It just surprises me with all of the coaching positions on the hot seat....and a bunch of these rumors that Cowher wants to come back and Gruden will entertain the idea etc....that nobody has even brought up Tony Gungy.

I don't think he wants to come back and certaintly wouldn't come to the Browns because of the lack of talent we do have....just thought it would be interesting to bring up.

Dungy has said many times that teams are finally learning that he isn't coming back.

after watching the orange bowl game last night, i wouldn't mind drafting andrew luck. that kid is a stud and is gonna be an elite qb in the NFL. 6'4 235 pounds! i don't see a flaw in his game. sorry colt mccoy i like ya and want ya to win here in cleveland but if there is anyway we can get luck we WILL take him. but odds are he doesn't fall to us. but i can dream, right?

I wondered if and when Steve Mariucci's name would get brought up.

Unless you have the #1 pick, your not getting Luck. I do not think Mallett or Newton is worthy of the #6 pick and I do not think either would be an upgrade over McCoy. I could be wrong.

I like AJ Green, I just dont like drafting wr's that high. I think the Browns need to address the defensive line in the first round. I'd be happy with guys like Fairley, Dareus, Bowers. The Browns def need some major upgrades at WR, I would like to see them do it through FA or even later in the draft. I think a guy like Michael Floyd(ND), Greg Litte (UNC) will be there in the 2nd round.

I wouldnt complain if they took Green or Blackmon in the 1st round though

The Browns desperately need a #1 WR, so unless you can get Vincent Jackson or any of the other (very few) free agent #1 receivers, you have to at least show McCoy that they are trying to upgrade the receiving position to build his confidence in himself and the organization.

I'm sure Tim Couch felt very angry when the FO was continually drafting non-lineman after he was sacked more than anyone in the NFL year after year. You can't tell me he knew he was going to suck without a line and a FO that would upgrade the position to help him. The same thing is true for McCoy. He sees that the FO keeps Robiskie, Massaquoi, etc. and he will not feel as confident as he would with Vincent Jackson or AJ Green catching his passes.

That is why I think they should draft AJ Green, Julio Jones, or Blackmon...you must get a #1 WR to be successful in the NFL. These other guys (Robiskie, Massaquoi) will all improve greatly when they are not the #1 target.

IMO, Julio Jones will be their pick.

I've been a huge Julio Jones fan. I think it would be nice to trade down a few spots and still be able to snag him.

if you read my post the right way i said odds are it doesn't happen and i can dream, i didn't say hes going to fall to us. i would rather have colt mccoy over newton and mallet. but as ive said the whole time we need a reciever. my order is green blackmon jones. any one of those i will be happy because its a huge upgrade. but if we could snag a stud FA wide out. i would go best DB or right side of the offensive line.

id take blackmon first. physical freak and a gamer.

green next. can't argue with his talent.

i'd avoid jones. always seemed to disappear in games.

He showed up in the big ones though (coincidently all losses)

    @ South Carolina 8 rec 118 yards 1 TD
    @ LSU 10 rec 89 yards 1 TD
    @ Auburn 10 199 yards 1 TD

He really only had 2 bad games, against Florida (4 for 19) and Ole Miss (1 for 8)

Blackmon is a freak....very strong and great hands. He's not as tall as Green or Jones, but I believe he's the best of the 3. I would take any one of them though.

Adam Schefter is tweeting that the Browns will interview Rams OC Pat Shurmur and that he may be the favorite for the job. His uncle was Holmgren's DC in Green Bay from 94-98. Pat worked for Andy Reid previous to the Rams.

They might have worse WRs than we do.

    ^ Yes it sure did.

On the draft note. I do not like Julio Jones, he dissapears too much like already stated.

Their receivers looked like shit, and they have a rookie QB. The WR's were dropping game changing balls.
  • grodt
As far as a receiver goes my order of preference would be Green, Jones, Blackmon but there isn't really a whole lot separating them. That being said I think I'd rather go defense with the first pick and take a WR in the 2nd round or wait and see if one of these guys falls and trade back into the first round to grab them.
  • se-alum
I wonder what the chances are of the Browns going back to the 4-3 defense with a new coach??
  • IggyPride00

We already have a pair of 2nd round receivers that are nothing more than average. We need a game breaker, not another serviceable wide receiver to add to an already below average group.

Who do they lose to FA? Are 1/3 time Rogers and Rubin both back?

i bet they try to trade rogers. and i think the defense all depends on the new HC

Do any of you think we could land a veteran #1 wr like Vincent Jackson or sidney rice in free agency this off-season, then look to get a big time pass rusher with that #6 pick....

Not without a big name coach imo.

Oh, look, Miyagi speak in "first person"! How interesting.

BRF appreciates you being a Browns fan, though!
