  I agree, though Coach K let it be known that he was concerned about the ACC.

  It doesn't rebut my point that he is a fool if getting some sort of revenge on ND is a motivating factor in his decisions. If he is making decisions based on the best interest of the conference and it's members then he is not worried about trying to stick it to some other school. All you said was he wouldn't be out because it was making the B1G some money. If a conference commissioner is letting his personal distaste for another school leak into his decision-making then he is a fool.

  Yeah, I heard the comments K made yesterday. But that's partly my point. Duke and North Carolina, especially while K and Roy are at the virtual helms of those schools, are never leaving the ACC. There is just too much history there. I'm not saying K and Roy are bigger than the institutions they represent, which they are (lol ... well, not really, but they are the faces of them), but I don't think they'd allow it without an extraordinary fight. These two guys are beyond powerful.

  No they aren't. If UNC wants to make the move, they don't give a damn about Roy.

  A fool that is going to earn every school 43 million per year off of tv revenue. Taking out a competitor isn't being a fool, its good business.

  Delany is a former UNC captain. If he thinks he can get UNC, its more than just wishful thinking. I don't think that is a school that would be the strongest rumor of there wasnt some truth to it. He probably wants his alma mater.

  So Delany getting some ACC schools to defect to the B1G is "taking out" ND? I don't see that happening. And I stand by my statement that if that plays a part in his decisions....that's foolish.
  
  If things got that bad in the ACC....ND could buy out of their deal with them and I'm sure there would be another conference ready to deal with ND. You're talking about Delany making money and that will keep him where he's at....let's be honest, regardless about how you feel about Notre Dame...you cannot deny that they are a big money maker and any conference would be thrilled to have them. That's not arrogance, that's the truth. They'll be fine regardless of what happens between the B1G and ACC.
  
  Anyways, I don't think that is factoring into Delany's decisions at all. I'll give him a little more credit than that.

  Hate to disagree with you rec, but if (key word) UNC fears the ACC may crumble, and the B1G comes knocking, I doubt they'd say no because of their tradition with Duke.

  He's also a 60ish year old Baby Boomer, you know the people that have driven our economy and society to a near collapse. Maybe UNC is part of the equation, maybe not.
  
  What I do know is that all of these moves are based on a very short-sighted (pretty much the adjective that defines the Baby Boomer generation) bet that the short-term cable revenue will hold up. I'm not a fortune-teller, and have no idea how we will get our real-time broadcast feeds 10 years from now, but I do know that basic (and pay) cable will likely go the way of the dodo. Just because the B1G network now is profitable doesn't mean it will be a few years from now.

  What does ND do revenue wise with basketball? I'm sure the football program is a money maker, but the conferences aren't getting the football program, so are the other sports making money for ND and the conference they are in?

  Well as long as the B1G doesn't replicate the business strategies of Blockbuster, they'll find a way to adapt and continue to bring in revenue.

  Agree. The medium used to deliver the product is irrelevent really. Cable companies aren't going away, it just may not be delivered on a wire cable. Even if everything moves to the internet, there still needs to be a company to serve up the content, and the demand for the product isn't going to vanish.

  The conference has a deal with ND and probably feels that IF Notre Dame were going to join a conference in football...this would give them a leg up on other conferences. As others have stated, football is the driving force behind conference realignment. I don't know all of the figures for every sport but I do know that ND has several other successful athletic programs as well. Also, having the Notre Dame "brand" affiliated with your conference probably doesn't hurt either.

  I think it's HILARIOUS that Notre Dame, essentially, "joined" the ACC and the Big Ten is poaching the ACC. I love it.

  ND will get the same TV revenue for basketball that other ACC schools get. I don't recall the exact amount but there is basketball money and football money in their TV contracts.

  I find it hilarious the B1G's football reputation is the lowest its ever been and they just added Maryland and a team from a conference that has been ripped on here as being MAC level and non deserving of a BCS bid.
  
  Also amusing, an undefeated Ohio State is playing Michigan this week and the B1G chooses now to invite those schools to keep the conference from being shuffled to the back of conversation nationally.

  So, ND football gets paid on the ACC football contract as well or is ND football totally separate and only receiving money for their NBC deal?
