I'm a big believer that you don't need great corners to have a good defense, because if the front 7 are great, your corners are going to look great. Look at Pittsburgh, they haven't really had a lockdown corner, but they always seem to get good production out of their secondary.

That's not to say I wouldn't be happy with Peterson, but I feel if we are going to go defense (i'm still saying take a WR first round) go D-line.

That is true to an extent, but I'm sure the Steelers are wishing they had some better corners after their showing against the Packers in the Super Bowl.....

If Peterson is the BPA at the Browns pick I wouldn't hesitate to grab him. D-Line & WR is a GLARING need but if Peterson is the best available why not fix the secondary for the next 7-10 years?

Not sure I agree with that. Just the learning curve alone might prevent me from selecting a corner given the circumstances ie D line. There isn't nearly the turnaround time in getting a Dlineman up to speed. I think we'd benefit more quickly going D line imo.

Sam Sheilds sure didn't have a learning curve this year for Green Bay and he was a WR in college. Haden would have been farther ahead if he got more PT early in the season, he did pretty good once he got more. I think they can make a big impact at secondary right away. I am all for taking the BPA, I hope it is a defensive player and not AJ Green, I do not want.

I'm not saying it's not possible, just less likely. I always like to take the BPA but I may be leaning toward the BP d lineman as opposed to BP at corner.

This team just needs a serious injection of talent EVERYWHERE.

Very good points. In my opinion an average WR will beat a great CB if given time. The Browns desperately needs a pass rusher, so I think that's the most logical choice on the defensive side of the ball. However, the Browns could go in a number of directions and I think could be a solid pick.

I agree, there will likely not be a disappointment in any direction. Botch Davis isn't in charge...

Not gonna lie, it's pretty intriguing to have a secondary anchored by Haden, Peterson, and Ward. A good secondary can also free up the front 7 to do more blitzing.

What's the word on D'Qwell Jackson?
  • OQB
A good secondary can also create a thing called a "coverage sack"...which is just as good as a regular sack.

Haven't heard much on his recovery. I know he wouldn't be at the top of my list of "priorities" to re-sign.

^Even with the uncertainty of free agency and not having many LB's on the roster?

Dude is a China Doll and he's kinda undersized. Sure, he makes a boatload of tackles but he has the "Andra Davis Syndrome" (tackles 5 yards downfield, never an impact play in the backfield). He's coming off of back-to-back pec injuries. Plus, I think he's kinda pissed off at the organization for not signing him to a fat contract this past offseason.
  • OQB
lol fair enough, just wanted to hear your reasoning behind it.....I'm all for moving on while getting younger and more talented.

Watch it on the Andra Davis bashing. He's my favorite player of all time.

Kiper has the Browns taking JJ Wats in the first round now.

I have been a huge fan of drafting AJ Green, but I am leaning towards the defense pick. We can get a WR in the later rounds I feel like.

I agree. It seems 2/3 of the teams are going defense in the first round. There will be plenty of offensive talent in the 2nd and 3rd round.

It wouldn't surprise me if Green falls out of the top 10 or even 15.

I would take Watt....but not with the sixth pick, I would trade down to maybe 12-15 and grab him there.

Was just about to post this. Kiper's "Count Chocula" hair has apparently sucked his brain out.

Kiper and McShay have a great job.....watch football all day, talk to NFL GM's, then debate whether who is going to get drafted.

Must be nice, Weather men/women and Draft gurus are about the only jobs where you can be completely wrong and still have a job, lol where do I sign up?

I agree. They should look into this.

I'd rather take the BPA at 6. There will be plenty of talent available there. Unless they get blown away by another team I hope we stay at 6.
  • OQB
This draft is full of quality D-lineman....I think we are in good hands with the front office we have.
