    Not true.

    Swarbrick said players and trainers went through the fence as soon as the accident occurred to see if there was anything they could help with. Kelly joined Swarbrick next to Declan until he was moved into the ambulance. At that time, Kelly went back to the practice field and had the players leave the field and go into the Gug.

    I wanted to say something similar about how he probably wasn't forced up there by Kelly or anyone else but didn't want to face the wrath on here that would have been sure to follow.

    This is really, really bad for ND and everyone involved. He may not have been forced up there, but he should have been forced down. It's the head coaches job to ensure the safety of everyone at practice.

    Moved the players to keep them in a controlled environment, which terminated practice. The team remained in the Gug where they stayed until a team meeting was called. Practice was not continued.

    It's sad to see an accident like this happen but you will see coaches around the country take more caution when it comes to stuff like this

    I read that Tressel quote earlier today, also kinda spooky but glad to see it. I read that Zook once ordered a kid at UF to stay in a lift with lightning in the area.

    This one hits close to home. I've been doing the exact same thing as this kid for 7 years now (no longer at the college level though). I've been in scissor lifts but fortunately not very often because they are terrible in the wind. Last year I was in one with 20-30mph gusts and I was pretty nervous...couldn't imagine wind like yesterday....I probably would have been 15-20 feet off the ground if that... We use boom lifts this year and they are way better for what we do...they go higher and they sway less...but the tradeoff is they are more expensive, so a lot of schools will rent scissor lifts instead.

    In my experience, with situations like this, it's up to the operator of the lift to determine how high to go. What I've always been told is film from where you are comfortable. Maybe this kid was never told that I don't know. I've heard of coaches demanding video guys stay up, but they are rare...none I've ever worked for..so BK could be a factor in this. As for the video coordinator....I can't imagine how he feels. His responsibility in the accident could vary. Obviously if he never covered what to do in this type of situation then he will take a lot of the blame, as he should. Also, a lot of video coordinators aren't actually out at practice so they are oblivious to weather conditions. This is where, again, he should have covered what to do...if he did and he was inside...there isn't much blame that can be placed on him I don't think...but if he was outside filming as well...he should have the experience to know how to handle the situation...I've only been doing this 7 years and feel confident in handling any weather related situation. There is no doubt, however, that ND will be shelling out a lot of money in a lawsuit that I guarantee they lose.

    I imagine the family could name a figure and they would get it, I don't see this going to court.

    20 year old kid doing his job, aware of the impending danger (based on his Tweet), but knowing that this was his "responsibilty".....IMO, it's up to an adult, ANY adult, to say "hey, it's too windy out today, too dangerous--get down from there"...where the hell were all these adults????? yes, ND's going to pay--dearly.

    i know, which is why they'll hand them a blank check in a settlement and it will never reach court. i'd be very surprised if it does.

    Tressel's presser on Tuesday morning where he specifically references the safety of the cameramen "50 feet up" is all that family is going to need in a wrongful death suit. OSU showed caution and common sense whereas ND for whatever reason, chose to leave this poor young man vulnerable in the worst way. Blank check about sums it up. What a horrible tragedy and my prayers are with the family and friends of this young man.

    You do know that Notre Dame practiced indoors Tuesday, correct? This accident occurred Wednesday. Did OSU practice inside Wednesday or did Tressel say he was concerned on Wednesday?

    Look at you trying to somehow equate Tress with the total lack of intelligence demo'd at ND last Tues. I've restrained from commenting on this until more was known. Well now it appears we all know this kid was under Kelly's direct supervision. Terrible accident but Kelly has blood on his hands now. Hope the kid's parents take this to court and Kelly and Soreprick lose their jobs and the parents make millions on top of it. From now on any reference I make to the coach of ND will be Coach Scissor Lift.

    Are you mentally challenged? Notre Dame practiced inside on Tuesday as did Ohio State. Tressel's comments were made on Tuesday. I asked the Ohio State beat writer for the Dispatch if OSU practiced inside Wednesday. He said they were outside, even after saying how worried he was on Tuesday. You should restrain from commenting more because you obviously don't have a clue yet.

    Seriously?! These posts are pretty low...even for you. Let's not lose sight of the fact that a kid lost his life. And the people that are clamoring for someone to blame and calling for the heads of Kelly and Swarbrick and anyone else associated with ND football at all are doing a disservice to Declan Sullivan's memory.
