I'm at work, as well, but we've got beer in the fridge here. Boom! -

Its not bitching about bitching about bitching, its stating facts about fans bitching about bitches. -

It would be stating facts about fans stating facts about bitches. -
justincredibleI'm not bitching about anything, I am just defending Brandon's right to make whatever comment he wants and providing examples of what lead Brandon to make said comment.

karen lotzright.

justincredibleOkay.

Sounds like a plan! I'm sick of being at work, so leaving and getting drunk ought to make me a lot happier! -
justincredibleIt's pointless debating any further. Reds fans are going to defend Brandon. Other people are going to give us crap for it. That's not going to change. And I don't like it. It hurts my feelings.

I offer you this olive branch wreath as a sign of truce regarding the Bitch/Fact argument.

Here's my gesture of friendship on the topic of who is/isn't a bitch:

I never minded the Reds and liked to see them do well, but this huge *****fest about the Cardinals is getting a little ridiculous. Beat them on the field, then worry about beating them in the media. You guys are defending Brandon Phillips to the death for "speaking his mind" as he plays terribly in one of the biggest series he has ever played in and may have psyched himself out with his comments. Come on. Focus on the game. Sure, the Cards, may complain about things. While it doesn't make them right, it also isn't right to go to the media and call them *****es. Beat them on the field.
It's okay to say cuss words. you don't have to be a bitch about it. -

LOL you would think I'm the first and only person to have ever censored cuss words on the internet. I guess I would be deflecting as much attention away from myself and BP's comments if I was a Reds fan too after getting clownstomped by the Cardinals in one of the biggest series in Reds history. Once again, however accurate Philips comments were, its not the kind of thing you say right before a crucial series, especially when you (the speaker) promptly fall on your face during the series. -
RotinajOne of the biggest series in reds history?? Lol.

jordo212000Phillips should have probably let sleeping dogs lie on this one. Everybody knows what he said was true and many sportscasters crack jokes at the expense of LaRussa all the time. I loved the comments though.
I also feel like the Cardinals really overreacted. Heck Votto said he hated the Cubs a few weeks ago and you didn't see Koyie Hill getting in Votto's face and causing a bench clearing brawl. -

Well Reds recent history. Sorry, I should have clarified. -

Yeah, I don't have too much of a problem with Philips saying he hates the Cards. But he should have left it at that. Throwing in the "bitches" remark made things worse and prompted a response that imo is understandable. -
jordo212000I gotta laugh at the guy early on who was bound and determined to argue that Cueto was not kicking Carpenter. You could possibly argue as to what his intent was (was he trying to hurt Carpenter or was he trying to avoid getting crushed). But yeah if you watch the video very closely at all you see him kicking at Carpenter. Reminded me of Rick James on Charlie Murphy's couch. It'll probably cost Cueto 5 games.
With all that being said, I hate Carpenter. Dude is a douche. Him yelling at Brendan Ryan because Ryan's alignment cost him a run in a blowout was just ridiculous. I can't blame Cueto for trying to get a cheap one on Carpenter. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Brendan Ryan "accidentally" punch Carpenter during the melee -
justincredibleAs far as I can tell after watching the video about 20 times, pausing it, watching it again, etc, Cueto starts kicking (as "survival" instincts kick in) when Jason LaRue comes at him like a madman. Cueto starts flailing his legs to keep LaRue away. In the process he connects with Carpenter a few times.
It is VERY clear from the video that Carpenter is the reason the thing escalated after Baker and LaRussa had words and things were dying down. Carpenter chimes in as Baker is being backed away by the umps. Baker immediately says "Fuck you!" a few times and the umpire is very clearly upset with Carpenter and tells him to go away. The look on Rolen's face immediately goes from calm to I'm going to eat your children after what Carpenter says.
I think Cueto and Carpenter are the only two players that should be suspended, the rest should be fined. -
justincredibleI am not sure what Carpenter said, but it had to be pretty damn bad for Baker and Rolen to snap like that and for the umpire to direct all of his attention to him.

Yeah you could tell Carpenter really fanned the flames. I always get mad that Dusty isn't more animated (not arguing calls), but this really opened my eyes. Baker never flips a lid like that. I'd be interested to hear what Carpenter said.
Like I said, I wasn't sure what Cueto was trying to do. IMO he was trying to protect himself, but at the same time the video shows him looking right where he is kicking, and he is kicking Carpenter. My original post was aimed at this poster:I love how the little bitch Carpenter is whining about getting kicked in the back. I never saw one Red behind him the entire time. He probably scraped it on the wall and since he is such a giant pussy, it felt like spikes to him. -
justincredibleSince I hate Carpenter I'm going to speculate it was racial. Pure speculation, but you can't convince me it wasn't.
-
justincredibleIt had to be bad, whatever he said, to set Rolen and Dusty off like that because both of them are pretty even-keeled guys. I actually find myself liking Dusty a lot more after this incident. I've never seen him show that much emotion. Even when arguing with umpires he tries to be as respectful as possible, i.e. always looking down as to not accidentally spit in their face while yelling.
