Yeah if you are trading to get aaron rodgers then you do it...not to get a college player in the draft..that's just dumbCommander of Awesome;1030017 wrote:In this highly unlikely hypothetical situation I would easily trade Joe Thomas for any of the good QBs in this league. Theyre just more important. Just the way it is, I wouldn't want to trade Joe Thomas, as I think he's our best player and love that he signed an extension here.
If you don't have a good QB (which we don't) you can't win in this league. Plain and simple. -

The Panthers didn't give up the "barn" for Newton. They had the #1 pick and Manning was drafted by the Chargers (#1 pick) and then traded to the Giants for Rivers (#4 pick) the Giants did give up their other first round pick and a 3rd. Not the same scenario's.Commander of Awesome;1030029 wrote:For the unproven thing, I guess NY Giants shouldn't have taken a chance on Eli Manning since he was unproven? Carolina Panthers shouldn't have taken a chance on Cam Newton? Colts on Peyton, SD on Rivers, Packers on Rodgers? As a franchise you have take a shot on a QB and one as highly touted as Luck is as good of a bet as I've seen coming out of college. -

Don't recall any of those teams trading their best player (plus draft picks) for those QBs.Commander of Awesome;1030029 wrote:For the unproven thing, I guess NY Giants shouldn't have taken a chance on Eli Manning since he was unproven? I'm not sticking up for him, I just know he's not 5'4 so I just wanted to point out taht you're wrongCommander of Awesome;1029808 wrote:And I can tell you I'm not a ginger. Nice sticking up for your brother fail. -
OQB
You don't do that.BR1986FB;1029912 wrote:Interesting comment was mentioned about the possibility of trading up to #1 with the Rams (if they get the top pick) to draft Luck. Some think that the Rams would request that Joe Thomas be part of that package with the thought being that Kalil might be gone when the Rams pick. Do you do this?
I don't. -

But you know I'm a ginger? Interesting. Just pointing out the fail in your thought process.SportsAndLady;1030053 wrote:I'm not sticking up for him, I just know he's not 5'4 so I just wanted to point out taht you're wrong -

So two first (one being 4th overall) and a third for #1 overall. I think that Luck might be worth a little more than Eli on draft day, but that should be a decent basis for the value of the pick.Skyhook79;1030040 wrote:Manning was drafted by the Chargers (#1 pick) and then traded to the Giants for Rivers (#4 pick) the Giants did give up their other first round pick and a 3rd. zach24ozYou cant trade one of your best players and draft picks to get just a QB. I would love to have Luck, but you saw what this OL looked like this year and if you take Thomas away then it looks that much worse. The only way you could make this work is if you go ahead and pickup some guys to replace Thomas and add a WR or 2 in free agency. If the FO doesnt get any FAs before the draft, there's no way you do this trade.

BR1986FBApparently this dude works for the Bleacher Report and posted his first mock on the OBR. I puked when I got to their first pick...

I would trade Joe Thomas every day of the week and twice on sunday for Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers in their rookie yr.zach24oz;1030120 wrote:You cant trade one of your best players and draft picks to get just a QB. -

lol I had a feeling it was going to be Coples. Coples is another guy I see dropping out of the first round, or to the lower end of the first round if the Browns don't draft him with 1a.BR1986FB;1030126 wrote:Apparently this dude works for the Bleacher Report and posted his first mock on the OBR. 2 MAC players, a joke (LeMichael James wont be there in the 3rd round book it) and a reach with our #4 overall pick huh? Yeah I'll pass. Also lol at a 7 round mock draft, talk about an act in futility.BR1986FB;1030126 wrote:Apparently this dude works for the Bleacher Report and posted his first mock on the OBR. Frankly, I'd rather them use the pick on something else and grab Cliff Avril in FA. I have a sneaky feeling that Mario Williams may hit FA too with all of the talent that Houston has on their D-Line and at OLB. Pipe dream but imagine Mario Williams bookended with Sheard? -
Commander of AwesomeNot sure why Houston would let him go, this is something that couldnt even happen in Madden. Might as well hope NO lets Brees walk as well.

Connor Barwin, Brian Cushing, Brooks Reed? They have a glut at OLB, have done VERY well WITHOUT him and it's not a need. He's a free agent and they could use that money for other needs. -
DeyDurkie5I just don't see hte browns getting anyone like mario williams...we just don't get those types of players

With the 1st 3 picks I wouldnt mind it if this happens (RGIII, Andre Branch DE Clemson, Kendall Wright)...dont really know much about the DE from Clemson though. But I do agree that they need to get another DE to go with Sheard. Also, what about Toledo WR Eric Page as a later rd pick? I really liked watching him play this season, and he even torched OSU. He's only 5-10 180, but can run and has good hands. -

Back in the day, Reggie White was INCHES from signing a long-term deal with the Cleveland Browns when a man swooped in at the last second and made his "signature" free agent signing, stealing him from the Browns. That man's name?DeyDurkie5;1030150 wrote:I just don't see hte browns getting anyone like mario williams...we just don't get those types of players
Mike Holmgren
Eventually, Holmgren is going to want Heckert to make one of these signings, I think. -
Pick6
Could be the Browns Desean Jackson.zach24oz;1030152 wrote:http://www.rantsports.com/mock-draft/2011/12/28/2012-nfl-mock-draft-4-rounds/

He won't be entering the draft unless he gets some terrible advice.zach24oz;1030152 wrote:Also, what about Toledo WR Eric Page as a later rd pick? I really liked watching him play this season, and he even torched OSU. He's only 5-10 180, but can run and has good hands. -

That's fine and all..but this present day browns teams are just awful..FA's aren't looking to come here, and especially not someone like mario williamsBR1986FB;1030158 wrote:Back in the day, Reggie White was INCHES from signing a long-term deal with the Cleveland Browns when a man swooped in at the last second and made his "signature" free agent signing, stealing him from the Browns. BR1986FBAaaaaaaaarghh.....WHY do people think that drafting a QB with the first 1st rounder (let's say RG3) and upgrading the playmakers is "mutually exclusive"...like it can't be done in the same year? By using the first 3 picks on offense (QB, WR, RT), re-signing Hillis and signing a free agent WR (Garcon, D-Jax?) this offense looks light years different.
QB- RG3, Wallace
RB- Hillis, B-Jax, Hardesty (or later draft pick)
WR- Garcon, Wright (second 1st rounder), Little, MoMass, Norwood
TE- Moore, Cameron, Watson
LT- Thomas
LG- Steinbach (if healthy)
C- Mack
RG- Pinkston or Free Agent
RT- 2nd rounder (Levi Adcock-Oklahoma St or Mike Adams-OSU?)
That's ONLY using ONE free agent. They could sign another FA guard (Nicks) to play next to the rook at RT. It's NOT that difficult and it could be done in ONE offseason. -
