CBJ signed Mark Dekanich, guy from the Nashville farm system, as their backup goalie. He has good AHL stats but lacks ... and that's putting it kindly ... NHL experience. Yikes, Mase better be ready to step it up a notch this season, he's gonna have to play a lot of games I think.

I don't know about this one. Turco could've been got for cheap.
  • gorocks99
Yeah, tough to grade this move. Everything I've read says Dekanich is NHL material, although probably not a star or even a consistent #1, but I figured we had to get a guy that could go out there and start 20-30 games and push Mason and make him work. Well .. we'll see how this experiment goes, I guess. At least we have a full-time goaltending coach now.

Brad Richards is headed to the Rangers .. 9 years, $60m ($6.67m per year). $50m of it comes in the first five years of the contract. Great cap hit for the Rangers, but another cap circumvention contract.

Not that it needs any help, but this ought to make the next Jacket-Dead Things game interesting...

Tomas Kaberle signed by Carolina, 3 yr, $12.75m

good riddance, so overrated. Bruins picked up Joe Corvo for half the price of kaberle

Blues have signed Jamie Langenbrunner and Jason Arnott to one year deals.

Radek Martinek signs w/ the CBJ, 1 year $2.2m.

Joe corvo was like by the Carolina faithful but he was an under performer. Hopefully a change of venue will work for him. That being said, caniac nation is stoke to be getting kaberle.

Why? He'll probably do well in carolina because it's a low key market. He's overrated and can't handle pressure.

Reports are the Jets are headed to a new Central division in 2012 with Nashville, Chicago, Minnesota, and Dallas, and possibly Columbus: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=371566&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

Buffalo making some noise in the offseason for the first time in a while landing Leino and Ehrhoff (sp?) and someone else whose name escapes me. Great hockey city. Good to em trying to improve outside of the farm system...finally.

Their new owner will prove to be a very good one.

    Are you thinking of Regher?

Either way, Leino got severely overpaid. (A lot of people did)
  • I Am Ahab
Yes sir, Rehger. And yes lots of Buffalo fans are complaining about Leino being over paid. But many seem to be excited just to see the effort by management, something that has been lacking since they let Briere walk.

    Chris Osgood just retired.

was hoping he'd end up somewhere else. Glad it wasn't a 10yr plus deal so that he has a chance to go somewhere else.

When St. Louis retires, Stamkos is not going to be the same player. He'll be putting up Tavares like numbers.

He will not be in the same tier as Crosby, Ovechkin, and Malkin.

I like the logo for Winnipeg

I wouldn't be surprised if Air Canada stole that logo lol.
