom Heckert will be on WKNR with Rizzo this morning at 11am and on 92.3 with Bull and the Fox at 4pm.

Jerry Rice didn't have great speed, nor was he a "freak". Blakmon makes up for his height with a very long arm span and he is very strong. He will be a top 5 pick IMO.

The Sporting News' Russ Lande has the Browns taking RG3 at #4 and Alshon Jeffery at #22. I'd say that would probably be a very popular outcome for a lot of Browns fans.

FYI - for the guy that was pimping Juron Criner from Arizona. He has him going #30 overall to SF.
    30. San Francisco 49ers: Juron Criner, WR, Arizona. Michael Crabtree improved a lot in 2011, but the Ninners still need more production from their receivers. Criner is vastly underrated; we believe he could start immediately and be a playmaker in San Francisco's offense.

That's a big difference from going undrafted. He looks very good.

Transcript from Heckert on WKNR. I did not listen. This is cut & pasted from a poster on the OBR...
    • wants to win. bottom line is winning football games. upset probably more than fans.
    • his job is to fix the browns and win.
    • pretty good handle on FA. they have a "wish list." hard thing to judge because other teams are looking at same guys and do those players want to come to CLE.
    • not looking for a lot of FA guys. trying to fill a couple holes.
    • admitted Browns need playmakers but kind of deferred when Rizz pushed him on WRs but admitted they need guys who can score TDs
    • has talked to other teams about trades but its early
    • o-coordinator - h&h have some input but its "pat's decision." has talked to a "lot of guys" (those were his exact words)
    • sounds like Pat, H&H are all on same page which was one of the big things I know they promoted
    • 60 guys interviewed at combine & can bring 30 to facility
    • if you dont have a good draft you dont get better so they put a lot of work into this (I got impression they put more resources than any other team - thats my opinion)
    • not going to stay at #4 if there is someone they dont like or they think they can get him lower. (I again got impression he is not at all afraid to move down again. made it sound like his MO)
    • have not ruled out taking a DEF player
    • their Big Board is set but after superbowl/middle of Feb. it will already be almost locked up. this tells me they care more about tape then they do combine or bowl games, etc. - most important point I feel

they then have some meetings after that to move guys around but final board sounds like it is ultimately him, Holmgrem and a few select guys
    • Under circumstances, felt Colt played well. with a whole offseason and a few better players, "he can play in this league."
    • Heckert runs everything by the Walrus. Would not have a problem taking a QB at 4 or any position for that matter if they are sold on the player.
    • Does not regret Kam Wimbley trade because at time they assumed they were going to stay 3-4 and he was a 4-3 guy. he also expected Kam to leave in FA.
    • Sheard - had no way of knowing he was going to be that good but he did everything they expected and hoped for when they watched him on tape in college
    • Phil Taylor - for # of snaps, he had a great season. I got impression he was to get more guys in the rotation to bring otu the best in Taylor
    • Little - felt he exceeded expectations in terms of starts and snaps; showed enough to please him and very tough kid which he likes
    • have not talked to Hillis' camp since mid-season. but hasnt talked to any of the FA's so this is not that out of the ordinary for team. wont talk to them until season officially over
    • Feels he is on schedule with rebuilding team since he got here. Rizz indicated that you need 30 solid players and Heckert agreed. Heckert emphasized fact that literally every single draft pick played this season and he expects to be a lot better
    • Wouldn't talk about Matt Flynn but seemed to agree with Rizz that Flynn could and will ask for 40-50 mill
    • Colt and Seneca will both be at Training Camp; likes Lewis the guy they signed from Rams too
    • He legitimately seems like he knows every player on every roster
    • was in good spirits; was laughing; pretty good interview.

^^ im glad they put more stock in tape then they do the combine. in my opinion the combine is vastly overrated. you want to see how somebody plays, turn on the film.

^^ Who do you think the Browns might look to trade, BR? (Besides McCoy)

I heard a crazy rumor about a Hillis sign & trade to New England (who is all over Hillis' jock) for Mallet. Like I said, crazy.

They are likely going to have 13-14 picks in this draft. It could be picks for players too.

Didn't NE spend 2 or 3 draft picks on RBs in the second/3rd round last season?

    I know they took Ridley.

Not that the Hoodie would care (about their differences) but it would be interesting to see Hillis & Josh McDaniels reunited after Hillis supposedly banged McDaniels' wife.

Bill got a boner for Hillis after he tore them apart last season.

Wouldnt be a bad idea if Hillis is planning on leaving anyways. I've always been high on Mallet. A year being groomed behind TB cant hurt, either.

    FIFY.

Fuck that trade. Heckert better now all the Patriots to trade rape them. I hate how the Pats always have these ridiculous deals fall in their lap.

Criner and Foles were beasts for me in ncaa last year. Too bad my defense gave up 50 pts per game

    From PFT...

One of the problems for the Falcons as they attempt to re-shape the roster is that they’ve already used their first- and fourth-round picks in this year’s draft as part of the trade to acquire Julio Jones in last year’s draft. Jones is a talented receiver who had a solid rookie year, but if he’s anything short of spectacular going forward, that trade is going to look like a mistake. It’s going to be hard for Dimitroff to “get better in many, many areas” when he used up five draft picks to get Jones.

    Gotta love Heckert...

    Told ya S&L lol. He's a BEAST.

The Foles/Criner connection was seriously not too far behind Barkley/Woods/Lee in terms of skill, not as much as you would think when you typically compare USC and Arizona.

It was a joy watching Arizona's passing attack considering what we had to watch when Ohio State played.

I agree, he's not necessarily as gifted athletically as Fitz or Megatron, or even Jeffry, the way he uses his body, and his pure receiving skills are elite. I think the NFL comparison for him is TO (at least that's what David Shaw said after the Fiesta Bowl and I agree), who wasn't a jumping freak but was elite nonetheless because of his strength and receiving skills.

Could Baylor be to Cleveland, what Glenville is to Ohio State?

What makes Taylor an NFL scout? As long as he had a good relation with him, he is going to say good things about him.

He isn't very good at situational awareness on the field. I'm sure he knows a lot about front office stuff

    Touche', touche'.

But look at it from my POV...last mock I looked at had him in the 7th round lol admittedly I didn't watch must Zona games though.

7th round to 30th overall is a RIDICULOUS jump...obviously just my opinion, but I doubt he goes 1st round. But who knows.. (that's why I love the NFL draft)
