Explosion during Boston Marathon (non-political discussion)

That's where I was thinking. I don't have any thoughts on who might've done this hideous and unforgivable act....I just feel horrible for the families of those 3 and especially the 8 year old girl....and also those injured or simply frightened.

    Sucks

You think everything stated at a press conference is 100% fact?
Part of the purpose for a PC is to clear up misinformation. The Saudi national thing was reported hours ago. Point being, they had a PC and not only didn't confirm it, not only didn't just dodge it or offer "no comment" (as they do with many other sensitive details), they expressly said that was not the case.

Sure, maybe they did that intentionally to mislead. But to me that's a good bit longer shot than having faith in the media to have all their facts right.

My high school coach was there today as well, along with a few runners my age I'm facebook friends with from when we competed together. Also, one of my current professors finished 2:56:16. Glad to hear none of your friends were hurt.

It's really not funny, but I couldn't help chuckling at the immediate u-turn and run the other way. Not that I'd have done differently, just reminded me of:

No cell phones, no backpacks, all ladies' purses must be below a certain size and they are searched at entrance - and it isn't an open admission, you need a badge to enter. Would be very difficult to this at Augusta.

Where you thinking about flying on a plane on 9/11, too?

The Saudi national was a student there on visa. He was questioned and let go. People thought it was him bc he was running away from the explosion. Well no shit so was everyone else.

Not sure where you heard he was questioned and let go.

News I'm hearing he's connected to the apartment being searched.

"CBS News Senior Correspondent John Miller reported Tuesday morning the apartment search was related to the man who is reportedly under guard at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Miller reported the man is a Saudi national who is in the United States on a student visa. "

You do understand that Augusta does do this.

That was my point. I don't understand what you are getting at.

    - just to clarify, my post was in response to someone saying this could happen at Augusta, hence my response. It couldn't happen, unless it was an inside job.

Gotcha, my bad, I did not follow the thread.

Time (once again) for the Eagle to show its might.

Next weekend is the London Marathon. After what happened at Boston, would you now have second thoughts about attending the London Marathon?

Not to turn this into a political thing, but do you really think this incident will push this administration into retaliating in some manner?

We don't even know who did this...and we may never will

Right, I'm just asking...if some group/nation were to speak up and take responsibility for this. I have a pretty good feeling they'll figure out relatively quickly who was behind it.

Augusta National also only admits two colored persons per year -- Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh. So that pretty much precludes any terrorists from entering.

This guy, if innocent, is fucked. I feel bad for him. He'll have this hanging over his head forever.

Doubtful. It's more likely some small extremist group that did it, unlike 9/11. Not something you go to war over.

I find it funny that people above chuckled at the thought of ccrunner and his friends being blown up at the race, but yet, anything I say is viewed as deadly serious.
