And he is very condemning the person not the act.

He seemed to say they were happy "despite their circumstances," implying that their circumstances were, indeed, not the motivations for them being happy
He grew up in the Jim Crow South. He saw the segregated facilities, the segregated schools,
he knew what would happen to any black person who stepped out of line,
He is from Caddo Parish
Nevertheless, this history is alive and
well in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, the site of the last capital of the Confederacy
and of widespread, brutal hate crimes during the turn of the century.
The supposedly bygone era of slavery and the Confederacy
continues to influence the administration of justice in Louisiana, where
the Confederate flag flies over the parish courthouse at which lynching
once occurred and where death sentences continue to be meted out along
racial lines… Site of the Colfax Massacre
—in which at least 150 newly-freed blacks were slaughtered by whites….Caddo includes both the
rural areas of North Louisiana, notorious for the Ku Klux Klan’s omnipresence.
In 2011Citizens must pass under the Confederate flag in order to enter the
Caddo Parish Courthouse in downtown Shreveport.

His home area has a long history of extreme violence against blacks up to the present. I think we can IMPLY from his statements an attempt to cover up the intimidation of the black community. They lived under a regime of terror..\

Of course there is a logical framework for that statement. Mr. Robertson in his sermon attacks gays as being for one thing full of murder. I would think bestiality would be a lesser gateway sin to being “full of murder.”O-Trap;1557092 wrote:There is no logical framework to support this, or at least none which you have articulated.
Most of this thread, you've just shown two quotes from broader messages and assumed the conclusion without drawing it.
I provided a framework for my assertions. You've not. Try again.
I'd submit that we, as a human collective, fit this mold: We receive in ourselves the due penalty for our wickedness. We're full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. We are insolent, arrogant, and often God-haters. We are heartless, senseless, and ruthless. We invent ways of doing evil.
Claiming wrongdoing, even calling it evil, is not hate. I do evil. Paul admits to doing evil. So does David ... in fact, he admits to BEING evil in his heart.
Granted, I understand that you, being full of nothing but love and compassion, may not be evil like the rest of us in the world, but I would at least hope you can see the distinction between pointing out what one thinks are imperfections in another and the former hating the latter.
You can infer what you wish, but it is speculation at most. I infer only that which he explicitly states, because I prefer to assume as much innocence in my fellow man as possible, while recognizing that it is never fully present. As such, I will not assume malevolence, though you seem to be able to do so.
You've spelled out the circumstances, but answer me this one question: Is it impossible for someone who has been forced to live under such circumstances to be happy?
In essence, can a person be happy IN SPITE of their circumstances? If so, then what you've just stated changes nothing as to whether or not he was simply being truthful about those with whom he worked. Plainly stated truth carries no bias and furthers no agenda. Our interpretations of fact and truth are what do that.
[/SIZE]
Actually, it's "INFER" there. And we have insufficient evidence to cover anything up, so long as we're approaching the topic logically. You've continued to list facts, but you have yet to offer one single iota of evidence that a person could not, by any stretch, find happiness under such trying circumstances.
I urge you to do so if you are able.
You perhaps can know the thoughts that others have not articulated. Reading minds like that is a gift, and you should spread it.
But forgive the rest of us if we cannot do the same, and must rely on logic and empirically sensed communication in order to know the sentiments of others. And forgive us if we do not simply take your word for it.
Mr. Robertson is not identifying these as being the sins of mankind but specific group. Lesbians and Gays

In answer to his claim that there was no local racial violence and that the blacks were contented, happy and not singing the blues. 577# Examples of his hating homosexual.
Several examples of racism and happening in Caddo parish at the time Phil Robertson was living there. We have one example of Sam Cooke, famous black pioneer of rock and roll, being denied a room at the whites only holiday inn, leading for him to write a song singing the blues. All examples have citations
