I hope the Big Ten offers FAU. Hit them where it hurts.

Get used to it? We are at 14 teams, 16 is about as manageable as you can get. I don't want a 32 team conference.

I'm really shocked that they turned Missouri away. I think they'd be a better fit than Buttgers or Maryland. I think that was an example of them putting cash ahead of everything else.

From some of what I've read, they possibly won't stop at 16.

So the plan is to expand to 20ish and have a full schedule of your division (play everyone) and have the two winners play in the Conference championship game so we're essentially left with "two" conferences who happen to have a private bowl game between their winners?

lol this. 16 is probably the max I'd want. You go to a 3 game non conference schedule. Play everyone in your division(7 games) and 2 rotating crossovers from the other division.

Honestly if they go to 20, they won't even bother with separate divisions. They will go to a 9 game conference schedule; 2(or 1) fixed rival(s) per team that they play every year and a rotating schedule against 7(8) teams.

I have no idea what the plan is. I am not the commish.

Not saying I do either. I don't even like 14 or 16. I like many smaller conferences.

I wasn't directly soliciting a response from you. I was quoting you as the base for my post concerning moving past 16, which already is getting too large to manage for football in my opinion.

    And I agree with that.

I think they'll try to get to 20. I have no basis for that. Just my opinion.

Larry Fedora has recruited well in his first two years at UNC. They would have been in the ACC title game (not saying much) if they weren't sanctioned. Great? No, but I see them in the same tier as Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Michigan State.

If NC goes, I wonder if UVA will go with them?

Yeah, it's at best a sidewise move for football, at least for now, but both schools would be a perfect fit for the Big Ten in every other measure. I don't see us ever becoming the SEC equals in football - better to establish our own products and profile.

UVA makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't mind having UVA in the B1G.

I think a solid play at Vanderbilt is worth considering as well.

Lets go back to where the conferences were in 2003 please

Why would Vanderbilt leave the SEC?

Because let's face it, the SEC is becoming synonymous with academic standards that even community colleges are starting to laugh at. Vanderbilt isn't good at sports, but they are an academic powerhouse so they fit in nicely with every B1G school not named Nebraska.

    Wat?

Michigan State maybe. Not Wisconsin and Nebraska.

UNC has lost at least 5+ games 14 out of the last 15 seasons. Sparty 11 of 15. Wisconsin 5 times in 15 years. Nebraska only 4 times, with 3 of those under the Callahan Catastrophe. Nebraska's "down" years the last decade are still much better than UNC has probably ever achieved.

You're right. I meant going forward I think they could be. UNC has shot themselves in the foot in recent years with getting their best talent suspended. With the way Fedora has started off his career there I think he could get them to that tier permitting he stays. Some SEC teams were already courting him for their openings..

From an article I read a few years ago before most of this even started happening it stated we would end up with 4 16 team super conferences. He also said these super conferences would eventually split off from the NCAA.

    Makes sense, AKA Conference USA.

According to WVU sources, Bigger 10 was actually a consideration.
