Azubuike24Cal is going to be pretty good.

thavoiceWas wondering if the platooning would hurt Calipari at Kentucky. Apparently he is losing many recruits he wanted thsi year and is blaming that as the reason. If I am top flight guy......do you want to go to UK and play a lot less minutes knowing that you can go elsewhere, play practically the whole game and still get drafted high?
-
wildcats20He's done with the platooning.
-
thavoice
Yeah..i saw he came out and said that. Mostly likely because he is having a hard time getting the top of the line guys from what I readwildcats20;1726908 wrote:He's done with the platooning. -
wildcats20I think he's done with it because it is a terrible idea and didn't work.
-
Azubuike24It worked until Alex Poythress tore his ACL. That was a big piece who was versatile and it really exposed the only true weakness (the SF/3 spot, both Poythress and Lyles were more 4's)
He should've completely abandoned it after that, because after his top 9, there was a drop-off.
Instead, he tried to plug and play with Derek Willis/Dominique Hawkins, and IMO, it took away from developing a solid core of 7 (should've been the Twins, Ulis, Booker, Cauley-Stein, Lyles and Towns). -
Azubuike24For instance, look at the Kansas and Providence games specifically. Both decent teams that got completely overwhelmed with the platoons. During both games, the offense stalled, and Calipari brought in the new platoon as a spark. However, defensively they lost nothing at all. Moving Lyles, an offensive creator and threat to the starting lineup pretty much made the Ulis, Booker, Johnson and Lee platoon one that couldn't score. Keep that platoon more balanced with Lyles and Poythress (a defensive/rebounding guy, not offensive) in the starting 5 and it's more devastating.

Azubuike245-star big man Caleb Swanigan not signing with Michigan State. Appears he will either go to Purdue or California. Cal, who already signed two 5-star recruits (Ivan Rabb and Jaylen Brown), could land a 3rd. This would given Cuonzo Martin the likely #1 recruiting class, or very close.
For a guy who COULDN'T recruit at Tennessee, it's unfathomable that he could bring in this class at Cal. I mean, I'm not implying anything shady, but if there was ever a time to throw out shady accusations, it's here. -
sleeper
Coming from a Kentucky fan this is hilarious. Yay, and Cal just happened to stop his shady deals at UMass and Memphis when he went to UK.Azubuike24;1727395 wrote:5-star big man Caleb Swanigan not signing with Michigan State. Azubuike24I didn't bring that up for a reason because that's not what the point was. This doesn't need to become a UK/Calipari thread. But rest-assured, it WAS said about Calipari back then and still is today. Why not even a mention of it about Cuonzo and Cal? Just saying. The guy literally was known for awful recruiting at Tennessee...

I only picked 5 road wins for the ACC. 3 road wins for the B1G. Will 8 road win actually happen? Probably not but there were only 3 games I feel really confident in a team actually winning. For the rest I just went with who I felt had the better coach or a known star player. I'm sure when it comes to December I'll change a few of these after seeing teams actually play.centralbucksfan;1728944 wrote:Ur picking 8 road wins for the ACC out of 14. Not gonna happen. -

And it's funny you're forgetting that one because I obviously forgot to add it in my first post when I said the ACC would win 8-5 and not 9-5. Granted it would probably better for all if the Wake/Rutgers game doesn't happen. -
wildcats20Lol didn't catch that.
-
IliketurtlesHaha yeah it's cool. Like I said will probably be best if that game doesn't happen. Wake should be a lot better with all their returning starters but Rutgers is still terrible.
Also just for fun I went back and looked some past years results:
2014 - 7 out of 14 road teams won
2013 - 2 out of 12 road teams won
2012 - 6 out of 12 road teams won
2011 - 6 out of 12 road teams won
2010 - 5 out of 11 road teams won
Was pretty interesting to see 7 road teams won last year. Doesn't make me feel as crazy as I did realizing I picked 8 for this year.
