Spike Lee possibly?SportsAndLady;1610690 wrote:Who you talking about? -
gutI'm wondering what legal standing the NBA would have to take action on an illegal recording (CA, where I assume the recording was made, has a two-party consent law to recording private conversations).

wildcats20@ZachLowe_NBA: League sources say Silver/league, not Sterling, would control Clips sales process in event Silver gets the required 3/4 vote to force it.

Blacks can't be racists. We know this by now.queencitybuckeye;1610693 wrote:Spike Lee. -

Again, I really don't think Sterling is just going to roll over and take it in the ass from the league. I expect him to fight it.wildcats20;1610694 wrote:@ZachLowe_NBA: League sources say Silver/league, not Sterling, would control Clips sales process in event Silver gets the required 3/4 vote to force it. -

Whoa....how can they do that...I understand kicking him out, but then they get to decide who and how much its sold for...dafuqwildcats20;1610694 wrote:@ZachLowe_NBA: League sources say Silver/league, not Sterling, would control Clips sales process in event Silver gets the required 3/4 vote to force it. -

The $2.5 million will come out of the girlfriend's paycheck. She should have known better than to hang out with a slime-ball plaintiff's trial attorney. -
sleeperI still want to hear from Sterling. Hopefully he goes full retard and fights this with every last dollar he has.
-
sleeperWhat I hate most is the $2.5 million is going to go to anti-discrimination groups which are in reality groups run by minorities who race bait for more funding. The best way to get rid of discrimination in this country is to get rid of anti-discrimination laws and AA. That would make everyone equal regardless of race.

California does have a 2 party consent law on phone recordings. But a 3rd party can use them as long as it is not a criminal prosecution.gut;1610692 wrote:I'm wondering what legal standing the NBA would have to take action on an illegal recording (CA, where I assume the recording was made, has a two-party consent law to recording private conversations). -

I believe it was Jim Gray(lol!!) who got a response from him this afternoon...sleeper;1610702 wrote:I still want to hear from Sterling. Hopefully he goes full retard and fights this with every last dollar he has.
"The team is not for sale" I think is what it was. -

steubbigredGlad to see this action taken. It's amazing that this man got away with so many outrageous acts of discrimination to this point without the NBA doing something about it and especially the LA branch of the NAACP. Never the less the appropriate action was taken and hopefully the sale of the team will come this off season and even more hopeful is that no member of that family will continue to own the Clippers.

GblockThe nba is a brand. When you hurt the brand u can be forced out. If u own ur own pizza shop u can say whatever u want. If you own a papa johns and u put a swastika in the window u can be forced out. U run a business within a bigger business. This is all about the $$$

I share your sentiment. This is accurate and I have been battling this all my life.SportsAndLady;1610708 wrote: -

Sure. And I think on that basis the [private] league has a right to sanction him as some sort of moral clause. However, I think it's potentially a gray area when you start talking about the league forcing and/or managing the sale of the team. The latter would be a sort of loophole to enable blackmail.Devils Advocate;1610705 wrote:California does have a 2 party consent law on phone recordings. Anyone know the legal ramifications of sterling just not paying the fine? -

Doubt that he cares what it would be. PRobably would be cheaper to pay it then try to fight it.
Could it be a simple as the league witholding that much money from any of the league sharged $$$? -
