I thought Hicks was announcing before but it looks like he'll wait it out.

Awesome news. Hopefully he can turn out to be be more like Donte Whitner or Ginn, and not like Hiley or Lennix. It seems from Glenville they either hit a homerun or strike out.

Bryant was a much needed pick up for safety depth. You never know with that spot open he could make a push and play next to fellow Glenville star Hines.

My thoughts about the rest of the class and why I thnk it is a very good class.

Darryl Baldwin DE 6-6 250 4.69 5.7 Solon, OH - I think Darryl is a good DE but may find a place at TE and make a big impact there. 2011 is loaded with DEs. Will make an impact on the program.

Drew Basil K 6-2 188 - 5.4 Chillicothe, OH - Good kicker... how many 5* kickers are there? none. One of the best in 2010

Corey Brown ATH 6-0 186 4.47 5.9 Springfield, PA - Quite kid that doesn't like the lime light, his moves have been compared to reggie bush. Will make a good WR and have a big impact.

Christian Bryant DB 5-10 173 4.46 5.9 Cleveland, OH -Top 10 corner in the nation got great reviews from AA bowl practices.

David Durham DE 6-3 228 4.7 5.6 Charlotte, NC - Under rated kid IMO who uses his hands on the LOS like no one else, and has a high motor, will become a great DE, the next Nathan Williams except I think he has better moves off the line.

Taylor Graham QB 6-4 211 - 5.8 Wheaton, IL - Not sure he'll make an impact, he will provide good depth and thats about it.

Chad Hagan LB 6-2 230 4.4 5.5 Canonsburg, PA - Not sure where this kid will fit in, or if he is a LB or Safety there isn't enough video on him to draw a conclusion but could be a diamond in the rough. Nobody wanted him because of his heart condition and now that is 100% behind him.

Johnathon Hankins DT 6-3 326 5.1 5.5 Detroit, MI - Big kid with high motor. As long as he stays in shape and can play with a high motor when he is in, he will be disruptive. Just watch his video. Will make an impact at a position with not much depth.

Carlos Hyde RB 6-1 230 - 5.8 Fork Union, VA - Power runner people have been looking for but a year late. We are stacked at RB but he provides good depth. There will be a great competition at RB and the best will play. Not sure how he will turn out in the long run but he will at least push the guys ahead of him.

James Louis WR 5-11 178 4.4 5.8 Delray Beach, FL - Playmaker, I think he would make a better CB than WR, I think he will make an impact where ever he ends up. I think he could pull a Flash Thomas and transfer if he doesn't see PT early. Not sure how he will end up.

Scott McVey LB 5-11 215 4.5 5.6 Cleveland, OH - Smart kid, high motor will be the next AJ Hawk or JL and you can take that to the bank.

J.T. Moore DE 6-4 220 4.75 5.6 Youngstown, OH - Not sure if he will make a big impact, I have heard things good and bad about him. I wouldn't count on him making an impact, but he was a very early offer and commit so JT must have seen something about him he liked to offer that early.

Andrew Norwell OL 6-7 275 - 5.9 Cincinnati, OH - Would have been the #2 OL prospect if he hadn't got hurt IMO. He is good and will be the forgotten prospect that makes a huge impact.

Verlon Reed ATH 6-2 185 4.5 5.6 Columbus, OH - He is starting at QB but I think he ends up at safety. I think he ends up being a depth guy.

Bradley Roby WR 6-0 175 4.4 5.6 Suwanee, GA - Starting at CB and I think he will be the next 3 star CB to be a bonafide starter, ala Jenkins and Chekwa.

Roderick Smith RB 6-3 220 4.5 5.9 Fort Wayne, IN - Most underrated RB in the 2010 class. A huge power back. Again we are loaded at RB and he will at least push others to be better.

