They didn't even win their division! Back to the subject:HitsRus;1002287 wrote:I don't know if I'll watch or not, but I'm a firm believer in you don't deserve the NC if you can't even win your conference. This matchup is just a reflection of the weakness within the BCS system. I wish something could be done to get some sort of playoff, even if it were just between 4 teams.
I remember the season where the #1 Buckeyes beat #2 Michigan, and there was a good chance that there could be a rematch in the NC.....oh, the whining from the SEC! And with good reason. Funny, they don't seem to have a problem with this year's matchup though.
1) There is about a 1% chance I'll watch the game, granted I have to take off work and be at a bar at 9:00 a.m., but I'll do that with OSU-Florida.
2) It wouldn't surprise me if this is the worst tv-rated BCS championship game. You have a "small state" school that doesn't have much of fanbase outside of it (despite how rabid the fanbase is in-state) and a somewhat larger state but an even larger non-state contingent. -

I hate the system and have forever. But it's a championship game and in football nonetheless. I would watch the womens volleyball championship bc it's a championship game (and for the booty shorts).
Ill bet most of you who say you aren't watching will tune in.
I don't mind watching a defensive battle even though I think the fact that these two are so familiar will allow both of them to score some more points. Heck, 'BAMA moved the ball last time. They just didn't score. IMO the Tide was the better team and I'm interested to see if they can actually convert drives into points this time.
I don't think a Saban team will fail to not score while successfully moving the ball. Think the mistakes won't be there this time and the game is a little higher scoring.

For a regular season CBS game. Not ABC. And how many people will watch the repeat? I'll admit I stood in line and watched Indiana Jones 4 for the opening Friday night, you'd have to place a gun to my head before I'd even think about watching Indiana Jones 5.cats gone wild;1002310 wrote:Yet, this game broke viewer records in Nov. -

It was a regular season game. People like watching championships, and more people watch championships that dont care for sports on those nights. Having it on a weekday might hurt them.Manhattan Buckeye;1002317 wrote:For a regular season CBS game. Not ABC. And how many people will watch the repeat? People don't like watching BS championships. I would much rather watch Stanford-Okie St. or Oregon-Wisky. I don't give the first crap about LSU or Alabama, or who wins. They might as well just show the game in New Orleans and Birmingham because the rest of the country doesn't care.cats gone wild;1002319 wrote:It was a regular season game. Cool. Stop complaining about how you won't watch it. Everyone knows. No one cares. -

I'm not complaining Irish boy. I'm just saying it sucks. It should be called the Honey Badger Bowl, because no one gives a shit.karen lotz;1002325 wrote:Cool. Stop complaining about how you won't watch it. Everyone knows. No one cares. -

i'm sure you would have wanted that rematch. actually pitting your buckeyes against a opponent they could beat, saving them from that emabarrassing loss on a national stage. did UM get blasted by USC in the rose bowl? so much for experts opinions. maybe that is why there was no rematch, wouldnt want a team unworthy of the championship wearing the crown.Writerbuckeye;1002294 wrote:If there wasn't going to be a rematch in 2006, there shouldn't be one now. Back then, all the experts said OSU and UM were 1 and 2 going into the last game of the season...but the pollsters felt it was wrong to give UM a second bite at the apple.
Somehow that logic has now gone by the wayside since two SEC teams are involved.
Shameful.
And no, I won't be watching. Why bother? -

You are saying it sucks, but not complaining? ok... -

You have some very thin skin. If you call me Buckeye boy I take it as a compliment.
If you really have a problem with it, PM me. Seriously, you actually considered that name-calling? -

No, I don't have a problem with it at all. I was joking. Thanks for the compliment though. -

Well your team is going to the Champs Sports Bowl, so you have that going for you. It is actually funny that in Ohio St's worst season since Cooper that they get a better bowl bid.karen lotz;1002366 wrote:No, I don't have a problem with it at all. I was joking. Thanks for the compliment though. -

Sick burn. Ohio State travels better than Purdue, Northwestern, and Iowa (also known as "teams that finished higher than OSU in the BIG). Penn State was "untouchable" by the better bowls for obvious reasons. Its not a surprise at all that Ohio State is playing in a better bowl than their resume would indicate.Manhattan Buckeye;1002368 wrote:Well your team is going to the Champs Sports Bowl, so you have that going for you. I'll also take this as a sign that you have given up with your "SEC teams playing games instead of having byes is lame" argument? -
I Am AhabJust something for the whiniest fan base in sports to cry about. Good point for whoever said they would have had no prob w a OSU UM rematch and they'd have used it as a bragging point for how bad*$$ the little 10 is.
You got clobbered by two great SEC teams in the NC. Get over it. The two best teams are playing for the title.
OSU fans calling anything over rated is the irony of all ironies. They have won one NC in my lifetime despite how many head starts by being ranked #1 at the start of the season and playing in a very mediocre conference.
Just a piece of advice. Keep your whining and moaning to this site where you are amongst yourselves. At least then no one else will know what a bunch of little girls the mighty Buckeyes actually are. -

When the NCAA allowed teams to schedule 12 regular season games, the schedules were already set for the next two years. Teams scrambled to add another non-conference game anywhere they could. All conferences did it. But the SEC had been playing cupcakes late for years. They like to play confernce games early. It gives them marqee match ups in prime time while everyone else is playing at noon and 3:30. I think South Carolina played Georgia in week two this year, as did Auburn and Mississippi State. Florida and Tennessee played in week three.karen lotz;1002086 wrote:South Carolina and Florida really padded their schedules like that. Ohio State and other big ten teams have played ooc games after big ten games have started in the past I believe. -
