Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors

And he didn't play over Varejao and Shaq because Varejao was an all-NBA defender, and Shaq was a big name signee that Brown felt obligated to play. When he was out of the lineup, Hickson played very well for Cleveland...many people forget that.
I'm not really sure why you are so convinced he's All Star caliber. You know how All Star voting works? The fans vote in the starters, and he will never be a leading vote getter because he just won't ever be that popular. And then you have the coaches vote in the rest and I just don't ever see him as a top 5-6 player at this position in the NBA.

IF the Cavs can get Bosh through S&T, it's likely that Bosh and LeBron would both sign the max deals to get as much money as they can and to be able to go forward in building a dynasty.

a 6 year deal leaves Bosh at 32 and LBJ at 31. After that run together, they'd still be able to choose to stay or choose to pursue other options then.

I think 6 years is unlikely, but not foolish.
That's such a big IF, I'm just going to leave it alone.

Which is probably why I put it in caps, to symbolize that it was a big if?

haha, just read that "World Wide Wes" will NOT be attending the meetings between James and other teams on July 1st.

Sounds like Maverick Carter may be getting a little fed up of Wes and the BS he's been spewing.

    From the NY Times:

When LeBron James starts listening to pitches on Thursday from the teams trying to lure him away from the Cleveland Cavaliers, one person who is not expected to be present is William Wesley, a prominent, behind-the-scenes adviser to various athletes and a longtime acquaintance of James.

Wesley, who straddles the worlds of college basketball and the N.B.A., is widely known by his nickname “Worldwide Wes.” In recent months, there has been speculation that he would play a significant role as James decides where he will be playing basketball next season.

There were reports that Wesley was trying to broker a deal in which the Bulls would sign James and hire Coach John Calipari away from the University of Kentucky. Other reports had Wesley trying to pair James with New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul. The accuracy of these reports was never clarified.

But Maverick Carter, James’s longtime business manager, said Tuesday that Wesley would not play a role in James’s deliberations and would not be present as various teams visit his client in Ohio.

“All the Wes rumors are untrue and he will not be at the meetings,” Carter said. “Wes has nothing to do with where he goes.”

James, Carter and James’s agent, Leon Rose, are scheduled to be at the meetings, which are expected to begin shortly after the free-agency period officially starts at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. James is expected to meet with the Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and the Nets and Knicks.

The Cavaliers will continue talking to James in an effort to keep him in Cleveland, where he has played all of his previous seven N.B.A. seasons.

Okay, so someone disagrees with you, and they are a douchebag. If you would make good points maybe you wouldn't feel like a dumbass. He's shown nothing to make one think he's All Star caliber. Jamison is not a 20-10 guy. Toronto wouldn't bring in Jamison, in an attempt to save money.

You've been dead wrong on here, so don't get pissed at me.

thedynasty keeps on talking out of every hole.

What coach will select the Cavs by next week, hell it looks like we have our coach NOW.

Now you suddenly know that Bron won't sign a 6 yr deal leaving $30 million on the table?

TORONOT ISN'T LOOKING TO SAVE MONEY. They want some talent in return plus expiring contracts/picks for Bosh. They will take on some contractual money if Cleveland offers it.

Save it. You were doing the name calling a couple days ago. Its not that you disagree with him, you disagree with EVERYBODY on this thread. Its a Cavs offseason thread, I thought I would be reading about Cavs rumors and chatting amongst Cavs fans, not some negative prick that shoots down every fucking idea/rumor. I have yet to see a person post a trade rumor without you shooting it down. On top of that you make comments like "I hope Lebron leaves, he deserves better". Go start another thread for all your bullshit. You have become the Capone of the Cavs thread.

You're not a douchebag cuz you're disagreeing with me, you're a douchebag because you don't let things go. You don't understand that sometimes your opinion will differ from other people's opinions--and to just LET IT GO! Hickson has done plenty to prove he could be an all-star caliber type player. There are players who are taken in the top 5 of the draft who have proven NOTHING, yet are chosen based on POTENTIAL. That is all I'm saying; Hickson has plenty of potential and when given the chance, has shown up. GM's were calling about Hickson during the season last year, so obviously he is at least being sought out.

And okay, Jamison is a career 20 and 8 guy...so fuckin shoot me for being off by 2 rebounds.

I will be surprised if Shaw takes the job in the next couple days, however I think the Lakers have made it known that he's not next in line for the Lakers job, so there really isn't any reason for him to wait around.

And if you were following along, you would know that I never said anything about Toronto saving money. S&L said that, and then said that they would want Jamison in a S&T. All I said was that you can't have it both ways. I doubt that Toronto would want Jamison, but I can see it as well as he could be somewhat productive there.

Don't act like I'm been way off on everything just because I disagree with people.

the only way I could see the Raptors taking Antawn is something like this:

    Raptors out:
    Chris Bosh S&T ($17 million)
Hedo Turkoglu (4 years @ $11million per year) averaged 11/5/4

    Raptors in:
    Antawn Jamison (2 years @ $13 million per year) averaged 18 & 8
JJ Hickson (rookie contract) averaged 8 & 5 playing 20 mpg with no plays run for him
Delonte West ($4.5 million for 1 year, can be bought out for $500k)
    Anthony Parker (1 year @ $3 million)
    Sebastian Telfair (1 year @ 2.7 million)
    1st round draft pick

The Cavs get Bosh, and maybe a recharged Turkoglu since he wants out of Toronto. Can come off the bench and help run the half court offense when LBJ is out. Can also be a spot up shooter with LBJ on the floor.

Raptors get out from Hedo’s albatross of a contract by 2 years by bringing in a guy in Antawn Jamison that is still productive. Could help pick up some of the scoring lost from Bosh & Turkoglu. In any sign and trade they are going to have to take back a big contract. Gives them an expiring contract for the 2011-2012 season. JJ Hickson would be a lottery pick if he had stayed in school and came out in this year’s draft. Showed glimpses of being a legitimate player. Will he ever put up numbers that Bosh did? Not likely, but he is young with room to develop and has already produced when given the chance to play extended minutes. Is ready to start for a team immediately. West can be bought out to give some cap relief immediately. Parker and Telfair come off the books next year. They are fillers in the trade more or less. They could get lucky and hit on Telfair. They could substitute Moon for Parker if the Raptors prefer.

I'm sorry if I bring a realistic viewpoint to the thread. I didn't know that everyone who posted on here had to buy into the Chris Paul trade talks. And the Chris Bosh S/T deal. And that the Jamison trade was a great move. And the value that Hickson and Delonte have.

I just don't see things the same way as everyone else. I never liked Ferry when everyone was high on him for assembling the "best team in the NBA". I didn't like the Mike Brown firing (but did understand it) for them to bring in Brian Shaw. I thought the Jamison trade was horrible. I don't really know what is attractive to Lebron regarding Cleveland other than his familiarity. I didn't think the Cavs would be able to "buy" into the first round. Yet, I'm the bad guy.

People act like I've been an asshole in making all these bad predictions, yet most things I've said have been right, or I've at least been able to back up my opinions with stats.

FWIW....most of the callers on KNR are thinking that if Shaw is offered, this is a sign that they are preparing for the Post-Lebron years. Some guy from AOL fanhouse says that Shaw is the man, and they are now discussing years and money.

On a side note, I really am starting to think that Windy is about as much of an insider as the rest of us douches on here.

My guess is his source was someone close to the Brown/Ferry regime so once they left that is why he has dropped off. Happened to Tony Grossi with the Browns but hopefully Windy doesn't make up a bunch of dumb rumors about the new coach like Grossi did.
