Nasty IMO. I prefer coconut milk. But I don't drink it regularly.

Taste doesn't bug me especially when I only use milk for cereal/oatmeal. I was more speaking in turns of a health.

I prefer coconut milk but will drink almond milk if they are out of coconut milk. Like to use the coconut milk for cooking too. They also have a 50/50 mix of coconut milk & almond milk called "Akoni Palmer."

Which is better for you, or is just preference based which you like better?

Perhaps this will help a little and I prefer coconut milk...

Therefore, because I am more concerned with my n-3/n-6 ratio than I am about my fat intake, I generally choose coconut milk over almond milk.
From the article BR linked. This is the main reason I choose coconut milk. Also finding almond milk without a bunch of shit in it is difficult, because it tastes nasty otherwise. I read something about almond milk and "enzyme blockers" as well. Not sure if it's legit or what the hell it does but it was pointed out on another forum as a negative of almond milk. It appears some almond milk's aren't processed right...

Almondie is made from high grade, sustainably grown California almonds

Almonds are peeled without any heat or chemicals, removing acid and enzyme inhibitors for easy digestion. Almonds are then ground raw using our unique cold-press process without the addition of any sugar or additives to preserve the nutritional value of raw almonds.

Most Coconut Milk products have crappy additives. It literally should have Coconut, Water. Nothing else. No Guar Gum or other thickening products. No whiteners. Almond milk is the worst though. All of them are garbage. If someone really wants the derivatives of almonds, get a ton of raw almonds, grind them up and add quality water. Strain them and you have almond milk. You can also use the extra pulp, dehydrate it and have almond meal/flour.

[h=2]Paleo RD Tip of the Week[/h]By Amy Kubal, MS, RD

[h=4]Did you say beer (or 'adult beverage' of choice)?[/h]It’s summer, it’s hot and popping open a ‘cold one’ sounds like a darn good idea. Not a brewsky fan? How about an icy margarita, daiquiri or pina colada? Any and/or all of the above go down easy when it’s 90 degrees in the shade. Unfortunately, ‘drinking’ and paleo don’t quite go together like eggs and bacon. Don’t worry – I’m not going to be a complete ‘buzz-kill’, but I’m also not going to sanction three months of uninhibited imbibing either.

Truthfully, the best choice in terms of health and nutrition is probably to avoid the ETOH all together – but we all know too well that sometimes you just need to let go. I often get asked which drinks will do the ‘least amount of damage’. Here are a few tips to help keep your summer sipping sane and semi-healthy.
    • Don’t go near traditional beer! Although, Coors, Bud and PBR used to be frequents in your fridge – beer is commonly made from barley – that means gluten. It’s best to avoid it all together, although ‘gluten free’ varieties are becoming more common. One caveat here; some gluten free beers on the market may not be so safe. Do your homework and if you have celiac disease it may be best to get your buzz from something besides beer.
    • Drinks that come with umbrellas = rain is likely. You know these drinks, they’re concoctions of soda, ice cream, juices, crushed ice and liquors. They often have fancy names like ‘Cosmopolitan’, ‘Daiquiri’, ‘Pink squirrel’, ‘Margarita’, ‘Martini’ or ‘Sex on the Beach’. These bad boys go down EASY – like kool-aid. Loaded with sugar, they’re setting you up for an insulin overload.
    • What about wine? It’s just crushed up, fermented fruit, right? For the most part wine and champagne are okay, but they do contain some sugar and sulfites. A glass or two of wine (not bottles) on the weekend is not the worst thing you could do.
    • The best of the worst… When in doubt – go HARD and CLEAR! Tequilla, vodka, gin, etc. Mix these heavy hitters with club soda or seltzer water and add some lime or try the ‘World Famous’ – NorCal Margarita. Sip – don’t ‘shoot’ and getting ‘tanked’ is over rated, trust me.
The bottom line is - alcohol in and of itself is NOT paleo and probably shouldn’t become an ‘every evening event’; but once and a while, on special occasions it’s not going to do any long term damage, if you don’t have any major health issues. Stay away from gluten heavy brews and the stuff that tastes like kool-aid (‘Sex on the Beach’ may sound like a good idea at the time – but you’re gonna end up with sand in places you don’t want it…). Make smart choices, keep your intake ‘moderate’ (no keg stands or chugging), make darn sure you aren’t driving and enjoy.

I do beer sometimes. It is the big part of my 10% in my 90/10 philosophy. Hard to give up the booze.
  • Raw Dawgin' it
    I drink lots of beer

I can't believe I haven't thought of this for "sandwiches". I've tried lettuce wraps for grassfed burgers but it usually ends up a friggin' mess....

  • OneBuckeye
I think i have a hard time digesting pepper skins. Good idea, I will still go without a bun.

Man, I can eat peppers all day & night. Prefer red over green but I'll eat red, green, orange or yellow.

I am wondering if you would be better off filling the inside with the meat and eat open faced. Great idea, I usually cut up peppers and eat them like fries.

I was thinking of something like that with more messy options, like tuna. I also eat peppers the same (like fries).

Love peppers even more and more. Very versatile. Just FYI, those in Columbus or surrounding, there is a Paleo + MovNat meetup tomorrow in Dublin.

Raw I do fine with, but cooked like Chipotle or Fajita's i have issues.

Red peppers, 8 eggs, raw goat cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwiches for dinner tonight. The use of peppers as buns were a great idea.

Awesome! Haven't tried this yet but I'm thinking tomorrows lunch will be a tomato/basil chicken breast (leftovers) cooked on the new infrared grill with the pepper "bun."

Excited for the weekend. I have 4 grass-finished marrow bones I'm going to let sit in the crock pot for 24 hours with some onions, red peppers and spices. Nothing like bone broth on a 100 degree day!

BTW, reps for the picture of the "pepper buns." I've literally done it like 5 times since that was posted.

Twice here. I stuff the meat into the concave and use cheese (no need to comment here) as a top and eat it open faced.

Haha...pepper bun sandwiches every day this week, so far. Love me some peppers....yellow today to go with some tuna.
  • Azubuike24
Good idea. Just ate a can of tuna with a red and green pepper bun. Topped with a fresh tomato and basil.
