Paleo eating

    interesting, thanks OB.

I had that almond chicken tonight and it was pretty good. Probably takes a little too much time to make to have it that often but would be good as a once in a while thing to get a different taste. Also had a salad of baby spinach, eggs, bacon, strawberries.

What are your goals with the primal diet? Lose weight? Improve Cholestoral good/bad levels? Mitigate digestive or other health issues?

I went to the sushi bar today and had a lot of salmon and Tuna Sashimi. Too bad they didn't have gluten free soy sauce.

overall health I guess. I don't have any health issues currently, but I know I wasn't eating healthy enough. I could probably stand to lose a few pounds, but not as much as sleeper thinks. :) Just need to clean up my eating habits and try to stay as healthy as possible.

I eat Chobani Greek about 5 times a week. Does that roll with the paleos? I can tell it is a good food by how I feel afterward.

Like anything, it's tough to really say "what's Paleo and what isn't" unless you know what someone is applying it for. I appreciate OneBuckeye posting the MDA article, and although I disagree with a few of the things Mark mentions, he makes valid points.

I know with almost all dairy, I tend to feel some digestive issues and lose some ideal leanness when it's a regular habit. Not that it couldn't be just a once-in-a-while thing, I just would much rather use other sources.

BTW OneBuckeye, I wasn't arguing before. The best thing about this stuff is there is no "expert" and everyone can kind of invest their own "groove."

Is there a secret sect of Paleos that I can join that are OK with dairy? Cheese, butter, yogart are all on my diet.

They are all ok, but don't eat them every meal. The sect is called Primal led by Mark Sission. You have to know which ones to get and such as well. Grassfed butter is encouraged. Cheese should be a once a week thing. Yogurt and Cottege cheese are ok sparingly. Again it's improtant to note which ones you have and any problems you have. If you are not in a maintenace phase I would only suggest the grassfed butter.

Christ, I have a bipolor eating disorder anyway. I'll eat great for 5 days then eat a whole box of thin mints for no reason, then five mroe days of good eating.

Agree with the middle comment about dairy. Messes up my stomach so it's convenient that I don't consume it. I'll replace milk with coconut milk in most cases.

Just curious, did you have problems with dairy before you started paleo?

Yes...I didn't eat if before either except for the occasional ice cream

Be careful of where you want to be on the carb curve though. Dairy can contain a lot of carbs if you consume a lot.

I'm about to do a 3-4 day blood glucose testing cycle on different foods. Going to test that with some parallel data in a month or so with Insulin measurements. Fascinating stuff :)

Lustig on 60 Minutes tonight. Nice to see that get some national exposure.

A week ago I started a new routine strictly with Kettlebell swings, handstand push-ups and air squats. Mostly just because I really enjoy doing these exercises on their own. Random, I know, but it's been amazing the strength gains I've seen in a week. This was after a few months of no serious weight training other than some occassional Dead Lifting and other body weight stuff for recreation.

I haven't given an update for quite some time...sorry. I know everyone was probably wondering...

I am 77 days (78 in a few hours when I wake up) into the 4-Hour Body lifestyle change. On day 67, I hit the 28 pound weight loss mark.

I am pretty excited about being as low as I am. I haven't been here in over 5 years, no doubt about that. I have had about 4 days of exercise -- wish it was a bit more. I will hopefully get more kettlebell swings in once my dad makes me one. I'd also like to pick up a couple of ab exercises. I'll get around to it, hopefully after Easter.

Things are going well with it. I made some almond-crusted chicken nuggets on Thursday night...delicious! I've also lost around 5+ inches to my belly area and over an inch around the widest part of my hips. I am back into the blue jeans I used to always wear. My dress pants have plenty of extra room in them now, as well. I feel like the hip area is definitely lost more than an inch because of the way the jeans fit, I have way more room than I am used to.

Maybe with changing up the routine a bit, I'll get down another 5-10...which I wouldn't be disappointed in.
