Cleveland Browns 2011 Super Awesome In-Season Thread

I'm thinking that the Bengals may be looking at Julio Jones just as much as A.J. Green. Potentially Blaine Gabbert as well.

That could end up being big for the Browns, potentially.

I can see ARZ selecting Peterson a spot ahead of us though...I don't think they really want to get another young QB and go through all that again. I think when FA opens up they will try to get Kevin Kolb, McNabb, or even Marc Bulger. If that would happen, then I could see the Browns trading down a few spots for another couple picks and get Jones/Quinn or Prince/Bowers. I don't know if it's smoke or what but Heckert seems to like Bowers and thinks his knee is fine after seeing the doctor's clear him and everything.

The NFL will reopen tomorrow....Browns will FINALLY get their playbooks.

I'd be very happy with Paea in the 2nd round.

What do you guys think about Marvin Austin if Paea is gone?

Side note: Hillis is doing the Top 10 tonight on Letterman.

I think Austin is a lazy underachiever.

    Like both Paea & Austin.

With Austin, Quinn and possibly Greg Little as possible targets for the Browns, could the ghost of Butch Davis be returning?

here's our first round pick

He would look good in Brown and Orange.

Sure hope they do not WASTE a 6 pick on a WR. Hopefully the management will not be that stupid.

    The hot team: Cleveland.

Now the Browns could sit where they are in the first four rounds -- at overall picks 6, 37, 70 and 102 -- but I'd be very surprised. I'm told GM Tom Heckert has an itchy trigger finger this morning, and is looking forward to dealing out of number six if the Browns' preferred pick is not there. If Gabbert's there, as Mayock and Gosselin project he will be, there's a chance the Browns could get a good extra pick (from Tennessee, moving up two spots) or more (from a QB-needy team down in the round). Cleveland could be the team that thinks it could turn its first-round pick into a good second-rounder in this draft, a first-rounder next year, and something else.

Remember a couple of things about Cleveland: Heckert learned from working under Trader Andy Reid, and he's not scared of losing out on a player by moving a few spots. Club president Mike Holmgren, from observing Bill Walsh and Ron Wolf and from his own beliefs, loves to wheel and deal too. Heckert and Holmgren strongly trust their gut about players. Say they want a pass-rusher and franchise receiver badly. They're the types who's say, "We'd rather have Titus Young and Brooks Reed this year, and an extra one next year, than Robert Quinn or Julio Jones this year.'' The Browns could end up sitting tight, but if their guy or guys aren't there, they'll move.

    Someone who makes sense!

Jay Glazer seems to think that the Browns will trade down, WAY down, with the Falcons so they (ATL) can grab Julio Jones. Vikings also currently talking to Browns about moving up.

I dont like this. Sooner or later you need to draft impact players. I realize that the more picks we have the more holes we can fill. I dont like it though, we need some impact guys on this team.

#Browns GM Tom Heckert said he's talked to "6-7" teams about a trade. New England isn't one of them, he said

GM Tom Heckert said most of the teams he's talked aren't looking 2 trade up for QB

**BREAKING NFL NEWS** Source: Patriots have a deal in principle with a top 11 team to move up in draft.. Still working on team

Probably/hopefully the deal where they trade their current 1st rd pick, their current 2nd rd pick, current 3rd rd pick, and next year's first rd pick.
  • Sonofanump
Reported Newton is gone. If Buffalo takes Gabbert, I say the Browns keep the pick unless blown away by a trade.

I don't know if I like that deal

Sounds like Heckert is trying to stockpile picks in the late 1st & 2nd round. That's where he made his $$ (2nd rounders) in Philly. He'll find starters there but not likely elite, impact players.

According to the draft chart it should take Atlanta's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, plus a 2nd next year, or a 1st next year instead of the 2nd next year and the 3rd this year.

Mike Mayock (NFL Network) just said Julio Jones will go #6.......but NOT to Cleveland & the trade will blow your mind.
