MIT Shooting/Bombing Suspect Manhunt - Suspect 1: DEAD, Suspect 2: In Custody

60 Minutes reporting that the gun shot wound to Dzhokhar's neck occurred during the shootout on Friday night while inside the boat, and that the wound may have been self-inflicted in a suicide attempt. The FBI refusing to comment either way.

The more we hear from the people who were closest to the younger brother, the more his evil actions appear to have happened suddenly and completely unexpectedly. Is this a monster or a young man who was radically influenced by his older brother to do something that he never really wanted to do? Not giving the kid a pass at all, but it's very hard to believe that somebody can turn evil just like that. The older brother, on the other hand, definitely appears to have been inherently wicked.

    Very interesting.

From Mail Online in the UK:

The alleged Boston Marathon bomber is awake and responding to questions in his hospital bed.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is responding sporadically in writing to questions from investigators regarding other cell members and other unexploded bombs, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The 19-year-old shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on the boat where he was hiding on Friday night. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply tore through his neck.

Authorities initially said they couldn't question him because of the throat wound. CNN reports earlier today that Tsarnaev was 'intubated and sedated' at a Boston hospital.

IDGAF if the kid was "radically influenced." Kill him.

Huckabee on Fox News is going to go more in-depth about Dzhokhar's background and the people who he was close to. On right now. Might be some interesting stuff and give some more perspective as to what went wrong.

According to those in his life, as of last Monday morning, he was an All-American kid. Today, he is in custody, reported to be one of the mastermind's of the worst attack of terror on U.S. soil since September 11. This kid will make a tremendous case study if he pulls through.

One close friend called Dzhokhar a "nice guy, somebody who wouldn't harm a fly."

Well, you couldn't have been more wrong, buddy, and should probably refrain from a career in psychology. On the other hand, this seems to be a familiar observation from the people who knew the kid best. Fascinating stuff.

It's pretty chilling that he went to a party and the gym in the days after the attack. To do that, and then just kind of turn it off is kind of schizophrenic.

Yeah, kid is/was far from normal.

Or, if you look at things from a different angle, perhaps he didn't really think what he was doing was wrong. Tameran could have pushed his radical religious ideologies so strongly onto the younger brother that Dzhokhar believed he was doing something right and fighting "evil."

This also may NOT be the case. Either way, the kid deserves at the very minimum a life sentence.

If that were the case, wouldn't you expect him to comfortably and openly share/express those values? It all sounds very "secret life" to me.

Apologies for making no sense. Apparently you can be drunk without drinking. Please see my edits.

I think we just have to wait and see what the kid says once he's fully recovered and becomes more comfortable talking over time.

So the f*cker shot himself through the throat while trying to and believing that he'd kill himself; instead he fails? AWESOME

Yes, I would say that, whether he was pressured or indoctrinated in some fashion by his brother or not, in the end he ultimately got what he deserves: exactly what he didn't want; to be caught and have to face the consequences that meet the severity of his actions.

And ib4 whatever stupid comment might be made re my post about being drunk

Looks like you can add "attempted suicide" to his charges!

Here is a great map of the "Trail of Mayhem and Murder." Needless to say, it looked like a large area to cover all the way around.

Image is too big to post on here.

I'm not sure it's really as big of an area as you think. Watertown is some 5 miles from the outskirts of downtown Boston, you are talking at most about 25 square miles. Not that 25 miles is small, just I don't know...5x5 miles seems huge while not being huge (if that makes sense).

I still don't really know the exact details of some major happenings. Even now I'm still seeing different accounts - there's info in those posts that I have not seen elsewhere.

It's not going to change the fact he led a "secret life". Even after the bombing he was tweeting sympathies. This is not an outspoken true believer. Right or wrong, I'm leaning toward agreeing with people that are saying this is just some nutjob that found inspiration in seeking out extremist justifications for his meltdown.

I still think we don't know the whole story. Something just doesn't add up to me. Although, perhaps I just don't want to believe that seemingly perfectly normal people can turn evil.

We can definitely agree on one thing, however. He was a nutjob, regardless of why he did it.

We'll see as we learn more. It just seems that there's no associated religious or political statements. In that regard, the only difference with Newtown is they used bombs instead of guns.
