I don't believe for a second Wilson asked him politely to go to the sidewalk like he claims. I'm sure he had choice words for him which instigated the situation. And I'm sure MB had choice words for him the further escalated the situation. I'm also sure he wouldn't have made it a point to even say anything to him if they were 2 white kids. Don't lie to yourself and say it wasn't race related at all. That's the whole reason it still exists today bc we allow ourselves to lie and say oh I'm sure it wasn't about race.
You write like a black dude. How hard is it to type out because?

Hopefully you didn't hurt your brain coming up with that gem. Thanks for not disappointing.

Then maybe we should arrest more whites that are committing crimes. I would support such an effort.

Oh I dunno, reading the newspaper, watching the news, living in cities, etc. And I'm more concerned with actual crime. If someone wants to smoke crack at their house, go for it. But if you then go rob a store, that's my issue. As to your claim, it's probably because it's a reason to arrest the gangbanger or low life, so drug charges are what sticks. How many college kids who smoke weed get arrested? None? So these people getting arrested are either doing it in public or committing some other act to draw attention to themselves in the process. Obviously I don't know, nor do I really care about your "systematic racism". Don't do drugs and you won't go to jail for it. Or do it in the safety of your own home.

I know you're an engineer so I'm sure you understand the percentages. I'm not sure I believe you actually think they don't commit more crimes.

Doing illegal drugs in your home and not out in public doesn't make it any less illegal.

No kidding. But you aren't going to get caught doing them in your house is my point. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to not get caught with drugs.

    No kidding.

My point is different with yours. You're OK with doing it in a way that you don't get caught. I would rather have people try and respect the law.

I get it. I don't do them either. But to Zwick's point, just because people do drugs don't mean they are stupid enough to be caught. Also, laws are made my political hacks, so I find it hard for there to be a blanket statement of "respect the law".

I don't view agreeing with the law and respecting the law as the same thing.

This was my thought. Maybe less white people get arrested for drug charges because when they are walking down the middle of the street while holding and a cop tells them to get out of the street, they just move instead of instigating more to cause the cop to get out of the car and investigate further.

Who cares how they talked to each other. MB's blood was found inside the cruiser which leads me to believe that he was punching the officer. That's asking to get shot. Regardless of the color of your skin.

Or maybe he was shot while Wilson was grabbing him at the cruiser

There's no factual evidence. Even Johnsons testimony isn't refuted by the autopsy. heres some evidence for you...

There's no factual evidence that the deceased didn't attack the officer inside the car either. To implicate either in that "altercation" without such evidence would be disingenuous.

Absolutely. If you refer back to my post in #1063, you'll see I have no idea who's guilty or innocent here. I think we should have had a trial instead of getting tossed out in a Kangaroo court. But we never will.

I'm glad you're not willing to implicate someone in this case.

We disagree on the necessity of a trial. The purpose of a grand jury is so that the governemnt can't go around charging people with felonies. A grand jury can determine if there is enough evidence to do so with a much less requirement of lawlessness to be evident.

ccrunner609;1679768 wrote:same evidence in a trial would lead to not guilty. Likely the testimony of people would change since half of them changed statements to grand jury. You cant do that.

As for guilt.....evidence proves that MB hit the police officer, robbed a convienence store, was high on drugs and tried to get the cops gun. That's the end of it. Regardless of what the cop said MB was at fault.
I wouldn't be so sure. You had a prosecutor who wasn't interested in an indictment in the least. A Special prosecutor would have been assigned to the trial and all witnesses would have been allowed plus you'd have a prosecutor that actually challenged Wilson. Couple that with making witnesses become public, you have a very different trial than the show that was put on at grand jury.
