The NBA has been awful for years, but why would they change anything....the ratings are up and that is all Stern cares about. Hell, I have no desire to watch the finals, but I am in the minority. I heard this morning that the ratings are up from last year....I was surprised just because of the two markets that were in it last year. FUCK THE NBA and their lousy ass product. -

Because the MLB isn't the NBA. 1 or even 2 stars won't dominate in baseball like they can in a game of basketball. Does this really need explained to you?

I understand that point but why penalize teams for following the rules, they did nothing illegal. -

Nobody said anything about illegal.
However, I wouldn't expect the ratings to be as high next season. people are interested in this Heat experiment, but that interest will die down. I believe the NBA lost a lot of money again this year.
I think some changes are needed. The NBA does do some things good, such as the rookie cap and the bird rights, but a soft cap is lame and so is the MLE. -

Oh, I understand Miami had the cap completely but I still think there was collusion with Riley using Wade as his "messenger." The whole "let's join forces" shit had been going on years prior to that. In NBA "terms" was it technically "legal?" Sure but it wasn't. -

I think a hard cap is stupid for the sole purpose of breaking up the "super teams". The idea behind it is to help smaller market teams remain in the black while being able to field a competitive team, which is a good thing. -

I'm all for a closer group of teams top to bottom, but front offices and scouts are to blame for a lot of that, some teams make a lot of stupid moves which set them back even further from the field. I do like the rookie cap and think football needs this badly. -

The shift toward favoring a hard cap has been occurring since before the Heat came together. Early last year the owners proposed getting rid of the luxury tax system and reducing max contract amounts and length. It wasn't a complete hard cap proposal then, but it was already moving that way. The Big 3 thing may have pushed it over the top, but they definitely weren't the cause of it. -

Miami played by the same rules that the Lakers and Celtics play by. It's not changing. -

I stopped reading when Dynasty started posting because I knew he'd be spewing his stupid nonsense. :rolleyes: I'll have to dig back into the archives but when LeChoke first announced his decision (or maybe prior to it), Stern made a comment that came across as "not being thrilled" that James left (or could leave) Cleveland.
Your second part is what they don't get. Bosh & LBJ decided to "join forces" in Miami. Guys like Gasol & Garnett were TRADED to their respective teams....BIG difference. -

They all played within the rules. You know the Lakers have the highest paid roster in the NBA right?
