That vanilla bean ice cream is really good, especially with some sun butter.

Good read, but I think you should put it on the P90X/workout thread not the paleo/healthy eating thread.

Eh, it's been mixed into both. I'm still not a big believer that it's possible. When I've been able to build, it usually takes a lot more than those things, especially the "low intensity cardio." To me, that's sort of a paradox. Most people who are doing strength training, are getting this type of work in during their anabolic workouts. Interval training with weights will do it. The act of simply moving equipment back and forth. Moving from machine to machine. Carrying weights to and from the rack. All of that is include. Now it's not constant like say a 30-minute walk would be, but comprehensively, it adds up. The same could be easily achieved by simply having a variance of activities. Walking a round of golf. Mowing the lawn. Playing with your kids or pets. People who are active tend to already do this stuff, so while there is merit to it's purpose, the article should come with a caveat to basically say that it's a good idea for people who are literally of the thought that to build, you have to lift heavy, eat a lot and do nothing else but sit on your ass. This just isn't evolutionarily true, and even some really influential people in the strength community still advocate this.

I've heard John Welbourn say a few times that "bottom line, if you want to build strength AND muscle, you need to eat more and just sit on your ass." He might be right to an extent, but I'd much rather build strength and muscle, about 95% of what he's talking about and also incorporate the "activity" into my daily life for all of the other health benefits it brings. Much of it, mental clarity. I enjoy walks around my neighborhood, listening to biochemistry presentations/lectures, even if that walking cuts into my strength gains even a bit. Better that than sitting on my couch every moment I'm not working, eating or working out intensely with a purpose.

As an FYI, Robb Wolf has released a Paleo Diet Budget Shopping Guide on e-book for those who find some of the stuff costly...

I'm heading to AHS in 2012, most likely. Never been to Harvard, or Boston for that matter. Pretty excited...great lineup for 2012.

I just cut & pasted in from a site on Facebook called Bacon Salt. I don't do the Pinterest or Reddit.

Thought I'd get my jab in. Pinterest has been good for recipes for me.

so by reading the first few pages and last few, it seems this diet is mostly about losing weight? Any variations to gain?

Bacon causes heart disease and raises your cholesterol. Seems to be I found an easy flaw in your cherished diet. Enjoy!

You're probably going to lose bodyfat more than weight with this. You can lose weight obviously. I take it you're looking to gain weight?

yes, but healthily obviously. Have started working out routinely since the beginning of the year 5-6 days a week. Started out at 170, got down to 160 (losing fat, getting in shape I take it) and now back up to ~165 with muscle gain. Seems I have sort of bottomed out. I would ideally like to be 180 and in great shape. I take no supplements. I dont really take my diet seriously(though sometimes I'll put an extra emphasis on getting protein into my body), probably because I dont have a plan.

I don't know about packing on weight with this way of eating because, for me, the healthy fat kinda regulates my eating as a "shutoff switch." The fats satiate my appetite so it controls what I eat.

If you were to add bodyweight, you'd probably not want to go "full on" Paleo and keep stuff like rice & potatoes in your diet.

UPS tracker says the new Prowler should arrive today. Looking forward to using that bad boy for cardio on Sunday.

No, bacon in addition to other things like a sedentary lifestyle and bad diet can give you an increased risk for those two things.

Acting like it's a eat bacon...die thing is either very shortsighted or very disingenuous.

Oh and that So Delicious stuff is pretty good. Did a demo for it one time. They sell it at Giant Eagle if anyone was looking for it.

Yeah, I found it but the carb content was a little high for my liking. Would have to be a postworkout weight training meal.

OMG...just used the Prowler for the first time today. Only got through 6 forty yard sprints with weight on the sled. I'm SO blown up right now. You would never think a 15 minute workout could be that intense. Much more taxing than the sprints. Feels like HS & college football days. :D
