College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Lol 2 palming calls against UL...only in Rupp
  • Azubuike24
The first one was bad. The second one was right. Agreed with Anthony.

UK is gonna struggle down the stretch. Randle's injury has really made them desperate offensively.

Kentucky looking good. My hatred for Louisville has far surpassed my dislike of Kentucky in the past couple of years. Even if I didn't have money on this, I'd be cheering vehemently against the Cardinals. The whole team rubs me the wrong way, and, I know it doesn't take much for me to hold a grudge against someone, but I hate Russ Smith. Not really sure why.

Cats hung on despite tons of missed foul shots.
  • Pick6
prob already been answered, but what the hell did Cauley-Stein do to his hair?

    Bill Walton Alert on ESPN2.

First thing I hear him say when I turn the game on, "The Bruins are completely discombobulated." I don't know why, but it made me laugh pretty hard. I think it's just the dramatic way in which he says it. Anyway, so glad that we'll get another year of Bill at the helm calling college games.

Bill Walton: "The history of Alabama basketball ... C.M. Newton, Wimp Sanderson, Robert Horry, who has the most NBA championships of anybody who's not a Celtic."

    Lol.
  • Mulva
Haha Walton just rattles an all Pac-12 historic team off the top of his head. Dave Pasch's only response: "OK, that was pretty good".

    Bill Walton is the man

Huge hippie...love when he goes off on old 70's bands. He's also been on record talking about his "acid days"

Pitino has kicked Behanan off the team. And Kevin Ware will most likely redshirt after getting kicked in the same leg he broke in the tournament.

    Lol at Pitino and Behanan.

Now that the Kentucky game is over (a game in which Behannan scored 0 and the Cardinals lost), it's time to send a stern message. LOL.

Something has been off with Chane for a few games now. Look at his numbers. He's a shell of what he used to be. He used to be a guy who played balls to the wall and was actually a player many non-UL folks appreciated despite not necessarily liking him. It's a sad end.

Pitino basically said he felt Luke Chane could see the writing on the wall that his time was coming to an end.

It's obvious that Behannan shouldn't have been playing basketball this year. There might still be an underlying problem related to his drug use going on, which would account for his wildly unsteady play and why he was ultimately released from the team for a second time.

Pitino wanted him to play because there was a possible national title on the line. If somebody has a cocaine or other serious drug habit, as Behannan is rumored to have had, then fixing that problem should be the number one concern. Not winning a national title. Again, that was the rumor, so we don't know for sure, but as Az said, something was severely wrong with the kid and it wasn't injury-related.

Toledo up 13 to 10 early in Allen Fieldhouse. I've been impressed thus far in my first viewing of the Rockets. I anticipate a big Kansas run to open things up at some point, but so far Toledo is living up to the billing its received from many early this season.

It would be nice to see Toledo in the NCAAs this year.

Southern is playing something called Champion Baptist College ... 75-6 in the 2nd half. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/conversation?gameId=400504627
  • wildcats20
Started on a 44-0 run. Insane.

It's 90 to 10 now. I don't think a "teaser" could've done much at all for this one.

San Diego State beat St. Catherine's College over the weekend 118 to 35, leading 100 to 18 or something at one point. Scheduling teams like that is just embarrassing. The old saying, "Pick on somebody your own size," comes to mind.

    116-12 final. Damn.

St. Kat's rebounded the following night to only lose 124-51 to Utah.

I thought I read somewhere that this season is St.Kat's 1st. Playing SDSU and Utah will certainly help their case as I doubt many of their opponents after this past weekend will ever make it to National TV(Pac-12 Net).

Kansas 93-83. Too much height, UT being outrebounded 44-28, and the Jayhawks frontcourt duo of Embiid and Ellis going off for 35 points ad 21 boards. Good showing for the Rockets, and now they need to go out and take care of business in the MAC.

Yeah crazy that right after they played SDSU they got on a plane to go to Utah.

I agree thought pretty great for them to get that exposure in their first year.
  • reclegend22
I don't really subscribe to that theory. For teams that are actually capable of not getting embarrassed and at least feigning competitiveness, the exposure of playing at a big-time venue is probably pretty positive, even in a 20 or 30-point loss. But nowhere is a kid watching TV and saying, "I want to be a Firebird," after watching St. Kat's get beat by 80 by a West Coast Conference team.

It's about the school getting money. Which isn't all that bad, I guess. But it's demoralizing for team itself. JMO.
