I agree with what 2kool said but I also agree with you. It will be refreshing to watch some younger talent play instead of the guys Ferry brought in when Judas was here. It's always nice to be surprised than to have that "ho hum" season where LeQuit chokes in the playoffs. -

They started late and look what happened with them.
It could happen.
Those two did have the advantage of being friends with people in high places, which gave them booking advantages and job security that the average guy didn't have. Unless BR has this long-standing friendship with HHH he's never told us about. In which case, he could be main eventing in a couple years.
Hell, Page entered pure magnificent bastard territory with how he was able to get himself mixed in with the Benoit/Raven-n-Flock feud in WCW and use that as a springboard to main event status (including that title loss to David Arquette...god bless Vince Russo!), while Raven and Benoit stayed in the middle card treadmill. -

Yeah, can't say I was "tight" with anyone like that. The guys who trained me said that, at my size, had I started out in my early 20's I probably would've went somewhere. I was bigger (bodyweight & musculature) than about 99% of the guys in the regional indy circuit. Plus I had a good gimmick.
With the lingering lower disc issue in my back, I'm glad I'm out of the business. -

That's why I'm very satisfied with Cleveland sports right now. Browns, Cavs, and Indians are all led by young talent and I'm excited to see what happens.
Back on topic, I was thinking more and more about the Hickson/Casspi trade and this was my thought. If Thompson develops to be as good as Hickson (worst case scenario IMO, I love his game, loved him at Texas, and he was one of the few I was happy taking at #4), then we essentially drafted Casspi with the 4th pick. Is his ceiling as high as some of the other players we could have taken at 4? Probably not, but he's a hard worker, and he can play the 3, a position at which there was no one to take at pick #4. It's a trade where you have to say "let's see what happens with all the pieces before we can assess" kind of thing. -

As odd as it may seem, some of my fondest Cleveland sports memories were from some of the crapiest Cleveland teams when they were having a "youth movement" or the nation had very low expectations of them. The Tribe of the late 90's and Lebron James led Cavs were good but my best memories were from the Price/Daugherty/Miracle at Richfield days and stuff like Lenny Barker's perfect game and Eckersley's no hitter.lhslep134;820697 wrote:That's why I'm very satisfied with Cleveland sports right now. The average size of an NBA center is 6'10. Anderson Varejao is 6'11. How is he undersized?
Admit you were wrong. -
MulvaI haven't been on here for a few weeks, so forgive me for being behind.
The Tristan Thompson pick sucked balls (obviously this is just my opinion). Drafting a guy with the #4 overall pick because he is a defensive presence is stunning.
That said, I loved moving Hickson. Dude was a bum. No D, no mental game, and inconsistent offense. Never liked him at all. Casspi is alright, and probably should start at 3 in my opinion. Taller, slightly better version of Anthony Parker from what I've seen. -
BR1986FBThis is from "Dear Dan Gilbert" on Facebook...
"#Cavs and Canton mayor to hold major announcement tomorrow at noon. Speculation is it's about a new #NBA D-League team but no confirmation." -
daveThat doesn't make much sense. Maybe a preseason game in Canton or something.
-
Midstate01Cabs to announce canton dleague team. Announcement tomorrow.

Really? -
daveAre most DLeague teams that close to their NBA affiliate? Seems strange to me but I guess they don't really compete. Should put it in Columbus, Cincy, or Toledo.
-
JesterI heard the Cavs were announcing a new d-league team tomorrow.
-
SportsAndLadyWho gives a shit where D league teams are located lol
-

na, they always play their wine and gold game at the university of akron. -
dave
same people who go to AAA and AA baseball games. D League is getting very popular actually. Teams are making better use of it now, rather than having young talent sit on the end of the bench being inactive.SportsAndLady;822852 wrote:Who gives a shit where D league teams are located lol -
SportsAndLadyPeople who go to minor league BASEBALL games care about the LOCATION of D league teams?
Lol wut -
sportswizuhrdI heard Youngstown. Maybe that has changed.
-
Midstate01“@PDcavsinsider: Looks like #Cavs establishing their own DLeague team in Canton. Formal announcement Thu”
There ya go -
daveIt's really not hard to comprehend, but not surprised you can't figure it out. Minor league sports all cater to the same audience, families. Doesn't matter if it's baseball, basketball, indoor football, hockey.
With the expected 60% decrease in attendance I'm surprised Gilbert is doing this so close to Cleveland, must think it's a good long term investment for the Cavs brand. -
SportsAndLadyIts a D league team stop acting like its some huge deal lol some people will complain about anything I guess
-
Midstate01I think it's a great thing!!

Hey I do too. -
like_thatMost D-League teams are in random places such as Sioux Falls. So, Canton, what's not to like?

Won't even show games featuring current players. NBA Draft from '80's and Slam Dunk competition's and WNBA regular season games. Only way I would watch any of the programming they are airing now is that I know they wouldn't show it once the lockout was over.hoops23;820116 wrote:Yeah, not a big fan of that move either...
Mainly because it comes off as more childish than anything. At the end of the day, these are the guys (the players) that make your franchise... Also, it's unfair to some of the guys who aren't egotistical maniacs.
