College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Laley23How many minutes did Vonleh end up with??? 3???
God that was horrible. Called for a foul on a pick and roll and then for backing a man down???
I guess you cant complain when you commit 20 turnovers and your best player (maybe Yogi) plays 5 total minute with fouls and still only lose by 1. Napier with the game of his fucking life, shooting the ball. -
reclegend22Tulsa at Creighton is on Fox Sports Southwest right now, if anyone is craving some Top 25 basketball today. Other than that, kind of a quiet day.
-
Azubuike24Miami University loses to Wilmington. Haha.
The worst FBS football team and now getting beat by a D-III school at home. -
ts1227Yeah Miami basically just sucks at life this year
-
reclegend22Frank Kaminsky put up another great performance tonight. The seven-footer went for 21 points and 6 rebounds in addition to a pair of triples. He plays a lot on the perimeter, but possesses some very good moves when scoring out of the pivot and can work either role effectively. Also a decent shot blocker on the other end.
After watching Kaminsky several times now, there is not a more improved player nationally. He's playing himself right into the NBA, and with almost two full years left at Wisconsin, could end up as Bo Ryan's most talented player ever. Really, really impressed. He's gone from complete unknown to the Badgers' go-to guy. -
Laley23He will not be Bo Ryans most talented player ever.
And he isnt an unknown to Hoosier fans, sadly... -
reclegend22I mean, you know him (as an avid Big Ten follower) and I know him (as a big Bo Ryan fan who watches Wisconsin more than any team but Duke most years), but the rest of the college basketball world had little idea. Kaminsky averaged barely 10 minutes a game last season and 4 points.
As for Ryan's most talented player, maybe not. When you withdraw Devin Harris from the running (a Dick Bennett recruit), the debate might get more interesting after Kaminsky's senior season. Regardless of that, Kaminsky is already showing signs that he could be turning into one of the school's all-time greats if he continues to develop his game. That size can't be taught and especially not the fluidity with which he plays it. Kaminsky is super smooth for a seven-foot college player.
Fun kid to watch. -
Azubuike24Sam Dekker is their most talented player. Sure, the guy is white and doesn't look all that fierce, but he's got the complete package. Not usually the kid Ryan gets.
If he continues to get better, that's the best 1/2 punch in the Big Ten. Is the rest of their cast (PG position, depth) good enough? We'll see. I like Wisky better than Ohio State though, at least going into March. Unless Ohio State shows better offensively. -

Now if he could only put up the stats to show it..Azubuike24;1542065 wrote:Sam Dekker is their most talented player. . -

There is no way that Dekker and Kaminsky is better than Harris and Appling...or Payne. Im not even sure I would say it is better than Yogi and Vonleh.Azubuike24;1542065 wrote:Sam Dekker is their most talented player. Yeah. Dekker might have the better overall package (I'd agree with this), but Kaminsky has been Wisconsin's most efficient player and the team's primary option over the past four games. It looks like a trend more than a fluke to me. At his size, he's the perfect focal point of Ryan's attack. He has really developed his game and could make an All-Big Ten team.SportsAndLady;1542066 wrote:Now if he could only put up the stats to show it..
Now, inevitably, Dekker will start to get his as well and, when that happens, Wisconsin will be extremely dangerous with all of their size and shooting. -
Azubuike24
I disagree. However, 3-8, Wisconsin doesn't match MSU, UM or OSU, possibly IU and Iowa.Laley23;1542074 wrote:There is no way that Dekker and Kaminsky is better than Harris and Appling...or Payne. Im not even sure I would say it is better than Yogi and Vonleh.
Production-wise though, if Kaminsky puts up these numbers and Dekker does what's expected, they will be right there or exceed what those other duos do. -
GOONx19Georgetown turns around at beats VCU by 4.
-
se-alumI'd take any combination of Appling, Harris, and Payne over Dekker & Kaminisky. Azu, you're using a lot of "ifs", when the MSU guys are already doing it.
-
se-alumOf course Duke gets bailed out.

Holy Moses that's bad. When I was at Wilmington they played Wright St and lost something like 113-65 (Wright St was pretty good then but still....it's Wilmington)Azubuike24;1541809 wrote:Miami University loses to Wilmington. Haha.

MulvaCleveland State up on UK at half.
-
reclegend22Cleveland State on top of Kentucky 44 to 33 right now in the second half.
All these close games involving top ten teams and subpar mid-majors early on this year are just a reality of the current college basketball product we have and will only become more the norm. As we've discussed here before, the one-and-done landscape has really opened things up for the smaller schools, who in many cases are no longer the less experienced team when they travel to places like Cameron Indoor Stadium, Rupp Arena or the Dean Smith Center. -
Azubuike24Getting booed out of the building.
-
Azubuike24No sync and lots of lazy players tonight.
This is the kind of game where you need a player like Randle or Young just to take over and win. Reminds me a lot of the Miami Ohio game in 2009. Nobody showed up, UK trailed 8-12 all game until John Wall just decided they weren't going to lose. -
reclegend22I remember watching that game. Miami, if I remember correctly, made a record number of threes that night. Charlie Coles was priceless in the presser afterward.
-
Azubuike24Huge triple by Poythress there off an offensive rebound. UK going to go on a big run here, got a feeling.
