This game is starting to remind me of the one when the Buckeyes played North Carolina in the 2006/07 season.eersandbeers wrote: OSU is 14-22 and 5-8 from 3 right now. They are lighting it up.
WVU is 9-22 and 5-9 from 3. -

Sick? WVU has 25 pts with under 3 to go in half? What more do u want? Sheesh...can't please anyone.charliehustle14 wrote: Our defense makes me sick sometimes with all the open looks we give up from behind the arc.
And Lighty makes me sick in this game. Threw one pass into the stands when he had both Turner and Simmons wide open. Then drove to the hole and threw it off the backboard...it didn't even look like he was attempting to make it. And then on defense, he stood around when the shot went up instead of crashing the boards. -
BigAppleBuckeyeBeen stuck on 35 points forever, lets go boys!
-
cbus4lifeWVU should actually start playing defense on Turner and stop flopping trying to get "push-off" calls.
-
devil1197Thank god the guys came to play today.
Turner 6/11 for 13 points
Buford 4/6 for 11 points
Diebler 3/4 for 9 points
Shooting 57% right now. -

Never fails that some idiotic OSU fan will get on and complain when they're up by double-digits and actually playing really good defense, by and large.charliehustle14 wrote: Our defense makes me sick sometimes with all the open looks we give up from behind the arc.

Defense has been effective, designed to force long shots, just happen to be making them.
And, as i'm typing this, great defensive possession by the Buckeyes. -

centralbucksfanOSU with a VERY good half. Shooting lights out. Doubtful that ill continue and as I mentioned, WVU will make a run. But OSU is doing everything they need thsu far, decent defense, rebounding well, and protecting the ball. Although WVU is hitting some threes...they are burning time off the clock, and OSU is rebounding well. Giving p 28pts in half away vs the #11 team....not sure you can ask for anything more then that.

Getting knocked down isn't flopping. Flopping is falling when you aren't touched.
Either way, WVU sucks. They aren't even a top 25 team. Can't shoot, pass, play defense, or run an offensive play. -

Oh shut up, don't be a cock. You know me from the JJHuddle days and know what I'm about, so don't get condescending with me. You know I'm a level headed fan, so I'd expect you to know better.centralbucksfan wrote:

The fact is OSU has given up way too many wide open looks from 3 range in this game. Holding them to 25 (28 now) is great....but it could be much less than that if we could get a hand in a face. WVU has been a struggling team this year when it comes to shooting, but that doesn't mean they'll miss the uncontested ones. You still got to put a hand in a face.
Just like against Purdue when Hummel got look..after look...after wide open look from deep. -

They'd also put the students in the rafters at St Johns now.mallymal614 wrote:

You just can't tell in Columbus because they put the students in the rafters.
St. Johns means 7000 fewer potential tickets to sell.
No VIP Seats.
No Club seats
No $200+ tickets to sell -
royal_kThis just in.....this Evan Turner kid can play.

Midstate01I'm very happy with that half. We got through the 3 minutes without scoring. My only question would be was was deibler on the bench so long. Did he have 2 fouls?

Actually, you can shut the f up. You can't ask for a better half, 12pt lead, holding a team to 28. And Lauderdale played as well as he can. Yet YOU aren't satisfied? Get a clue and be realistic. OSU is playing as well as they can. You can't ask for more then that. If someone told you OSU would be up by 12 at half, you and anyone would take it in a heartbeat. When you play zone, teams are going to get open looks. It is what it is. Its also caused more problems and turnovers. Matta is playing the odds as he should. I knew they would be playing a lot of zone today, as they should.charliehustle14 wrote:

devil1197Why wouldn't you play zone and push guys outside the perimiter especially when a team is struggling to shoot the ball?
OSU is doing what it needs to do to win the ball game. This would be another huge W, three straight against ranked teams. -
centralbucksfan
Yes it would...but there is a LONG way to go. WVU will make a run and get back into it before its over. They won't go away easily.devil1197 wrote: Why wouldn't you play zone and push guys outside the perimiter especially when a team is struggling to shoot the ball?

devil1197Oh every good team makes a run but hopefully OSU can slow it and hit some big shots.
-
cviewSolid half. I expect it to tighten up a little in the second.
But what the hell was that last set of the half? Good defense, but we have to get a better shot than that with 5 seconds left and we just forced a 25 foot jumper from WVU. -

It's not about playing any kind of defense. I agree, OSU is doing the right thing by being in the zone. But when you play a zone, you still got to bust ass and close out on the shooter. Lighty and Buford have both done a poor job of getting out to the perimeter today...it's not a flaw in the defensive scheme....it's just being lazy.centralbucksfan wrote:

Lauderdale has played well....my only gripe with him is not bringing in some of those 'gotta have' rebounds that hit him right in the hands in the first half. He's the strongest guy on the court, so no excuse for not being strong with the ball. I know of 2 instances where he couldn't hang on to a rebound and it led to 2 second chance threes by WVU. -

Laurderdale has got to be strong with the ball....especially when in traffic and against a Huggins-coached team known for always been active. -
behindthelenseLet's see if the Buck's can maintain the same level of intensity for the entire second half.
