Random B1G Chatter - Season Long Thread

I know Wisky is tough at home, but I thought they were a little vulnerable this year so thought maybe IU could steal one.

I think Indiana is pretty clearly the better team on a neutral court. Tough to win in Madison though.

He did the same thing to me last year when I predicted Oakland (w/ their 2 NBA players) to beat OSU...got on here after the gmae was over and was like "OMG what an idiot, you really expected Ohio State to lose to Oakland?!?! Do you know when the last time OSU lost to an OOC opponent at home from a non-big conference" uhhh ya, cbf, I know...it was a risky prediction.

    **** I hate that guy
Oakland over OSU was LAUGHABLE..especially at OSU. Comical.

PS- I dont' like ur little punk ass either. ;)

They are vulnerable, no question. But again, IU has come down to earth and not playing well right now. Wisconsin is playing pretty decent now. Then on home court. All I said, yes after, was I thought that was an easy pick. Just opinion. Then everyone gets their panties in an uproar.

Predicting an upset requires an "easy" pick and requires going against it.

Getting on somebody for being wrong on an upset prediction is incredibly lame.
Getting on somebody? LOL You sure have thin skin. Its more of you being oversensitive like some little bitch than anything, as usual. As soon as someone questions you, you go off like some little bitch. Of course, you can than dish it out.

Really!! IU has proven itself to be a monster at home, but less than that without the home crowd to give them an edge. I'd take Wisky and the leadership of Jordan Taylor.

Indiana and Iowa just put on a defensive clinic. Some of the best defense I've seen in college basketball in quite sometime.

Saw that score, wow. 103-89? Certainly not ur typical Big Ten game!

Wouldn't be terribly surprised if the Gophers end up around 8-10 or 7-11 in the league this year ... which would be pretty decent considering they started 0-4.
Lookin good on this prediction so far. Nice OT win over Illinois, the Gophers could really jump start their season with their next two on the road, but winnable (@ Iowa, @ Nebraska). Win those and get over .500, 5 out of their last 7 games are at home (albeit against tougher competition). There's an outside shot at tournament there.

After Almost 200 were up up this weekend, MSU and Ilinois are struggling to get to a combined 80. Brutal.
  • Tiger2003
Is the audio weird for anyone else? I can barely hear the Illinois crowd.
  • chicago510
Also Draymond Green hurt his knee. If that is anything remotely serious MSU is in trouble.
  • Tiger2003
Why couldn't Paul shoot like this vs the Buckeyes!!
  • chicago510
Appling is 1/10. MSU is shooting 24%. Game is in Champaign. And MSU has the ball with a chance to win with 8 seconds left.

    LOL
  • chicago510
Buckeyes take first place by a full game.
  • Tiger2003
Buckeyes are now sitting alone at the top of the Big Ten.

Apparently the two games last night were designed to make up for the offensive explosion in that Indiana-Iowa game.
  • WebFire
    Nice win for Michigan tonight.
  • vball10set
Good win, Webbie--in the B1G (especially this year) you gotta' win at home and split on the road, or else you'll be at the bottom looking up.

Minnesota loses to Iowa. They've got 5 games left against OSU, MSU, Indiana, and Wisconsin, so plenty of statement chances left, but they're a serious longshot at this point for the NCAA.

Yeah, they have a lot of home games left (@NW, @Neb, @Wisc, home against OSU, MSU, Ind, Neb, Wisc) so I'm not ready to close the door on them yet. But they sure don't have any wiggle room left.

Not a single OOC win over a top 50 team outside of the league (2 total). Bucknell, South Dakota State, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Northwestern and Illinois are their only top 100 wins.

Compare that to just Illinois (4 top 50 wins), Indiana (5 top 50 wins), Michigan (7 top 50 wins) and Purdue (4 top 50 wins) and I just don't see how Minnesota can compete with those resumes. And these are all bubble teams from the same conference...

Their RPI is (or was) pretty good. And they'd have to have a great end to the season, no doubt, which would give them some additional leverage- think wins over Wisconsin, MSU, Indiana at home, 2 wins over Nebraska to finish 21-10 (9-9). I'm not saying it's probable, just saying I'm not ready to shut the door on them yet. The B1G is wacky this year and it seems like home teams have been pulling more upsets than usual. No doubt though, without Mbakwe this team is proving to be mediocre at best in this league.

I know the B1G announcers were saying that they'd be in a good spot as far as being in the discussion if they won last night, but that loss has to hurt them a lot. When you're in the "on the bubble" zone, whether it's home or road, you HAVE to beat the weak links in the conference. And they should have won last night, but they didn't put them away and the Hawkeyes came back late.
