2017 OSU Football Discussion

He's gonna be an absolute beast by the time he's done in Columbus. Might be the best of the entire bunch of DEs that Ohio State has, or is currently recruiting.

AutomatikTook me longer than normal, but I'm finally getting excited.
Reading 11W and the continuing slurping of the Dline has me pumped. -
jordo212000I'm still curious as to who has the lead to be the backup QB. Seems like in a pinch, Burrow? But long term Haskins? Burrow just does everything solid. Haskins has Cardale Jones like ability

mcburg93Listening to some of these guys talk about Dobbins, sounds as if he is looking phenomenal in these practices. Does Webber have to worry about his job? I read some tweets saying the new starting running back for the Buckeyes, talking of Dobbins. I did not think there would be a chance Webber would lose his job, but with all this talk it seems there is a chance. I guess it is just talk at this point.
Can we fast forward to next week? -

Joe Burrow broke a bone in his throwing hand. Out 4-6 weeks most likely. Very unfortunate news.
This should mean that Haskins will win the battle for back-up QB, and will definitely give him an advantage going into next season. -

Hated to read this today. He looked real good in clean up roles last season. Hope for a speedy recovery.ironman02;1868320 wrote:https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2017/08/84443/ohio-state-backup-quarterback-joe-burrow-breaks-bone-in-throwing-hand

wildcats20Assuming Tate won't be redshirted now?

Is this something that's declared, or can he suit up and hopefully not have to play until Burrow is back?wildcats20;1868324 wrote:Assuming Tate won't be redshirted now? -

He can suit up, and as long as he doesn't play he can still redshirt.queencitybuckeye;1868345 wrote:Is this something that's declared, or can he suit up and hopefully not have to play until Burrow is back? -

mcburg93How is the Dline going to pan out? Who will be the starters? The d ends are stacked with talent.
-
ironman02
Guessing the starters will be Hubbard, Jones, Sprinkle, and Lewis. Then Bosa and Holmes will play almost as much as the starters at DE. Probably will see several guys rotate in at DT also. Probably about 8-10 guys total that could play, and really play well overall.mcburg93;1868537 wrote:How is the Dline going to pan out? Who will be the starters? The d ends are stacked with talent. -

SportsAndLadyHad a work event (going to a bar to drink, so not really "work") scheduled for next Thursday night that I originally RSVP'd yes for. Completely forgot OSU plays that night. So used to the noon Saturday games to kick off the season.

I think you are correct. Listening and reading things this A.M. that are talking about how the number will be down for each player since they all will be sharing playing time. Its a great problem to have.ironman02;1868584 wrote:Guessing the starters will be Hubbard, Jones, Sprinkle, and Lewis. Then Bosa and Holmes will play almost as much as the starters at DE. Six days. Is there a fast forward button? lol -
vball10setInteresting--I wonder it they'll alternate as the deep guy and the up man?

Punt returner
Both. Demario McCall said last week that the Buckeyes were practicing with both he and K.J. Hill on the field at the same time. Urban Meyer noted this week how difficult it is to block a punt in today’s game, and Ohio State’s answer could be to add another returner. When the Hoosiers punt for the first time, chances are good both players take the field. -
mcburg93I am still concerned with Prince even though everyone is saying he has made leaps and bounds from last year. Just hard for me to think that Pridgeon or one of the other guys would not be better for that tackle spot. I guess we will find out soon.

ironman02Huber Heights Wayne 4* WR L'Christian "Blue" Smith committed to Ohio State today. Another solid pick up for the historic 2018 class.
His team is currently getting waxed on ESPN, which is kind of a downer on his commitment day, but at 6'5" and still growing, he could make a huge impact in the Ohio State offense in the coming years. -
mcburg93
Glad he picked the Buckeyes. I know he was having a hard time with teams wanting him to switch to TE. I think if he keeps growing he might not have a choice.ironman02;1868897 wrote:Huber Heights Wayne 4* WR L'Christian "Blue" Smith committed to Ohio State today.
