This is the last time I will give you the benefit of a reply, but I do. not. care.

Hopefully you are helped by that.

I've not heard anything about domestic groups being mentioned on the news.
    Is that on Fox?

So to go 11+ years is pretty remarkable. And this might be domestic or just one or two nutjobs - the difference between this and the school/mall/campus shootings is basically the weapon. Not sure how that would be any more comforting, but it would be good to know we don't have a gap as far as foreign terrorists.
I agree that there was a fear that we were going to be attacked again. But I don't think it is remarkable that we have gone this long without an attack. But I think it's sad that we would consider getting a terrorist attack once every 10 years or so remarkable... that indicates something is wrong.

As far as the difference between this and school/mall/campus shootings only being the weapon? I disagree completely. A school shooting is a localized fear, I don't feel any more insecure when a school shooting happens. A terror attack at a huge social event or targeting thousands of people seems to create a more general fear across the country for the foreseeable future. It has a more sinister feel to it that's unsettling.

Why not a left wing group? Can only republicans be terrorists?

Yea, just like the Saudi Arabian that was tackled because he was running away from the explosion (like everybody else). Or the supposed Saudi Arabian suspect who was detained in the hospital. He was prevented access so, how could he have planted the bomb, and if he did plant it why would he be going back to it? Its a possibility it is a foreigner, but I cannot stand this racist bullshit.

There is a difference between profiling and racism. Profiling goes both ways, and probably has prevented a good amount of crimes. Please go back to class and try to keep up. Thanks.

My completely off the wall theory regarding who is to blame:

Islam is the most popular religion in Ethiopia. Ethiopians make up a healthy part of top finishers in marathons. Because the bombs weren't let off during the top finishers, clearly the terrorists have Islamic ties!

(This post is completely sarcastic and not meant to be a serious thought).

I don't see the distinction, unless you don't live by or ever go to a school, mall, movie theater. Gun or bomb, I don't see a difference, they both kill. I also don't see a practical difference whether that terrorist is foreign or home-grown.

We've had domestic terrorism for quite some time, probably more frequently than every 10 years.

I haven't even been checking the news for the last few hours, I've been at the library. My hunch of domestic terrorism cell is that a purely American group would be harder to catch IMO if they're smart. No other basis for my hunch.

In all honesty, while left-wing groups can be violent I struggle to think of any mass murders. I said right wing, but most are probably simply anti-government. But obviously you had all the abortion clinic bombings in the 80's and 90's. The Atlanta Olympic bomber was anti-gay and I think anti-abortion.

This is going to make sporting events kinda suck for the next few months, maybe even year. It's gonna be like the early 2000s when you basically got a full x-ray to get into the stadium

    Probably..great assumption.

I never said profiling nor racism cant go both ways. Quit putting words in my mouth.

Oh yea, racial profiling is illegal, and is racist.

I don't really lay awake at nights because of either possibility, but I think if I did worry about stuff like this I'd be a lot more concerned about getting shot by a nutjob in an isolated incident than killed in some massive terrorist attack.

I do wonder why they didn't hit earlier. Maybe they were obstructed or got disorganized, but the winners would have been live national coverage. Would make sense to choose the area they did, near so many cameras (and police), and maybe a little denser crowd. But a few hours after the winners there's no guarantee the cameras would still be rolling.

I suppose if it prevented a bomb going off and saving mine and others lives, I'd be okay with it.

Last year the average finishing time was 4:18. The bomb detonated at 4:10 today. Tried to get the most people as possible I would imagine.

Yeah but it's just annoying that this is going to happen. I swear when I was at the Ryder Cup in Detroit it seemed as if I was meeting the president the way security was at the gate

Maybe, if they overestimated the power of their explosives. I guess alternatively the focus on the winners would only serve to increase their chance of being caught on film.

I see what Fly4Fun is saying. Maybe it's because I'm more likely to be at a marathon than a movie theater.

Someone with a gun most likely only kills who's being targeted. One shot one kill.
An IED explosion kills anything within a general area. One explosion multiple killed and hundreds injured.

Actually the lead investigators at their PC stated expressly they do not have a suspect, but a number of people they are talking to. To be fair, at this point they wouldn't necessarily disclose otherwise.

Personally I think they got a Saudi national very close to one of the explosions (obviously due to injuries) and no shit they want to talk to him. Guess we'll find out at some point if they have anything more than that to base their suspicion on.

Ehh, I kind of get that, but the Aurora theatre shooter killed 12 and wounded 58. But anyway, we've had a number of domestic terrorists that used bombs. It's not really something new or exclusive to Al Qaeda-type organizations.

    Come on...

You think everything stated at a press conference is 100% fact?

I've known for over an hour that a Saudi man was being "guarded" at a hospital...as a possible suspect.

I guess what I really mean, is just because CNN is just reporting it, doesn't mean it's not already been out on twitter and other social media sites.
