Terry_TateI read that Mick Cronin was probably the coach that is referred to, is that what you've seen Azu?

I've read it's Steve LavinTerry_Tate;1745777 wrote:I read that Mick Cronin was probably the coach that is referred to, is that what you've seen Azu? -
Azubuike24Sounds like it was Cronin and recruiting of Marquis Teague. I don't know of any recruits that St. John's and UK have really been involved with, except Cheick Diallo who went to Kansas.

Ironman92Cronin just signed a good one in Jarron Cumberland. I've had a lot of his family members in school.
/cool story bro -
Azubuike24Not quite the death penalty, but Larry Brown and SMU just had the hammer dropped on them.
Ineligible for the postseason in 2015-16
9 scholarships over 3 years lost
Larry Brown will be suspended 30% of the team's games this upcoming year and must complete a mandatory rules seminar
The 3rd school that has been sanctioned under Brown's watch. -
Commander of AwesomeWhat for?

Azubuike24https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/ncaa-reportedly-will-suspend-larry-brown--ban-smu-from-postseason-143123704.html
"The penalties stem from an NCAA investigation into whether members of SMU's coaching staff helped former McDonald's All-American Keith Frazier with the coursework he needed to become eligible to play for the Mustangs.
The NCAA found that an SMU assistant encouraged Frazier to enroll in an online course necessary for him to meet initial eligibility standards to be admitted to the university. Then a SMU men’s basketball administrative assistant obtained Frazier's username and password and completed his coursework, enabling him to play for the Mustangs as a freshman during the 2013-14 season.
What also contributed to the severity of SMU's punishment is that Brown and his staff were allegedly not forthright when approached by NCAA investigators." -
SportsAndLadyFrazier sucks too.

Azubuike24Just exhibition, but some thoughts from UK's first game.
The team will be extremely fast and maybe Calipari's best offensive team. They start 3 point guards, and three PG's who are all slightly different. Ulis is the ultimate team guy, runs the offense, is deadly when left open and just makes everything function at a high rate. Jamal Murray...well the guy is unbelievable. He's going to have the best season of any guard under Calipari, a better version of Brandon Knight, but maybe a better shooter and better PG. Isaiah Briscoe is the wild card, not a great shooter but probably the quickest and best finisher of the three. Similar to Eric Bledsoe, not as athletic but similar build and style.
Jamal Murray could be the best player for Calipari under UK. People will call me crazy, but if he doesn't play at an All-American level, I'll be shocked. He's got an overall game and a maturity you just don't see. People are going to realize early on just how polished both he and Ben Simmons are. Day one they will look like upperclassman.
Skal Labisierre can be a dominant offensive player, but he's nowhere near Davis, Noel, Cauley-Stein or Towns defensively. Skal is built like Davis, but he's not nearly as strong or demanding of space. His offense will be able to take over from day 1, hitting threes, a face up jumper and fine back to the basket game. However, thinking he will do a ton of damage on the boards or defense is premature. He's more of a 2/3 playing the 5 because of his size.
Poythress/Lee/Humphries will be the keys inside. It's a far cry from the Towns/Cauley-Stein/Lee/Dakari/Lee/Lyles interior. Not nearly the skill or the depth. Nobody who really commands respect on defense, other than Lee at times. Because of the prior mention of Skal, the health of these guys and the ability to do the little things will be huge.
Defense will struggle early. Expect some shoot outs early on. Calipari is going to just let this offense go, but the defense is going to be a year long work in progress. There are only 3 or 4 true defensive gamers that I've seen, Ulis, Matthews, Lee and Poythress. Everyone else is still going to really have their struggles, especially when the looks get changed up.
I think even the non-UK fans will enjoy watching this team. They are going to play some absolutely exciting, shootout type games, especially against teams like Duke and UCLA. -
wildcats20Marcus Paige fractured a bone in his nonshooting hand today at practice; out 3-4 weeks.
Fantastic. -
Laley23Season has already kicked off, but most of our teams are playing in a few hours. AHHHH, it feels great to have college basketball back!
Side note: Anyone know if ESPN is doing the 24 hour special again, and if so, the lineup? I havent seen it advertised at all if its happening, but also havent watched a lot of ESPN/ABC the last month or so. -

IliketurtlesPretty pumped can't wait! I'll be recording games and watching them later tonight. Kinda forgot the season started this weekend when I bought hockey tickets a month ago.
Yale is already going to start my college basketball betting off right at least! -
Azubuike24Colorado/Auburn should be a fun game to watch actually. 2 pretty average teams, but could be exciting up and down.
-
Laley23Fantastic! I'm in Seattle this weekend, redeye home Sunday night. So I'll be in west coast time. This gives me something to watch while I can't fall asleep.
Also pumped for Ben Sinmons on Monday night. -
wildcats20Carolina, without MP, just finished an impressive 24 point win over a good Temple team.
Kennedy Meeks was big time with 25 and 12. I expect a lot of that, especially with Paige sidelined. -
MulvaPitt/Gonzaga canceled at halftime. Maybe time to stop these ridiculous overseas games that are a disaster every year.
-
MulvaWisconsin loses to Western Illinois.
-
SportsAndLadyGeorgetown lost to Radford at home...wish Rec was still around so we could see a hilarious JTIII post from him lol
