Donald Sterling banned for life by NBA

They would have the option of suing him. I would imagine the agreement was written by some pretty solid lawyers.SportsAndLady;1610717 wrote:If they force you while simultaneously fining you, would you pay it?
Anyone know the legal ramifications of sterling just not paying the fine?
OTOH, if forgiving the fine would be the token win that gets him to quit fighting and sell the team, it's a no-brainer. -

Leagues usually spell out specifically the process for fines. He can appeal, and likely he's waived a right to litigation and agreed to arbitration/mediation.SportsAndLady;1610717 wrote: Anyone know the legal ramifications of sterling just not paying the fine?
But when you talk about forcing a sale of the franchise I think it becomes far more complicated. He would have certain property rights that he cannot waive even if he agrees to as part of league rules (i.e. non-binding). I don't know if special anti-trust laws would also factor in. -

I hope as part of this battle he mentions this because the NAACP is a fraud of an organization and does far more harm than good in race relations.thavoice;1610727 wrote:I hope that when this subsides that the NAACP gets some flack. QuakerOatsSprewell, black player, assaulted and choked his white coach, and got a minor suspension.
Old white owner makes racist remark and is banned for life and forced to give up property.

Other than the "apples to something that is definitely not an apple" comparison and misrepresentation of Sprewell's punishment (Warriors voided his contract, NBA suspended him for a year; he took it to arbitration court, which negated the contract voiding and lowered the suspension to 68 games, which was the rest of that season, which is still a lot more than a "minor" suspension), you're reasonably accurate.
Which might be your all-time best on this site, but still shows a general lack of understanding of anything going on. You should try harder.

vball10setSterling deserves everything he's getting, but should Kobe be banned for this? Just curious...

The problem with the ruling today is it now sets a precedence that the nba does not tolerate racism or hate.vball10set;1610777 wrote:Sterling deserves everything he's getting, but should Kobe be banned for this? Just curious...

So now every time someone drops the N bomb or says "no homo" sterling will be expecting the nba to ban that person for life.
It's a slippery slope but it's already been done. -
QuakerOatsSprewell was suspended for 68 games; subsequently he was offered a $21 million contract to play in the ........... you guessed it .......... NBA.
So, you can be black and commit felonious assault against a white man, and get in line for continued employment at $21 million over 3 years; or you can be an old white geezer who makes a personal comment with racial overtones and be banned for life, fined $2.5 million and forced to give up hundreds of millions in property.
Change we can believe in ...

GblockPlease explain the correlation to the spreewell incident and how it was race related.

Yup but we all know as soon as a black person says this they will be defended and those calling for their removal will be called racists.SportsAndLady;1610779 wrote:The problem with the ruling today is it now sets a precedence that the nba does not tolerate racism or hate.
