Cleveland Browns 2011 Super Awesome In-Season Thread

I would be 100% fine with thatBy using the first 3 picks on offense (QB, WR, RT), -
Commander of AwesomeIf it was just about money then St Louis would sign him.

DeyDurkie5I'm definitely interested to see what this offseason brings. Are we going to spend a bunch in free agency? Who do we target in FA compared to the draft? Do we go with a qb in the draft or do we stick with what we have and build around that?

RGIII is starting to grow on me, I know I've said I didn't think he would be a good qb in the NFL....but I have been thinking a lot lately and he could be a great addition and an exciting playmaker to watch on offense.BR1986FB;1030215 wrote:Aaaaaaaaarghh.....WHY do people think that drafting a QB with the first 1st rounder (let's say RG3) and upgrading the playmakers is "mutually exclusive"...like it can't be done in the same year? By using the first 3 picks on offense (QB, WR, RT), re-signing Hillis and signing a free agent WR (Garcon, D-Jax?) this offense looks light years different.
QB- RG3, Wallace
RB- Hillis, B-Jax, Hardesty (or later draft pick)
WR- Garcon, Wright (second 1st rounder), Little, MoMass, Norwood
TE- Moore, Cameron, Watson
LT- Thomas
LG- Steinbach (if healthy)
C- Mack
RG- Pinkston or Free Agent
RT- 2nd rounder (Levi Adcock-Oklahoma St or Mike Adams-OSU?)
That's ONLY using ONE free agent. They could sign another FA guard (Nicks) to play next to the rook at RT. It's NOT that difficult and it could be done in ONE offseason.
If the Texans let him go, The Browns better be ALL OVER this and throw him a record contract to get him in a Browns uniform. You have to spend money to win games.BR1986FB;1030138 wrote:I'd be much higher on Mercilus at 1b.
Frankly, I'd rather them use the pick on something else and grab Cliff Avril in FA. I have a sneaky feeling that Mario Williams may hit FA too with all of the talent that Houston has on their D-Line and at OLB. Pipe dream but imagine Mario Williams bookended with Sheard? -
MulvaWalterFootball's newest mock has the Browns getting RGIII and Alshon Jeffery (sliding to #22) with the 2 first rounders, with Mike Adams in the 2nd.

I wouldn't mind that at all.Mulva;1030279 wrote:WalterFootball's newest mock has the Browns getting RGIII and Alshon Jeffery (sliding to #22) with the 2 first rounders, with Mike Adams in the 2nd. -

Projected 4.55 forty on Jeffery. That's similar to what they already have in Little & MoMass. Better get that burner somewhere. Like the RG3/Adams picks though. -
ohiobucks1Why not Deydurkie? (honest question)
edit: BR may have just answered it... -
DeyDurkie5
average speed, disappears in games, and we need receivers that are fast as shit. essentially BR answered that for me.ohiobucks1;1030300 wrote:Why not Deydurkie? (honest question)

OQBGet Hilton in the later rounds.....kid out of FIU has the speed and playmaking ability we need.

Yeah, look at the rest of the division. Every team has one guy (Bengals-Caldwell, Steelers-Wallace/Brown, Rats-Torrey Smith) with blazing speed who can stretch the field. Every one of those guys is a 4.4 with some being in the 4.3's. The Browns don't have anything close to that speed currently seeing the field at WR.DeyDurkie5;1030303 wrote:average speed, disappears in games, and we need receivers that are fast as shit. essentially BR answered that for me. -

Hilton: FIU
Broyles: Oklahoma
All 4.4 guys that could stretch the field and mid round picks. -

I like Broyles. He could be a value pick and fall due to that ACL. Heckert has to do his job and find thse types. Pittsburgh found Wallace/Brown in later rounds.OQB;1030310 wrote:Wright: Baylor

royal_kI would be more than happy to draft QB/WR/OT with the first 3 picks. But, I don't want to trade multiple future picks to do it.

shook_17im good friends with eric page. he isn't coming out. hes very happy with the matt campbell hire.

shook_17and mario williams isn't coming to cleveland. its a pipe dream.

dazedconfusedany way we can get ahead of minnesota if they beat the bears and the browns lose to pitt? a redskins trade-up with the vikings for rg3 worries me

Yes, if Minnesota wins the Browns leapfrog them with a loss. The next game to think about is Indy/Jax. If Indy wins & Minny wins it's 1) Rams 2)Indy 3)Jax 4) Browns where if Jax wins & Minny wins it's 1)Indy 2) Rams 3) Browns.
In the first scenario, JAX worries me. Are they set on Gabbert? In the second, I could see the Redskins selling their farm to get to #2 for RG3. -
zach24ozDon't you think the Browns have a better chance at signing a WR to be an immediate impact on the offense instead of signing a LB/DB to come in and make a difference? I think a draft like RGIII, the best LB available and OL for their next 2 picks, in whatever order they want to go would work. We need some impact players on D too...with DQ in the middle, he needs some help around him bc Fajita is average, Gocong has his good game and ehh games, so I think a young LB who can make an impact would be a good pick.

Frankly, I'd like a free agent WR (for veteran guidance) AND a 1st round WR (second pick). Let's say, for example, they get Desean Jackson and stop there. That leaves D-Jax & Little with a couple of bit players (Norwood, MoMass and Cribbs, who absolutely sucks as a WR). Either get one in FA along with draft or grab two FA's but they have to have three legit options at the position, imo. I like Norwood as their 4th guy over MoMass. I don't want Cribbs on the field for anything but specials.zach24oz;1030360 wrote:Don't you think the Browns have a better chance at signing a WR to be an immediate impact on the offense instead of signing a LB/DB to come in and make a difference? -
DeyDurkie5Definitely a lot of scenarios to play out for this pick

When you say a verteran WR, what kind of quality WR are we speaking here. A true #1 WR, or a Joe J type?BR1986FB;1030361 wrote:Frankly, I'd like a free agent WR (for veteran guidance) AND a 1st round WR (second pick).
