You're right, I can't prove that OK ST is better than Alabama. But I can prove that LSU is better than Alabama because they already played. #sleeperwinslhslep134;1002788 wrote:Prove otherwise

That is why LSU is #1 and Alabama is #2. Would you rather just hand the trophy over to LSU and skip the game since we already know that #1 is better than #2? You should consider pushing this idea, imagine the could have beens for OSU if that were the system.sleeper;1002811 wrote:You're right, I can't prove that OK ST is better than Alabama. No we should give another team a chance that has won the best conference in college football and hasn't had a chance to beat the alleged #1 team in the country.enigmaax;1002819 wrote:That is why LSU is #1 and Alabama is #2. I don't understand why this logic is so hard to understand. Amazing how SEC fans have changed their opinion regarding a rematch given what happened in 2006. It's fraud that this is even a debate. -

The team that won the best conference IS playing in the game, silly. So is the team that is second in the best conference and better than any other conference champ. Hence, the "#2".sleeper;1002826 wrote:No we should give another team a chance that has won the best conference in college football and hasn't had a chance to beat the alleged #1 team in the country.

It doesn't take a change in opinion about 2006 to want Alabama in the title game. Michigan didn't get left out because nobody wanted a rematch, they got left out because they weren't better than Florida. Why do you keep harping on 2006 when all it does is demonstrate the importance of getting it right, which is what the BCS did yet again this year? -

How does it feel to root for a stepping stone program? How does 6-6 feel? I always called Florida Flash-in-the-Pan U, and they have now granted truth to that moniker. How does it feel to have your best coach in history leave for a world class program? Enjoy rooting for the SEC, because Florida will never win anything ever again. This matchup is just a reflection of the weakness within the BCS system. I wish something could be done to get some sort of playoff, even if it were just between 4 teams.
I remember the season where the #1 Buckeyes beat #2 Michigan, and there was a good chance that there could be a rematch in the NC.....oh, the whining from the SEC! And with good reason. Funny, they don't seem to have a problem with this year's matchup though.
The same logic that was screamed from the rooftops in '06 should apply now as well. Bama had their shot at #1, at home, and they blew it. They might be the 2nd best team, but they don't deserve a NC shot. Boycott the game and don't watch.Writerbuckeye;1002294 wrote:If there wasn't going to be a rematch in 2006, there shouldn't be one now. Somehow that logic has now gone by the wayside since two SEC teams are involved.
Shameful.

3. Well, considering he left for health reasons and then had a great opportunity come up a year later, I feel like I hope he has better balance to maintain his health/family life and I feel like I hope he puts himself in that very small class of coaches who has won a title at two schools. The pressure to build on his own success at Florida was never going to outweigh the reward, even if he had won more titles. He needed a new challenge and he's set up pretty well.
When the SEC wins, I guarantee you feel much, much worse about it than I feel good.
Yes, the 2nd could get ugly. Florida has one of the worst offenses I've seen in my life of watching football at virtually any level and a lot of it has to do with the horrible OC they hired. The sun will come up the next day for me, unlike the five years of darkness under which Buckeye fans have lived since the last time OSU and Florida played a football game. -

Bingo!!!! Or better yet BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!! lost to freaking Iowa State. Why on earth would they get a shot over another one loss team whose only loss came by 3 to #1.WebFire;1002506 wrote:My only problem with this is that you punish a school for playing a #1 team, that happens to be in their league (and division in this case), but not other teams for losing a game.
If all things are equal, except Alabama loses to #1 LSU, and Ok. State loses to Iowa State, why Ok. State deserve to play in the NCG?
You can't beat that argument. If BAMA and LSU didn't play and BAMA's one loss was to a bottom feeder SEC team then you hav an argument. But it's not so you don't. Now get over it and get your popcorn ready cuz you're gonna see some real football. Not little 10 ball. Real ball. -

And thats just it, its YOUR OPINION. Which really doesn't matter. Would I pick Bama or LSU over OSU? Absolutely. BUT, on any given day, anything has and can happen. Bama HAD their SHOT at #1 LSU, playing on their HOME turf! IMO, someone else, deserves a chance. And if you look at both resume's, OSU has beaten more top 25 games. Yes, a "somewhat bad loss". But again, Bama lost AT home.lhslep134;1002609 wrote:And for everyone asking what makes Alabama the #2 team: look at their roster! IMO there's no way in hell OSU would beat Alabama head to head.

So it is what it is. And unless Ohio State has a basketball game that nite, I will be watching this game. -

So Houston should have a legit claim to play in the title game, correct? You have to be consistent; if you're not going to look at who a team beat, but rather who their one loss was to...Houston should be in the discussion for the championship game along with Bama and Okie State.I Am Ahab;1002920 wrote:Bingo!!!! Sorry, but the whole "OSU lost to Iowa freaking State!!!!" argument is awful. Somewhere along the lines you beat enough good teams to justify the 1 loss to a poor team (though a bowl eligible team).
Team A beats 10 patsies, and loses to the #1 ranked team in the country.
Team B beats 5 good teams, 5 patsies, and loses to a 6-6 team.
Who has the better resume'? My high school team could beat 10 patsies and lose to the #1 ranked team in the country. -

That's awesome lol"If we don't get in the BCS [title game], if I have the power to do it, I'm going to have an investigation," Oklahoma State mega-booster T. Boone Pickens said after Saturday night's game. "After the way we handled OU tonight, I just can't imagine LSU playing Alabama twice. It looks like an SEC-closed system if that happens."

How many hours have you put into arguing that the SEC isn't the best conference just because you lost a couple of title games to SEC teams? When you can't even enjoy your little regional championships because of a loss five years ago, that is a pretty dark time. When you sell your soul for a coach (I'm not the one who trashed your new head coach all this time), you've conceded your desperation. -

Touched on this in my other response, but there are some (sleeper being one and that is who I was responding to) who have allowed this anti-SEC obsession to consume them so much that they haven't enjoyed much of OSU's success. When you spend more time chasing ghosts (in this case, national perception) than enjoying your own success, um, yes, that is a pretty dark existence.SportsAndLady;1002960 wrote:Come on enig, you're better than that...that's a pretty dumb statement. sherm03People need to stop comparing this to 06. Yes, Alabama lost to LSU...but they dropped in the rankings when they did. When OSU beat Michigan, it was the last game of the season for both. Alabama benefitted from having alot of season left, where other contenders could drop games and lose their shot. Had Alabama played LSU in the last game of the regular season and lost, they would not be in the title game right now.
This is a different situation than 06...so stop trying to compare the two. -
