College Basketball Random Chatter 2015-2016 Season

Kentucky at Kansas at Phog Allen on January 30th as part of the SEC/Big 12 challenge. Interesting, being right in the middle of conference play.

    Duke
    Kansas
    Louisville
    UCLA
    Ohio State
    Arizona State

    Solid OOC schedule.

Damn those will be some great games. Will be awesome to see UK/KU at Phog Allen.

    Kansas and Kentucky at Allen.

And Duke and Kentucky at the United Center.

Doesn't get much bigger than that.

I would have loved to have seen Duke and Maryland in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, though. Had they played that game in College Park it would have been the most electric environment of the season. Add Rasheed Suliamon to the equation and the result is a pretty riveting matchup. Oh well.

    Rule proposals for timeouts...fantastic developments.

  • wildcats20
    Also...

@marchmadness: Other #MBBRules proposals include eliminating coach-called live ball timeouts and 10 second backcourt timer will not reset with timeout.
  • wildcats20
Shot clock reduced to 30. Good.

Also expanded the restricted area to 4 feet.
  • Azubuike24
The backcourt thing is great. I absolutely hate when a team puts on a nice press and it gets to 8 or 9, the opponent calls a timeout and then can in-bounds into the backcourt again.

Some random as fuck changes in the women's game...

@MuffetMcGraw: Great new rule changes for Wbb: 4 10 min quarters =1 less time out, inbound the ball in front court after t.o. in last min=exciting finish[emoji122]
  • wildcats20
    I actually like them..
e committee came up with suggested changes this week that include playing four 10-minute quarters instead of two halves, advancing the ball to the frontcourt in the final minute of games after a timeout and shooting two free throws after the fifth foul of each quarter. Those rules are used in the WNBA.

Reddit user made a combined schedule for next year. May not be 100% correct because in the thread, posters were providing updates/corrections.

Former Michigan State and Notre Dame player Garrick Sherman.

@gsherm11: I pissed in a condom and gave it to Durrell summers to pass a drug test. Suck it #NCAA #stillwenttothefinalfour #suckstobeyou

The penalties will come from the OLD way of doing things. Which were way less lenient.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm also I little less concerned now.

Also, Roy is not listed anywhere at all. That's a positive for the bball program.
  • Azubuike24
It lists "men's basketball" and references the years 2002 through 2013. That is Roy's entire tenure at UNC. He may not be listed specifically, but hell, John Calipari also wasn't listed in the final allegations against Memphis. He still takes the hammer for those violations, though. And admittedly, while his personal record isn't tarnished, it's naive to believe the HC doesn't know what's going on.

Did anyone catch the Calipari interview on the Dan Patrick Show? They really got into it

He and DP always put on a show. Cal sure sounds like he's got a chip on his shoulder after losing and everyone claiming he can't get recruits.

Overly sensitive people who know they f'd up, usually get pretty defensive when questioned about a failure. Cal pissed down his leg from a coaching perspective this year, and he knows it. He tried to please everyone.

With Jamal Murray going to UK, it will be difficult not to put them preseason #1 again.

Bo Ryan retiring after this year. Kinds of surprising.

Very surprising. I'm sure Rec is rejoicing due to this news though!
  • Azubuike24
I'll be very interested to see what they do. Ryan said he hopes his assistant gets the job. I say given Barry Alvarez's relationship with Dick Bennett, that they try to get Tony Bennett away from UVA. It sounds like Ryan could've retired NOW, but wanted to set it up for his guy to possibly get the job. If he would've quit today, his guy probably gets 1 year, and if it's not great (like it's expected to be, as Wisky lost quite a bit of talent), they might look elsewhere.

Even in his departure, there's quite a bit of politics and manipulation going on here by Bo.
  • Classyposter58
Did not realize he is 67 years old. Good age to bring it to an end I think
  • Azubuike24
He's been coaching in Wisconsin forever. He looks about 70. How old did you think he was?
  • Laley23
Anyone but Tony Bennett. Can't stand watching UVA play.

I doubt Cal makes any friends by acting like this, but it's funny regardless.