Jamel Turner DE 6-3 210 4.6 5.8 Fork Union, VA - Another forgotten stud in the class. He would be a 5* had he not gotten into trouble and went to Fork Union. Hopefully he can keep his head on straigh because he is loaded with talent and will be an impact player.

Tyrone Williams WR 6-7 215 4.5 5.7 East Cleveland, OH - Good tall WR but there is a lot of depth at WR and he will have to earn his time. I expect him to be a kid that gets buried and makes an impact his RS JR and or RS SR year.

Also, Eric Kramer (6'4 270 OL) from St. X committed to OSU as a preferred walk on if anyone wanted to know!

Nope lol. James will be going to ND along with his HS QB imo.

Latawn Anderson must be smoking crack with this comment:

Greg Ladky caught up with Latwan following Christian Bryant's announcement. Latwan is visiting USC this weekend. He'll leave on Friday and will be there until Sunday. He said he still loves West Virginia and they have been supportive of him visiting other programs to make sure WVU is the place for him. Also Latwan understands the situation at Ohio State where they are waiting on the decisions of Seantrel Henderson and Jordan Hicks. If a spot opens up at Ohio State, they'll be in the running for his commitment.

Anderson, you already had the shot and selected WVU over OSU at the AA game.

    Damn. Wishful thinking.

Eh, right now I'd rather have Henderson along with mostly everyone.
  • charliehustle14
With the addition of Christian Bryant, give me Henderson and this class becomes very good. Even without Hicks, Moses, or James.
  • darbypitcher22
Give me Henderson and I say we're done. The Bryant kid was a HUGE pick up.... I don't see us getting Hicks but that would be HUGE to get Henderson and Hicks, although many have said on here that it won't happen(I dont' think it will either)
  • devil1197
The longer Hicks has waited has made me feel somewhat better about OSU's chances.

Over any combo left, I'd take Henderson and Moses.
  • darbypitcher22
i think that's what a lot of people would take. I say we get at least one more great player out of this, and we can call this a decent class. Two more and I think you can elevate it to good, considering the amount of guys we lost because people know we're loaded and didn't want to wait
  • devil1197
OSU offered this Aussie punter Karutz a greyshirt so he won't count towards this years scholarship count.
  • ironman02
Glad to see that Bryant is a Buckeye. Now I really want Henderson and I'll be content.

Would be nice to get Hicks too, but I'm not going to be greedy.

I've been watching the Glenville program for about 4-5 games a year since roughly 2002-2003, and there is some unreal talent there. However, you are very correct in the "home run or strikeout" analogy. Many of them have problems after they get away from Coach Ginn when it comes to priorities.

I remember Lennix laying a hit on Boom and Danny jumped right up and they began talking at each other. Later on I asked Danny what he said and Danny replied that "he liked playing against me because I hit back." You could see the talent that Lennix had, but his head just wasn't into the student-athlete thinking.

Scott McVey LB 5-11 215 4.5 5.6 Cleveland, OH - Smart kid, high motor will be the next AJ Hawk or JL and you can take that to the bank.

Great breakdown OneBuckeye. I watched McVey 4 times this year and he is impressive. Great football IQ, never quits on a play, and he plays hurt. Plus he's really smart like OneBuckeye said, so grades are no problem here.
  • charliehustle14
Yeah I've heard that McVey is a cross between current Buckeyes Ross Homan and Nathan Williams...but that's some very high praise so I've been skeptical since I haven't gotten a chance to see him play yet.

When they described him, they said he's a tough/smart kid, sound tackler, and good ball skills like Homan...and he's very physical, athletic, and versatile like Williams.

I should try to find some tape on this kid and give it a look.

He's obviously not the biggest kid, but he just seems to have a feel for the game that you can't teach. A nose for the football, I guess. He comes from a pretty good program, though. Chuck Kyle, IMO is in the top 5 nation wide when it comes HS coaches.
  • devil1197
He'll add weight, nice to see him around 225-230 if possible.

I think its the Scout or Rivals player ratings.
