College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Great day for the b1g. Illinois, Michigan, Michigan St, ohio st all winners

Jerian Grant done at Notre Dame for the year. Academic issues. Ouch.
  • Azubuike24
Marquette probably loses 12+ and Notre Dame may not even finish .500.
  • reclegend22
Definitely bad news for Notre Dame. Grant's all they had, and even with him they were only slightly better than appalling. Mike Brey's worst team in years, maybe ever.

Ya, keeping talking up UK's great win over Belmont and slamming all of OSU's wins. Seems right.

I don't think anyone is claiming Marquette or ND are great teams. By the same logic UK some are criticizing OSU for UK probably shouldn't be ranked. 3 losses and all of their wins are arguably over worse teams than OSU has wins over.

I don't get the focus on OOC schedules this year like it's football. It's not, we have a whole conference season to go through.

UK's got nothing to brag about yet, so I too would keep the muzzle on. Now Duke and Kansas, that's an entirely different story.

Lol you have such sour grapes right now
  • Azubuike24
I don't think they can claim great wins, although Boise State and Belmont are probably equal to Marquette and Notre Dame.

That's not the point I've been making. Not sure why people are comparing the two. It's not like UK is ranked top 5 and their 3 losses have been forgiven.

Things will change when OSU enters B1G play. They will get at least 6-8 chances to face top 25 teams...UK won't. Again though, that's not the debate.

The debate was disproving the certain individual who was claiming those were decent wins. They simply aren't...

After watching Hawaii once earlier this year and again the last couple of days in the Diamond Head Classic, the Rainbow Warriors could have the makings of a darling if they reach the NCAA Tournament. Nearly brought down Boise State last night (losing by one) and knocked off Saint Mary's tonight on a buzzer beater by Christian Standhardinger.

Standhardinger is one of the best players most people have never heard of. A hidden gem. Hawaii is really, really good, and puts up the sixth most points per game nationally.

After reading a recap of the game, I didn't realize that Standhardinger had considered La Salle after leaving Nebraska. I thought he just went back to Hawaii as a first choice. There was some complication that didn't work out or something.

Imagine just how good the Explorers could've been last year had Standhardinger played alongside Tyreke Duren, Ramon Galloway and Tyrone Garland. That team would've had the talent to make a run at the Final Four...

Hawaii is pretty fun to watch. They turn it over too much but they make tough shots and hit their free throws. I think they're gaining more and more confidence.

Hawaii playing very well again today.
  • reclegend22
Yeah, the Rainbow Warriors had a really nice showing at the Diamond Head. As alluded to by Midstate, their uptempo pace leads to erratic play at times, but overall Hawaii has a nice team that seemed to blossom over the past week. Might be a team to watch out for.

Gonna have to get down to the SSC to watch more games. Fun place to watch womens vball games as its sold out like every game (led nation in attendance for like 18 straight years) but bball games aren't nearly as packed so its pretty boring. About like games at aloha stadium. But hopefully some winning will help bring more folks out.

McGary elects to have back surgery. This almost definitely puts him out for the year...
  • reclegend22
That solidifies McGary's decision to return to school as one of the worst ever. He has to be sick. Can't say I am upset for him.

I feel bad for the guy. I never blame a player for wanting to stay in school. It was a bad decision though, and I said that when he decided to stay. Probably one that costs him millions of dollars.

    This.

    Good God, Randle

    Wow, Russ Smith.
  • Azubuike24
That was nuts by Smith. Like Nantz said...who even knew he could do that?

Syracuse smokes Nova after being down 18 in the first half. I'd say they are legit but they really haven't played anyone yet.

I just don't like the guy (based on things he said during his recruitment).

But I certainly don't blame the kid for coming back to school. I think it's great that he and Marcus Smart did. It's obviously a decision that is going to cost him dearly personally, but hindsight obviously makes everything clearer.

Not sure if there is some hidden message there in relation to the previous conversation about legit teams, but I'd call Nova someone. I think the Wildcats are a legitimate Top 20 team. I didn't get to watch the game today as Duke was playing in the same time slot, but Nova has impressed me in the times I've seen them. Finishing the job in the Carrier Dome is a tall task.

After re-reading some of the posts by CBF, lol. Nevermind.
