College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Just looked up the money quote.

Upon a reporter asking how the Redhawks let the game slip away, Charlie Coles replied: "All I'm hearing is they've got four [NBA] draft choices and you're asking me how it got away from you?" Coles said. "We came up with a brilliant effort."

CSU goes on a 5-0 run before the under 8 timeout.

    Getting to crunch time.
  • GOONx19
I think Kentucky is gonna lose this one.
  • Azubuike24
Sure has that feel, doesn't it? Every glimpse of momentum and they hit a big shot.
  • reclegend22
On the bright side for UK, crunch time is typically when the Cleveland States of the world start to play not to lose.

The Wildcat pressure is starting to amp up.
  • Azubuike24
Smart move by Waters there. That was a 10-second call waiting for the building to erupt.
  • reclegend22
Two straight possessions now that UK has forced a turnover. If this game ends up tied, the Vikings are toast.
  • Azubuike24
That was a STRONG move by Andrew Harrison. That might be the game-changer.
  • Azubuike24
Harrison twins winning the game late. Stone cold shots.
  • GOONx19
Well. UK just needs to play smart and they just squeak out the win.
  • Azubuike24
The fact that Cauley-Stein can guard the PG is huge. It's really hard for a small shooter to get it off over him.
  • Laley23
I watched the last 7 minutes of this game.

Cleveland State is terrible. How the fuck was this even a game???

UK with the official aided win over CSU.

    Haha, don't know about that.

CSU hacked their way pretty well in the first half.

Laley, basically it was just one of those half asleep games, settling for lazy shots and such until about 8 minutes left.

I'm not mad about it, happens all the time. The big time teams get the calls, see Duke last night. Obvious non-foul got Duke to the line for the game winning free throw.

I'm not really sure what calls were favorable to UK. It was pretty even, pretty typical of a 2013-14 game thus far. Half the fouls hand checks.

Basically, CSU (like Rec predicted) tried to run away and hide for a win and just didn't have enough. They were without their PG. They hit some miracle shots and kept answering.

I really like this Arizona State team. Carson, Marshall, and Bachynski is quite the trio.

Gotta wonder how Marquette is still ranked.

    Marquette/Arizona State
    Stanford/Houston
    Maryland/Providence
    Dayton/Gonzaga

    Some really good games tonight.

Stanford/Houston might end up over 200.

28 fouls to 17, and sure they called the new hand check rule on CSU, but it was rarely called on Kentucky. Like se-alum said, exactly what you'd expect when a high major plays a mid-major at home. CSU played pretty well for most of the game to push open a 10 point lead. The referees helped pushed the momentum back in Kentucky's favor and got the crowd into it and CSU wilted down the stretch a little. Good effort for the Vikings and a learning experience early in the season. Hopefully this will show them that they can play with anyone since they do have a talented core of sophomores starting to put it all together.

28 fouls to 17, but look at the shot attempts inside of 5 feet. CSU shot only about 1/4 of their shots inside of 8-10 feet.

Randle also is going to basically get to the line 10 times or more every night. He's got some major flaws with vision out of the post but he's going to draw a ton of fouls, especially with guards reaching in and slapping.
  • DTM04
Well Randle got his 11 and the rest of the team got 24 more. CSU shot 15 threes to UK's 14 threes and the shot chart seems to indicate CSU took a majority of their shots from 12 feet and in. CSU played pretty well for 35 minutes, a shame they couldn't finish it out.

This Varidel kid is killing it for Chaminade. 26 points already with 5 and a half left in the first vs Baylor
  • reclegend22
The Silverswords are 10-of-24 from beyond the arc as a team in the first half and will probably hit one or two more.

An excellent shooting exhibition all around.
  • wildcats20
Didn't realize Varidel was the guy from Florida Gulf Coast. Nice.
