Honestly - it sounds like this thing is lifting the weight for you. Not all of it, but it's like when you have a spotter and they pull with a couple fingers.BR1986FB;1193883 wrote:This SlingShot is off the charts. Jumped my working weight in the bench press another 15 lbs for a set of 6. Could've probably done 10 but I don't go higher than 6 reps. I can't imagine the weights I'd be using if I actually had a spotter and liftoff out of the rack. -

It's similar to a bench shirt but the main reason I got it is to bench without pain. When I get to a certain point with benches, I'm done because my left front delt is wrecked. With this thing I can bench pain free.Raw Dawgin' it;1196474 wrote:Honestly - it sounds like this thing is lifting the weight for you. I get that - but say you can bench 225 without it and 250 with it - is it really helping your strength or is it a crutch to bench more? If it really helps with benching i'd be willing to look like a doofus at the gym and try itBR1986FB;1196476 wrote:It's similar to a bench shirt but the main reason I got it is to bench without pain. It will help strength because it will allow you to handle an overload that you wouldn't normally be able to handle. The band isn't doing the work for you.Raw Dawgin' it;1196485 wrote:I get that - but say you can bench 225 without it and 250 with it - is it really helping your strength or is it a crutch to bench more? When I'm done doing pushups & dips with it I'm feeling a significant "pump" in my chest because it allows for more reps. Not so much on the bench because I don't go above 6 reps. Now if I did, I'm sure I'd get a killer pump. -

How could you get this result if you work out in the afternoon? Honestly, i'm up at 5am and leave at 5:30 - no fucking way i'm working out before work lolBR1986FB;1196458 wrote:A little somethin' for my peeps doing LeanGains (or fasting)...(sprints!)

I wish i could try it first. Honestly, benching is what i struggle with the most. I almost exclusively use dumbbells because i workout alone and i've gotten stuck before. Everything else i see gains in, squats, deadlifts, pull ups, shoulder press...but benching seem neutral. I can do a lot more push ups but i've been unable to break my benching plateauBR1986FB;1196498 wrote:It will help strength because it will allow you to handle an overload that you wouldn't normally be able to handle. LeanGains has a protocol for the afternoon but I don't think it's nearly as effective. Fortunately, I'm usually done with my workouts during the week between 4:30-5am.Raw Dawgin' it;1196505 wrote:How could you get this result if you work out in the afternoon? I used it for incline db's too and it was effective. Believe me, you'd be shocked.Raw Dawgin' it;1196514 wrote:I wish i could try it first. Honestly, benching is what i struggle with the most. I try not to eat a few hours before I work out. And you're fucking nuts man...BR1986FB;1196515 wrote:LeanGains has a protocol for the afternoon but I don't think it's nearly as effective. Fortunately, I'm usually done with my workouts during the week between 4:30-5am. -

I have over 2 hours, round trip, for my commute. If I don't get it done first thing, by the time I'm done with that drive home I'll talk myself out of working out. Plus I can do the LeanGains more effectively that way.Raw Dawgin' it;1196531 wrote:I try not to eat a few hours before I work out. And you're fucking nuts man... -
SonofanumpBack on topic, (funny how this and the P90workout thread merge thoughts frequently) I had elk for dinner last night.

BR1986FBHave never seen this. This is a great idea for someone with limited space...a pallet garden!

Azubuike24I'm contemplating a 100% raw food approach to see how much weight I can put on with it. Not sure I'll start until late summer (have a few trips scheduled before then), but I'm intrigued by some of the research about raw foods.
I'll definitely be keeping a nearly 100% Paleo approach, as I do now, but will have to add in some additional raw dairy. I'm pretty comfortable with raw beef, eggs, seafood and even some pork, but I've never gone the raw chicken route. This seems to be the one thing a lot of people have trouble fathoming.
Anyone done it? I've also done raw starches but have had some serious GI issues afterwards. I love sweet potatoes and enjoy the taste of them raw, but the digestion process isn't the greatest... -
BR1986FBGood luck with THAT. I just can't see myself eating anything but fruits or vegetables raw.
-
Azubuike24Not even raw beef or eggs? That's not all that uncommon...same with dairy.
-
BR1986FBMy stomach doesn't do dairy well. Raw eggs would be possible but not sure on beef. The thought of raw chicken....uggh.
-
OSHI'll never do the "raw" meat or eggs stuff.
I like my steak too much to do that. I also like dressing up my eggs to much to do that. -

Is that safe? I thought we cooked our meats now that we no longer use our appendix.</SPAN>BR1986FB;1201268 wrote:The thought of raw chicken....uggh. -
Raw Dawgin' itI like raw veggies, some more than cooked. Also, i really like raw ground beef but draw the line at pork and chicken.

Azubuike24Just to clarify, sourcing meat is extremely important if you're going to eat it raw. I have some trusted sources of chicken and pork that I'd use. No way, especially those 2 things, would I ever just buy it from Kroger and eat.
My only major issue and apprehension as I said is about the veggies. Broccoli, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes and spaghetti squash are staples in my diet. I usually do 3 lbs of broccoli, 2 lbs of brussel sprouts, 2-4 sweet potatoes and 2 large spaghetti squashes a week. I've also had them raw before, and non are that pleasant to digest. The thought of that much overload in the digestion, which for me I tend to think is nearly perfect, might be more miserable than the potential gains. -
like_thatI am sure this has been discussed on here, but what is everyone's thoughts on almond milk?
