Random B1G Chatter - Season Long Thread

If Ted Valentine never referees another IU game, it will be too soon. Those 2 fouls on Zeller were awful, then the overrule on the ball knocked out of Elstons hands...

    Goodness.
  • Laley23
 for Tom Crean tonight. How is Zeller sitting on the bench so long? I dont care that he had 4 fouls. Cost IU 3 offensive rebounds at the end. Got to have him in after the under 4 TO. What is the point of waiting until a minute to go?
  • SportsAndLady
I don't know names or anything...but after the 'Sconsin PG put up that 3 with 30 seconds or so left, up 3, and missed...there was a blatant push on the offensive rebound (pushed Zeller)...I'm not even an IU fan and I was screaming for that call lol sure that pissed you off Laley

Even the announcer was like Uhhh, ya he blatantly pushed Zeller

Yeah, that was a bad no call. Would have changed the ending no doubt. But on the road...kind of expect it.

What would have kept them from that situation? Crean not having Zeller on the bench for Pritchard/Elston and have their men get 3 offensive rebounds. Crean had a horribly coached second half, it was really bad. I was yelling at him the whole time. Not taking timeouts, bad subs, Zeller on the bench WAY to long. Remy Abel coming in for 2 minutes with 3 minutes to go and down 1 (hadnt played in the last 3 games). It was just really bad.

But like you said, the throw down would have been a nice call to get at the end.

oh, and this was about as perfect as I have ever been evaluating my team before a game lol.

They found their defense, and had a shot at the upset. They matched up really well with Wisconsin on both end. They just arent playing that well right now, and lost by 7.

Yes, I am panhandling for reps.

Just not alot of leadership or confidence right now on this team to win games on the road. Has it become a self professing prophecy?
I wonder if the players catch any sort of vibe from the coaches on road games. Players can most def feed off the negative, and positive, energy from coaches and I have to wonder why they cannot win on the road.

In years past, yeah, they were just outmanned but even at that you would expect them to be able to pull a few upsets on the road.

Very disappointing. I liked how they attacked the rim a bit more instead of relying on the 3 and the defense was solid. Just comes down to this team doesnt have the leadership to be tough late in games on the road, where you need it most. It is easier at home when everyone is behind ya. The really dont have a go-to guy they can look for in those instances that just wont let the team lose. Watford needs to be that guy and he just isnt consistant enough. Zeller may get to that point later on but it is harder for a big man underneath to be 'that guy' because he needsd others to get him the ball.

I still have IU finishing i think 25-10 and losing in the second round of the NCAA

Crazy? How about stupid. IU hasnt' been playing well. And Wisconsin is getting back on track. Add in that Wisconsin has already lost 2 home games this year, there was no way I would have picked IU in this game.

Haha, there's the cbf we all know and love.

AFTER the game, he says "what a stupid upset prediction"

As if upset predictions are always super smart...

When was the last time Duke lost to an OOC opponent not from a big conference?

Would it have been stupid to predict Temple to beat Duke this year, cbf??

Sorry. Some of us have a life outside of this. But much of what I said is pretty much common sense. Which I know you have difficulty with at times. ;)

Think about it...hmm, IU struggling the past couple of weeks. Wisconsin starting to play well, coming off a big win @ ILL (ILL first home loss). Playing on Wisconsin home floor, where they have already lost a couple of games this year. Which is VERY rare in the Bo Ryan era. To be honest, this was an easy pick. ;)

Yes, picking Wisky was the easy pick?

WHy? Sure, you can get all fancy with what others have said, but the main reason was this.....

IT IS INDIANA ON THE ROAD.

Do you want me to list all the teams that were struggling than got an impressive road win?

You act like IU beating Wisconsin was some impossible feat LOL you're a joke cbf.

IMpossible? So now ur going to put words in my mouth? Did I say impossible? No. Easy pick for me to go with Wisky? Absolutely, not question.

Ya sure, I am a joke, whatever you say. But ur an asswipe. Hurts to look like an idiot huh?

I predicted an upset you moron LOL

You're seriously patting yourself on the back for picking Wisconsin? Yeah no shit it was the easy pick; that's why I said "call me crazy" when I made the prediction.

    Wow lol

Figuring 1 loss in the NCAA, 1 loss in the B1G conference tourney, you think they'll only lose 3 more regular season games? Not being incredulous, just curious.
  • Laley23
Except IU was a coaching decison from having the ball for a win...

Wisconsin isnt that good. They will lose at least 1 more at home this year, Illinois or Minny could also beat them. That wasnt that crazy of a pick. That team cant shoot for shit.

They have 4 more road games. 2 are Minnessota and Iowa. Games that are winnable. If they hold serve at home, they can get through win only 3 more losses. Id figure a win @ Iowa and a loss that I expect to be a win somewhere for 4 more losses.

    They are 16-5 right now.

    IOWA--W---17-5
    @um---L----17-6
    @Pur---L----17-7
    Ill------W---18-7
    NW-----W---19-7
    *Iowa---W---20-7
    NCC-----W---21-7
    *miny---L----21-8
    MSU----L-----21-9
    Pur-----W----22-9

    B10 tourny 1-1 23-10

    NCAA 1-1 24-11.

That is my thoughts as of now. WHen I originally thought of this was last saturday and I had a W vs PSU and I figured they could win either @Wisky or Minny. I guess I could stay at my 25-10 but IU does not have much luck in Minny over the years so I guess I am backing off one win.

    I think I had originally

Wisconsin home record under Bo Ryan:

    152-11
    93%

I'll agree, Wisconsin isn't as good as they have been. BUT, they only lost to UNC by 3pts, @ UNC. Bo Ryan, IMO, is one of the better coaches around. No matter how you spin it, they are still a solid team capable of beating anyone on their home court. Winning there, isn't easy and is rare no matter how you look at it. Add in other things heading into this game, and I'll say it again, was an easy pick. OSU is heading their next week. I won't be shocked if they come out of their with an L.
    Nuff said, moving on.

No one is disagreeing w/ ANY of that.

Predicting an upset requires an "easy" pick and requires going against it.

Getting on somebody for being wrong on an upset prediction is incredibly lame.

Especially after the game. If your going to call someone out, do it before and give a prediction. If not, think he is "dumb" in your head and move on without saying anything.

You sound really bitter doing so after a game has been played. If IU had won, I doubt you come on here and say "good pick S&L, I thought that was an easy Wisconsin win. Im an idiot."

Man, I feel a lot more proud of myself for picking Ohio State to beat Penn State on Wednesday.

    My insight is unmatched!

I actually was going to mention something about that game lol like "it's not like I picked Penn State to win @ Ohio State...I picked a top 25 team to beat a top 17 team" lol

Although I guess I shouldn't be too shocked if that upset happened..b1g's been crazy this year

That's my biggest point lol cbf does this shit all the time, he gets on here after the fact to bash people's opinions before the event.

He did the same thing to me last year when I predicted Oakland (w/ their 2 NBA players) to beat OSU...got on here after the gmae was over and was like "OMG what an idiot, you really expected Ohio State to lose to Oakland?!?! Do you know when the last time OSU lost to an OOC opponent at home from a non-big conference" uhhh ya, cbf, I know...it was a risky prediction.

    Fuck I hate that guy
